My wife and I adopted a 4 year old Maine Coon Cat from a county shelter. Her previous humans had died and their kids didn't want her. Our new family member's name is Angel, and she IS an angel. She is one of the sweetest, most loving beings I've ever met. She follows us everywhere. When I'm sitting at my desk, after she asks permission, Angel jumps on the desk top in front of me, trilling and chirping. She is a truly beautiful soul and a real blessing to both my wife and me.

Such a sweet story. I am so glad that you were able to adopt her. They are truly the most loving and beautiful cats I’ve ever had. I lost my ten year old Maine coon a year ago to cancer. We found our beautiful kitten Maine Coon on the side of dark country road. He was filthy, malnourished, both eyes severally infected the vet called him a “train wreak”. A year later he’s heathy happy and greatly loved 🥰.

I found 4 newborn Maine Coon kittens just born under my porch. They were less than 1 hour old. We put them in a dry box and Mama scared to death still went in to see them. Now 3 years later we have 4 all white Maine Coon cats. 1 was adopted out successfully. They are so sweet.

I got my maincoon from the street! He may be mixed but his features are definitely primarily maincoon haha. He loves water, likes to go for walks, and roam around the grass. Very cuddly and he loves to talk to me . :)

Same here. Mine was pregnant and came into my house to give birth to beautiful babies. I kept her and 3 of the babies. One is all white with blue eyes.

We've had many cats come and go in our home but our MAin Coon Jinxy was the best we ever had. She died in my arms at 21 years old. I cried like a little kid for almost 2 days and Im a big motorcycle riding kind of dude.....

My Maine Coon arrived sometime in the middle if the night, in the middle of nowhere. 5am...meowing coming from behind the outside cabinet on porch. Rescued, fed, coddled and cared for. Radar (her name) has stolen our hearts and blended in with other pets/farm pets. Never expected to have one of these awesome cats.

My kitten and her litter of 7 are 8 weeks old (when I picked her up) They have all seen the vet 3 times for check-ups which I have documentation for. The property of the breeder is absolutely huge and open. There are other breeding pairs as well retired breeders cats that also live out their days there too. Everything is open and immaculate. I imagine the expense covers all this. This breeder fell well within several others I spoke with and definitely wasn't the most expensive. I hope this helpful :)

Clarence is now almost 8 months old and is a really lovely cat. He is very wilful and quite naughty at times but also really affectionate and loving. He is almost five and a half kilos and is already bigger than a regular cat. I can’t imagine life without him now.

My step dad acquired a RV...found one inside just hanging out. She was tiny at first. But got huge within 7 months. Oh yeah....definitely playful. Goes pounces on our faces during the night off the shelf. going after our legs while walking. Usually in the AM...

MIne is 28 lbs.......make sure you can afford FOOD...lol. An ample litter box is highly recommended Got mine as a rescue kitten at the SPCA

Mine is a rescue. He is absolutely gorgeous and has brought so much happiness to our family. He was very sick when we got him but he is happy and healthy now ❤️❤️. He is a third rescue but fit right in with our tabby and calico ❤️

We decided to get a MC kitten after having 2 cats for 3years...oh boy did the kitten change the synergy of our house. As our MC was super energetic and aggressive, it left my docile cats very intimidated and stressed. One of my adult cat has started to lick her tail excessively becoz of the stress. I am just hoping that my kitten will grow out of her playful phase soon and hope they all can play or be civil to one another. And i do play with my kitten few times a day and has done the introduction 2x..

Was your MC male or female? I’ve had two males and both are pretty calm and loving. I also have a domestic long hair and she is so much smaller than our male MC, but let me tell you she runs the show lol.

This video is spot on. Great info for those looking to get a Maine Coon. I just bought a MC kitten. She's amazing. Best $2000 I've ever spent . They're pricey but worth it.

Maine Coons are amazing. I currently have a beautiful and action packed 5 month old Blue MC kitten, Aisek. He looks full grown already. I've reserved his playmate and she will be delivered in January. :) The purebred and registered Maine Coon kittens are pricey indeed. Just remember, you get what you pay for. If you cannot afford $2-3000 for a pet, consider a SIAMESE. They are incredibly smart. They also can grow very large. Mine was 23 pounds and he was awesome. He loved learning new feats. He talked to me and told me about his day or what was on his mind. He learned how to open doors and come out with me. He knew when I was not well and stayed right beside me, as my "nurse." He not once got on the tables or the counters. He greeted me at the front door when I came home. I suggest considering the under-rated Siamese breed for people who cannot afford a Maine Coon. Until this year, I always had purebred Siamese.

I HAVE 2 LOVELY MAINE COON AND ITS WORTH IT TO HAVE THEM. THEY ARE NOT JUST A PET BUT A FAMILY MEMBER.

Thanks for this Maine Coon Kitten 101 video. I love learning about cats. I’ve always been curious about this breed and may consider getting one when I’m ready. When my Snowshoe kitty boy died it hit me hard and I was not prepared for that kind of pain. I’m not sure that I’ll ever be ready given that it’s been over a year but life has a way of making decisions for us when we can’t make it ourselves. Anyway, thank you again for such a great video. When I got Pebbles from a breeder she was very timid, almost feral but she quickly warmed up to me. She snuggles up to me a lot in the winter and she can be very vocal. She’s recently acquired a 100 subs on her KZread channel.

We have a Maine coon mix and at a year old he is super wild! He plays rough with his older brother all the time. They are not Maine coons but both are quite large for their breeds, tuxedo and ginger. They are all boys, they get along very well!

Yep they do not like to be alone. Learned hard way. My adult literally clawed hole into my drywall. When the second one came along all destructive behaviors stopped. Then as little one grew he took over. Every cord in my house is wrapped in kevlar. Need I say more?

