    The scene shot from above as Paul moves through the huge crowd of Freman is a visual reference to him being the Kwisatz Haderach. In Dune part 1 Mohiam says "Like sifting sand through a screen we sift people". The scene from above resembles grains of sand with Paul sifting through them but being separate because he is the Kwisatz Haderach that the Bene Gesserit have been working towards all those years.

    @@aboutjava Books are almost always going to be better than the movies that adapt them. There’s just so much more detail and context that you miss out on in movies. I will say though, that the Dune books can be a little bit of a difficult read (at least from my initial experience).

  • @Carthodon

    @Carthodon

    15 күн бұрын

    @@Pepsi24woozworld I disagree with this sentiment. I think the only reason books tend to be better than their adaptations is that for a book to be adapted it needs to meet the standard of being good enough to be adapted, while the adaptations have no comparable filter. Moreover, authors generally hate admitting an adaptation was better than an original (like The Shining) because it implies its better insofar as it is different from the source. The only author I can think of who said outright the movie was better was Chuck Palanhiuk on Fight Club. In this case I think there are things I definitely miss like the Harkkonen mentat and stuff that irks me like Chani's behavior toward Paul getting with the Princess, and the only thing I regret losing because of a lack of context was not showing the Harkkonen homeworld. What I definitely preferred in the movie was the Princess because despite how she doesn't really have any power to do much of anything, she does show how an extremely virtuous person could manage that role in life.

    Love is a truly underestimated aspect of humanity. Not to be overly mushy, but I believe love and compassion is the true reason for all humankind’s continued existence. Love can save anything and shatter everything. Jessica’s choice to gift Leto with a son out of love changed the course of all mankind, truly romantic if you ask me.

    In the vast expanse of sands, where dreams ascend, A melody resonates, Dune's tale to mend, With the Mahdi's legacy, our souls transcend, "Let the jihad flow," where destinies blend. Beneath the stars' embrace, our spirits soar, In Fremen's lore, resilience we explore, As Muad'Dib's wisdom echoes evermore, "Let the jihad flow," unity we implore. Through time's tapestry, our courage shines bright, In shadows cast by Shai-Hulud's might, With faith as our guide, in Dune's sacred rite, "Let the jihad flow," our resolve takes flight.

    I saw it once on Feb 29 on a flat-screen Imax. The next day Mar 1 and on Mar 21, I saw it on a dome Imax. There is no comparison between the 2. I just bought the books on Amazon so I could reread them again. The first time was 1970. It's a very good series of books. Yes, Dune by Denis is not the same as the books but that's okay, his interpretations are excellent. The biggest difference is Alia.

    movie does not accurately represent the dune books, frank Herbert had no problem using lots of Islamic Arabic terms etc., however the dune movies avoid that for possible controversy.

    @@AaronOmar-co8bnya that do mute much of the language that is more directly influenced by Islam. And some cultural stuff. They do say Mahdi at least. The mahdi spirit cult, zen-Sunni, hajj, lots of other stuff I don’t even remember

    Don't get this the wrong way, but imagine if all the Muslims stood united. Do you think they could win the holy war? :D 1.9 billion. Christians are around 2,4 but I think most of these are on the weaker end of religious practice.
