Frankie McCrae is an awesome individual and a true Combat Veteran. His expertise is backed by years of actual experience in numerous environments. He is highly respected by those in the Special Operations community who have served with him. He is an excellent instructor. He never speaks at you, he speaks to you. His sincerity in his instruction is very apparent. The range is a bit out of the way but well worth the drive.

Agreed. I’m an Instructor and one of my mentors reminded me that not all of my students are going to show up in full kit with years of experience. I love the old ladies, the young kids and the people who I don’t have to train bad habits out of. One of my mentors was a short older Canadian guy. Never bragged about anything. Turns out he was a highly decorated Green Beret who served several tours in Viet Nam and had books written about him. A humble guy with nothing to prove.

This my favorite tactical shotgun defense video on youtube, and for a number of reasons... mainly the presentation style with the instructor interacting with the students while we get commentary as it goes along. The cameras on the barrels are really cool, too! And, it's not presented in strict military style, where yelling and screaming out instructions is the norm. Thanks for posting!

As an LE instructor with almost 20 years experience, I'm just shaking my head in amazement at what some "instructors" teach. -Teaching that old way of holding the shell between your fingers when loading over the top is a good range technique. Try it under stress when your fine motor skills are going to crap and your shells end up on the ground. Yes, back 20 years ago, the older instructors taught that way but it simply doesn't work well under stress, no matter how many times you practice it on the range. -Loading the rounds from the sidesaddle from the bottom isn't intended for over the top chamber loading, or even for chamber loading from below. What most people instruct now is a few rounds at the front of the sidesaddle oriented up and the rest facing down. That way, the rounds oriented up are for loading the chamber over the top, and the others are for loading the magazine, obviously on the bottom. -And finally, spitting the rounds into the chamber. Do I honestly have to even comment on that one? I've seen some stupid crap from so-called "instructors" here on KZread, but that technique makes those Corey and Erica "instructors" look like absolute geniuses.

I never served in the military, only LE employment and I did work as a security contractor stateside doing nuclear security. As much as I don't like the first two techniques I mentioned in my post, it's just that, a disagreement in techniques. But that spitting the shell into the chamber thing, really? I won't even call that a "technique".

I have watched this several times. I also notice that everyone has regular/straight buttstocks and not any version of a pistol grip style stock. I love these ideas, especially using the shotgun as a striking device in the event someone does get to close.

  • @TWANGnBANG

Big Mac The two go together- pistol grip shotguns are very difficult to use for melee stuff, which is why Frankie insists on non-pistol grip stocks for shotguns. The Magpul SGA is a great solution, however, with a very pistol-grip like angle to the grip without actually being a pistol grip.

Like most of us, what might be considered 'Ammo Dexterity" is likely sloppy. Mainly because 99.99% of the time, the ONLY time we handle shotgun shells are when we're loading them. Time handling the Shotgun on the other hand ( pardon the pun ), is exponentially greater, just because we're toting the thing around, right? I'd say that a precursor to this course should be a little homework for a couple days just rolling shells around in your hand ( dummy shells ) to really familiarize our senses as to their specific geometry, as they feel in our hand. I've never taken a course like this, and from what I can see, it's VERY valuable information. I learned a lot, and wasn't even there! The Instructor was great on delivery, and information !! Well done! ;-)

