i felt it so strongly watching the movie because I was imagining myself as one of the Fremen and this speech would've moved me to fight through hell for a person not even from my Planet. I felt somewhat scared that humans can be so easily manipulated into anything. It makes you think if there was any point in your life where someone's 'Voice' compelled you to act to their benefit.

its worse when you realize he's prying into that particular Naib's dreams. Shedding tears, giving water to the dead, is sacrosanct, but also something intensely private. Water is everything after all, and shedding tears can be said to be the greatest offering there. But he is a Naib and should be above such things. Yet he dreams of it and it brings him joy. Imagine how it feels if someone peered into your sweetest dreams from you and laid it bare for all to see.

This was the point that Frank Herbert was making by writing the Dune series. Charisma is a double-edged sword in that those who have this trait in spades can accomplish anything they wish. However, those who are charismatic tend to be people who get caught up in their own charisma and lose sight of any rational or moral reasoning. They are not inherently corrupt, nor does power corrupt them, but those individuals are drawn to power because they are corruptible.

Immediately recognized this as the central turnaround scene in movie - Paul for the first time embracing his role as Lisan Al Gaib and using the power given to him. Its one of the most impressive scenes I've ever seen, unbelievably strong and tragic as well. The fremen voluntarily becoming pawns in this battle that's not theirs following a prophet that was foisted to them. Scene very much reminded me of, at least imo, one of the best star wars scenes (and especially Padme's line at the end): 'so this is how liberty dies - to thunderous applause'

In Dune part 1 Mohiam says "Like sifting sand through a screen we sift people". Man I wish there was a whole movie showing Paul at his peak power, just being OP as fuck. We get a taste of it here after he drinks the water of life but it’s towards the end of the movie. Dune messiah results in Paul basically renouncing his godhood. But man I just wish there was a whole movie of him just being light years ahead of everyone else. Also frank Hubert wrote this as a cautionary tale but I find it funny that everyone is making videos glorifying Pauls ascendance to godhood but I don’t blame everyone because it’s so badass.

It was false from the beginning to the very end and Fremen were nothing more than victims of Paul's vast power and his vengeance. That's exactly the thing that Pardot Kynes warned his son against: that too charismatic religious leader will pull the Fremen away from creating their own paradise on Arrakis. That's what Paul did, he promised them green paradise and in truth destroyed Fremen culture and heritage on Dune.
