Second: You do not fall all over yourself and begin your sentences with a string of UuuuuuHhhhhh's. Third, you know where the presentation is going, and move steadily ahead. Good Man ! UPDATE: The OP's method of sling attachment is sound. It is comfortable and effective for sure. However, I have been using it for the past few weeks and I've found a flaw. The Magpul QD sling loop is non anti-rotational. What this means is during handling of the shotgun, the sling loop has a tendency to rotate around freely. This has lead to the sling being tangled almost every time I pick up the shotgun. I emailed Magpul to see if there way a way around this, if they had anti-rotation sling mounts, but they said they did not. So, I took off the QDM swivel and attached the sling directly to the vertical footman's loop on the stock. It took some experimentation to find which direction to mount it, but I eventually found the sweet spot. I am pleased to say this works incredibly well. The shotgun lays against the body in the exact same manner as the OPs method. Also, it is impossible for the sling to bind or tangle. All you have to do is grab the base of the sling and "smooth" it and the sling is back to perfect orientation. This assumes you are using a non-rotating front mount, of course. I am using the front sling loop on a Wilson Combat magazine extension. Again, I am in NO WAY trying to usurp the OP. I found his method very good but it did have the tangling problem. Those out there (including TWANGnBANG himself) might want to experiment with this. The results are superior to the QD swivel in quickly mounting the shotgun and not worrying if the sling loop has twisted the sling all around. :)

I had the same experience and the same solution. Used the fixed loop on the stock running from the outside and a BFG universal wire loop on the mag tube brace.

No joke all the companies should hook you up because I literally bought the stuff after watching your vids. Many thanks!!!

Great vid, thanks. Last year I started putting slings on every single one of my rifles and shotguns - it is an ESSENTIAL tool to have on your firearm, just as essential as sights, illumination source, etc if you ask me. The new MS1 padded sling is shipping now from Magpul, looks like a winner. They really improved the sling design by adding the new generation slider that allows you to easily slide the sling to make it longer or shorter. I like to have the firearm sit pretty close to my body when at rest, and when ready to shoot it is pretty nice to be able to move that slider out to be able to pull the firearm into ready position. QD is a must have as well, if not for both points that attach the sling to the gun - have at least one side open up with a QD mount so that the long gun can be dumped if necessary.

Just watched all videos in this 590A1 build. I wish I found your channel a week ago! Just bought the 590A1 tri-rail in 20" barrel. First ever shotgun I've bought and your insight and research could've helped me make a more informed decision. The wife gave me the go ahead to get the gun but I could've saved some money getting the basic 590A1 after learning about the magpul stock with adjustable length. Still happy with purchase and look forward to your other vids. Good job man.

Great tips on the sling with maneuvering, attaching, manipulating, etc. Going to move my rears to the outside to see how that feels. I need to do a lot more practicing with transitioning and I've definitely noticed what you talked about with not having the slack needed and having the sling on my carbine too tight. I've got a Mossberg 930 that I'm setting up for HD and this has been very helpful as I carefully select the gear I use to outfit it for that role.

Great review, I always enjoy your videos. In reference to the QDM swivel, I think if you push the tabs in toward the flush cup when attaching the sling instead of pulling the tabs and trying hold them back it will work much easier. I saw a magpul rep demo the QDM on another sling and it seemed like that's what he did.

Wow, what a comprehensive review, thank you. As a first time gun buyer you answered most of the practical use and application questions I had after spending what seemed to be "too long" watching others just gloss over some important details. Details like left or right side of the stock for the attachment point and the considerations for the front attachment when considering the weapon light. What is hard to believe is that Magpul is the only game in town when it comes to these really helpful and useful upgrades. If there are others to consider please do a video on those, maybe even a comparison?

Wait, what's this? A shotgun video on KZread that doesn't involve completely wrecking the barrel by shooting homemade ammo that was never designed for shooting? This is to good to be true! You actually respect your gun!

Just my experience with this MagPul sling swivle. It only works on about 25% of my factory QD's. Not sure why, but I had to pull them off my slings, they pull right out. And that's both that I bought. They're paper weights now.

***** Been using one for over a year on my BCM SBR in most of my AR15 videos. It works great, but it still has a strap to find versus just grabbing the triglide for the MS1. Thanks for watching!

I have always liked your videos but I have to say that this is "one" of your top ten. Very detailed but very simple and to the point. Keep up the good work! And BTW, I'm kind of upset with you because now I'm going to have to try out that darned swivel and if I like it I will have to switch over all my long guns to that setup. If that happens you will be hearing from my wife...

Looks like the one included with the S&J Hardware magazine tube extension. On their website, they don't list the sling mount separately.

Not a big fan of a sling in home defense but if i do start running one thos is an awesome video my thought is i would only run one if im carrying a secondary so i dont have to throw my shotgun down to transition. I love your videos man awesome work..

Another serious advantage to a sling for HD, is at some point you will have to interact with Law Enforcement. Being able to show your hands up w/out losing control of your weapon is a huge plus. My HD set up, I have a BladeTech weapons light 9mm in a paddle holster, that gets me too my Mossberg. Until I get MagPul, I have an Elzetta light mount and basic sling for administrative carry. Cool cool setup! Gotta upgrade now!

That is also a negative to having a shotgun attached to your body. If an intruder turns out to be LEO, or LE show up, you won't be able to instantly drop your weapon, fumbling with the QD latch to ditch it before a LEO shoots you would be a pretty awkward situation on both ends!

If a LEO shows up and tells you to drop your weapon, just put your hands up. Don't touch or put them anywhere near the gun. He's more concerned that you would do anything with the weapon. Then, listen to his instructions. He will tell you what he wants you to do. Don't assume anything.

I like that sling. My 12 gauge is my go to gun for most if not all situations. Also, should the bad guy actually try to take the gun while you have it slung snug against your body, while they fight to get it away from you, gives you a chance to use your knife or handgun as a counter defense move. With some practice it can be effective. Good video, keep them coming!

Todd Klekotka Certainly if you belt up with those weapons, they can come into play. In a home defense scenario, most people realistically are going to grab one weapon in a hurry if they think someone is breaking into their home or worse, already in it. Thanks for watching!

The QDM is way easier to insert than you show or describe! Just push the grippers in to install, pull the grippers to remove. You don't have to pull to install like you showed, it's a two way action.

I know this is an old post but thank you. I was literally scrolling through the comments to see if anybody had posted this or if I had to. I feel like every KZread video involving that quick detach system has someone saying how nice they come off and how hard they are to put on, because everyone is doing it incorrectly