Man accused of Gretchen Whitmer kidnap plot called Trump a ‘tyrant’!!! -ANTIFA MILITIA!!! MICHIGAN WHITMER BLAMES THE POTUS REFUSING TO "THANK HIM" FOR SAVING HER LIFE!!! THE "FEDS", BY THE DIRECTION OF TRUMP FOILED THE PLOT OF LEFTIST ANTIFA MARXISTS!!! "THE "LEFT" PROGRESSIVE MARXISTS ARE THE VIOLENT ONES" ... They will NEVER tell you the truth. NEVER! Project Veritas Exposes Antifa LEFTIST 'Militia' Abolishing Police! DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE??? MOST DO NOT AND BITE THE LIBERAL PRESS TRIPE! One of the militiamen accused of plotting to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer railed that President Trump was a “tyrant” and called all government workers “your enemy.” Video circulating on social media appears to show Brandon Caserta expressing his anti-government - and anti-Trump - views. “Trump is not your friend, dude,” Caserta says, with an anarchist flag hanging behind him. “It amazes me that people actually, like, believe that when he’s shown over and over and over again that he’s a tyrant. Every single person that works for government is your enemy, dude.” He also ranted about “getting robbed by government thugs for some made-up traffic violation” after receiving a traffic ticket. Caserta’s alleged views surface amid Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and Whitmer both blaming Trump for inspiring the sick scheme, as they claim he failed to denounce white supremacy and extremism in the US. Caserta was among 13 men busted by the feds Thursday who planned to kidnap Whitmer and storm the Capitol building in Michigan in hopes of sparking a civil war. Seven of the defendants were linked to a militia group called the Wolverine Watchmen. Video Exposes the Armed Antifa 'Militia'!! Project Veritas released the third of its antifa video exposes. This undercover video exposes the armed branch of antifa who want to abolish the police and identify as the leftist movement’s “militia.” “Redneck Revolt,” also known as the “John Brown Gun Club,” identifies itself as the “militia wing of antifa.” A Project Veritas journalist infiltrated the North Carolina chapter in 2018. While Redneck Revolt supports gun ownership, local leaders condemned the National Rifle Association. In the video, a Redneck Revolt leader insists, “I hate the NRA. The NRA is a white supremacist terrorist organization.” “This particular group sees themselves as armed revolutionaries. They’re all about the working class,” the Project Veritas journalist explains. “So they share these communist, anarchist ideals that the working class should run the country with no government and they believe in total abolition of everything, including the police.” She reported that Redneck Revolt was also part of the riots in Charlottesville, Va. in 2017. “Charlottesville was comprised of your typical Antifa black bloc measures. There were also Black Lives Matter. There were multiple chapters of Redneck Revolt that went to Charlottesville and acted as the militia wing of the anti-fascist movement,” she said. Following the example of John Brown, the abolitionist who led the raid on Harper’s Ferry in order to arm the slaves for an uprising, Redneck Revolt aims to arm black Americans. “One of their missions is to arm minorities. They feel that black Americans and minorities are disenfranchised by gun laws and permit fees,” the Project Veritas journalist reported. The journalist recalled going to the gun range with Redneck Revolt, calling the experience “especially stressful and scary” because “they had guns” and because “I was wired with a camera, so the entire time that I was there at the gun range, especially while we were shooting guns, I was constantly worried that something would come unattached or a wire would show.” Ultimately, the undercover journalist found herself booted from the group because she posted on Facebook her support for a candidate for sheriff. “That’s where they said to me, that’s where we fundamentally disagree. We don’t believe in reform of any kind. We believe in complete abolition of the system itself, including police.” While most antifa instigators seem more interested in carrying batons and throwing bricks or Molotov cocktails, Project Veritas has revealed that armed instigators do play a role in the radical leftist terrorist movement. Project Veritas’s previous antifa videos exposed various tactics, including “fight club” training sessions. The videos come after protests over the police killing of George Floyd devolved into looting, vandalism, and arson across America, destroying black lives, black livelihoods, and black monuments. Antifa instigators are likely behind such violence - antifa black bloc tactics make an appearance in footage of the riots. Antifa instigators have a long track record of violence, particularly in Portland, Ore. Journalist Andy Ngo has been hospitalized after receiving a beating. Local conservative Adam Kelly had his head busted open with a baton. He suffered a concussion and needed 25 stables to close the wounds. Gage Halupowski, an antifa agitator, pled guilty to second-degree assault and was sentenced to 70 months in prison for the violence. Last July, 69-year-old Willem Van Spronsen threw “incendiary devices” at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center in Tacoma, Wash. Police killed him, but not before he ignited a car and tried to get a propane tank to explode, ironically endangering the lives of the very immigrants he intended to help. “I am antifa,” Van Spronson said in his manifesto. The group Seattle Antifascist Action hailed this terrorist as a “martyr.” “When our good friend and comrade Willem Van Spronsen took a stand against the fascist detention center in Tacoma, he became a martyr who gave his life to the struggle against fascism,” the antifa group posted on Facebook. While some have defended antifa by comparing them to the soldiers who stormed the beaches on Normandy to fight the Nazis on D-Day in 1944, the London antifa branch vandalized a statue of Winston Churchill - on D-Day, no less! The revelation of antifa’s armed “militia” should terrify Americans - but it also reaffirms conservative opposition to gun control. The Redneck Revolt is correct in its suspicions that restrictions on gun ownership trace back to a desire to prevent black Americans from being able to defend themselves. It seems ironic that so many leftists who insist police are racist seem opposed to the idea of black people arming themselves for defense against them. Redneck Revolt is at least ideologically consistent in supporting black gunowners even as it is utterly inconsistent in demonizing the NRA. In advocating the abolition of police and presenting itself as a militia, Redneck Revolt seems to be making a play to replace the police and become a form of private security force. I’d take the police - with all their faults - over antifa militants any day of the week. nypost.com/2020/10/09/man-accused-of-whitmer-kidnap-plot-ripped-trump-as-tyrant/?SocialFlow&sr_share=facebook&SocialFlow&NYPFacebook kzread.info/dash/bejne/p36lqrKjf7utj6g.htmlTyler O’Neil is the author of Making Hate Pay: The Corruption of the Southern Poverty Law Center. Thanks for your comment but I think you should have kept the AR15 as it has its place as HD OR SD. I hope to get mossberg 590 soon . I have other guns but not about to sell any thing.