My first cat most likely had Maine Coon blood in him. He was a BIG ol' hog, dumber than a brick, sweet as a pie. He lived to around 19 years old before he disappeared into the night and never came back. I don't "miss" him, as it wasn't exactly a short time together, nor was his exit to stage right unexpected, but he was a fantastic cat to grow up with. Rest in peace, buddy.

Definitely do one on feeling out breeders. Also, go into some depth on the expenses that breeders take on in raising kittens. I've heard a lot of complaints about the cost of pure bred kittens.

I found an all natural hair brush with wooden handle at SALLY BEAUTY SUPPLY. It works like it was designed for brushing a Maine Coon. It is indestructible and easy to clean. I have even washed it in the WASHING MACHINE in a lingerie bag.

Have any of you seen Robert's Maine Coon Cats, they are all Magnificent, he has one call King Vivo & so many of them, if you ever see them you will understand what I'm saying, sometimes he'll show the different ones & he'll also show different colors & show the family history

My nephews had a Maine Coon kitten and didn't even know what breed it was until he started getting huge.

I really wanna have one, and I'm ready to save the money for him/her as it is a longtime dream of mine. The one thing I'm worried about is the time I'll be home with the cat. I expect to work a lot, to be out a bit on social events every now and then (not every night out though), but in counterpart what I'd love to do is train him as a kitten to wear a harness and a leash, and just bring him with me on hikes, camping, or just to go walk through a park. I just have no idea how I can manage that, though. Guess we'll see when we get there, I mean, I'm a few months away from moving across the continent, and I won't have a cat before I'm settled in at least...

The breeder prices are beyond some of us but all breeds of cats will show up at the shelter and if you know what you want, you can watch for the one you have chosen. If you wait your fur baby will come. 🐾❤️

Hight quality food is needed for any cat :). If spayed or neutered than special food is needed for them. But for a more accurate response, you should ask a maine coon breeder.

How old should they be before trying to walk them on a harness or take them outside!?

Males in the cat world are said to be sweeter than females

Would it be a good idea to get a maine coon kitten to a Bombay boy (age 1,5 years). Our boy is very VERY active, and has NO sense of personal space. Our boy lost his brother as a kitten (they were sick rescue-cats), and I think he really needs a friend. But would another kitten be happy with our boy's 24/7 "lets cuddle+play+wrestle NOW"? We walk our boy outside every day (leash+harness) and he loves it. In the end, everything our boy does - even chewing on the toilet brush - is done with love and happiness only.

I'm interested in finding out everything about main coon kitty.

I was sold a kitten who, if I didn’t absolutely love her, I would say was a disaster. I thought this person was a registered breeder as she said she would send the ‘tica’ papers on as soon as they arrived. My beautiful girl developed a bad limp at about 4-5 months old. I asked the vet to do an X-ray which he did. My kitten had ‘Legge-Calve-Perthes’ disease. The bone below the head of the femur look as if it had been eaten away! I thought I would have to put her to ‘sleep’ as the cost of repair was extremely high, & there was no guarantee that (a) the leg would become strong enough to hold up, & (b) that the other hind leg might also develop this syndrome. Fortunately, a very good friend & the Farley Foundation offered to pay for the surgery. Now my kitten is 16 months old. She is such a happy, affectionate & gentle creature that I’ve completely lost my heart to her. She doesn’t’ jump very high, & I’m careful to lift her down if she does get into awkward places. I have to agree with this expression “Buyer Beware”! This is not a registered breeder. I had looked & looked for many months, & all the breeders/show people were not expecting kittens (those with whom I could get in contact!). This led to my buying my beautiful kitten - at a high price - but, in the end, no ‘TICA’ papers, of course. I can’t regret getting my ‘girl’, she is so affectionate & lovable. However, I don’t know if she will have a long life, or if she will develop that disease in the other hind leg. If this happens, I would probably have to have her put to ‘sleep’ as 2 weakened back legs could cause her many other problems. Thank you for your video.

i wanna get my Maine coon kitten on craigslist since its free, i do know it can mean they have health issues and all that but i dont have money since im 15, and still looking for a good job, and my mom is not willing to pay even 800 dollars for a cat, but she said i could get one. And i REALLY want one, and i wanna save the money to get the supplies ill need, but if i pay for the cat then i cant pay for the supplies. and im willing to pay for medical stuff, even if it means i have to work extra hard. i have done a lot of research and i hope ill be ready for a Maine coon kit when i get one.

if i had the money to get one from a breeder i would, but im only 15 and i wanna work with animals but no one takes in people who are less then 18 years of age, and every other job near me is part time and the minumum wage is like 6-7 dollars a hour for 4 hours a day- so i doubt ill be able to get one anytime soon if i got one from a breeder, and when i move back in with my mom and get the money for the supplise ill be ready for a cat, but i dont also dont wanna wait years till i have that kind of money... i have to much on my mind for a 15 year old-

My Maine coons cats are brother and sister. But Jimmie the male he was robbed from being small. It was 2 weeks later at 8weekß maybe 10 weeks he looked full grown. But he just kept growing. I have to use both hands just to pick him up. Sarah his sister will not let me pick her up. ẞhe only lets me pet her when I lay down in bed.

Maine coons are ususlly more energetic. But if you want to, make sure to get a female maine coon

Don't shed?? My MC, Jojo, has to be vaced after every day. She didn't mention that MCs have three coats, closest to the skin is down-like and can't be seen with the naked eye. I also have to brush/strip comb him every day. If you plan to get a MC you had better get a special vac for pet hair. They shed like crazy, you just can't see it.