I was a Coast Guard firearms instructor in the 1990s and we always taught to keep the shotgun shouldered and do a "tactical reload" from the bottom. Our non firing hand brought the next round up between the index finger and "pinkie", slid it into the ejection port of our Remington 870 and pushed the slide forward with the same hand. Just a little different from your demo. We kept the weapon on target with our "firing hand" so as not to break our focus. By doing that we could actually do rapid fire drills as long as we had ammo.

This video is great. Fired shotguns years ago with my buddy many times, but it's been well over a decade. Never had any formal training, just shooting targets and clay pigeons. Seeking a new shotgun at the moment and am looking at pump actions. Got my permit and everything I need to legally purchase one. However, I want to have the knowledge of how to use it effectively and this is a great primer. Once I get one, i'll sign up for a course. This has really motivated me to do. This video alone has taught me quite a few things. Thank you so much for this.

after 15 years of shooting and buying guns....I took my very first advanced shooting course today. Holy hell the stuff I learned. Invest in training. I only paid $200 for and 8 hour course and it taught me tons. Most of what I was doing was correct, it just tweaked my practices to make me much more efficient and fast!

Very good technique and training BUT this is definitely a tactical introductory course . In more advanced long gun war fighting techniques you will learn less is more . Less movement is better , and we have had pump actions jam with debris from low crawl and other situations . They are simply better weapon systems. That being said the course from what I can see is outstanding and the fact that he actually added physical fighting techniques is a solid start into and actual tactical class . I would give this an A+ for a shotgun proficiency and home defense course, which it is , and not what I consider a tac course . Also loading from the bottom allows you to stay on target while you re-engage your weapon and your hand never leaves the control position . It's actually less movement when you train it . He is absolutely right about the difference in competition techniques. This is basically the old pump shotgun swat course from the 80's and 90's . Tactics have simply changed with the current weapon systems ie. autoloaders or magazine fed shotguns . Great course for anyone looking to further their understanding of home defense with a weapon that is financially available to everyone. Keep up the good work guys.

I was in Utapao, Thailand. US Air Force vet. I can't count the hours of Mossberg 500 training, day and night, in Texas and New Mexico, in all firing positions, no matter the circumstances, with the bruises to show for it, especially shooting from the meaty part of your groin. Enjoyed all the hours spent on that shotgun, but I enjoyed working the tri-pod .50 caliber machine gun the most. The M-60, at 2800 yards came in a close second.

Been to several high-speed shotgun courses. Whenever I would show up, the instructors would almost always say the same thing: "Oh.......you're left-handed. Well, we'll do what we can." LOL! Whenever I would teach a shotgun class, and for most of those I attended, the final 'drill' was a fun one called "Rolling Thunder." Max out your load...pack your pockets with ammo. First guy (usually an instructor) shouts "ONE" and he fires one round. the other shooters (usually 6 to 12) fire one round....one after the other. As the last one fires their round, they shout "OUT." Back to the first guy who shouts "TWO" and he fires two rounds, followed by each shooter in turn firing two rounds. So on for 3, 4, 5, 6 etc. The object of this is to have fun, but also to remember to reload and try to keep you load at max. I sure miss the days with I could use as much range ammo as I wanted.

Great training course. Tactical shooting a shotgun goes way beyond just shooting at a shooting range. So many people think accuracy at a shooting range is all they need to know to use as a home defense shotgun. These techniques could save your life or someone else's life but it also looks like a lot of fun. I got my dummy shells and I am gonna be practicing a lot.

The lack of real thought into the ideologies we subscribe to can lead to some stupid fuckwads thinking semi-autos need to be banned, which is just as stupid as ignoring the effects of global warming (Louisiana and the East Coast storms being notable symptoms).
