Best combo install video for magpull furniture I have seen. Maybe add how to do the magpull forend install with the heatshield for 500/590

Heavier than the stock components- interesting. After seeing your install, thought I wanted FDE, but, I think I may be more inclined to the black furniture.

I wanna get the fde set and install them on my 500 SPX since i converted my shockwave to an adjustable brace/pistol grip set up. I feel like both my Mossberg’s are too similar now, and the SPX is still how it came from the factory. Added both pieces to my amazon wishlist. Good vid. Thanks.

I had to take a dremal tool to my stock that way I can remove trigger group without removing stock every time

It makes pumping a chore on the 590a1

I don't think this works on the 500. The action bars are molded on to the forend. It actually can be done but you have to buy extra parts and it's a big histrionic pain in the but. Not really worth it.

The stock works fine with slight modification to allow trigger group to drop out freely. You are right about the forend I bought one before knowing and now in the process of installing slide tube. Still worth it to me I’ve heard the stock forend without the slide tubes break easily.

Yall both got the 500 with the pinned forend it sounds like. You have to make sure it's the forend that's held on by the threaded but. All you need with this one is a forend wrench to remove the nut.

Same with the Maverick 88, uses the pinned forend. You can buy the action tube that will work with these parts but they’re not that inexpensive, at least for what it is. For what you’d have invested you could probably find a better deal on a 500/590 with a non-pinned action tube.

If you have a pinned forend, just replace the slide tube assembly with a 7 3/4 slide tube assembly. Also make sure you order the castle nut to secure the new slide tube.

I had not one problem with it. It says in the instructions you may have to do several modifications if it doesn’t; depends on your gun.

The Mossbberg 500 does NOT have a castle nut on the foregrip, just the two slider arms that go into the breech.

Great video, I’m throwing mine in the trash though, it came on a gun bubba added stuff all over no way to look down the sights because the cheek rest is too high and the crappy holo sight doesn’t work

Wait. What exactly are you throwing in the trash? I only ask because Magpul sells the “cheek rests” separately. Just a matter of removing one screw to replace. Hope this helps.

Hey there … by any chance do you have play on your forend ????? I like to hear everyone’s opinion …

Did the dry thread locker make it unusually hard to turn the bolt? I just installed one and it seemed excessively resistant .

I am assuming this works for the 590 shockwave too?

Bought one of these and it work on my 500. The castle nut just won’t screw on after placing the proper anti turning device. Any advice?

The little tab on the bolt cover broke when I tried to install mine. I don't know if I can get a replacement cover or not.

Yep. Swaps out as normal.

You can also use an old tire iron to take out that pesky butt stock screw

Anyone have issues with the nut being properly tightened but when the forend is fully extended the wobble is still pretty bad?

Thats pretty normal for the mossberg 500 my for-end wobbles on my factory mossberg 500

Butt stock should fit no problem, for the forend you’ll need additional parts. The action tube on the 88 has the action bars pinned to it, which won’t allow different forends to be installed…you’d need a replacement action tube from Mossberg.

If it’s a shotgun with a bead front sight there’s nothing to adjust on the one he had in the video. If you have the ghost ring or rifle type sight, or are running an optic like a red dot or scope, then yes you’d want to check your sights/optic.

From my understanding you would need to crimp the heat shield closer to the barrel and possibly sand a small amount on the forend for smooth operation..

It has the ability to mount a light or anything you would want to it. Plus I think it feels better than the stock one.

Let's get to the dark side without hesitation. With this stock, which everyone seems to like so much, you cannot get the trigger assembly out, or get it back into the gun during takedown on the Mossberg 590A1, without having to loosen the stock quite a bit. This requires more time and an additional hex wrench. Whereas with normal takedown you do not need any additional tools. I like my Magpul stock, but this is really a stupid design flaw!

That's not true. I have the Mossberg 590 and have installed the Magpull stock. Ive had no issues removing the trigger housing from the shotgun. Ive never had to loosen the stock.

Can you shoot slugs with that shotgun?

Another 590 owner that doesn’t realize the 500 is designed differently... The forend will not work on the 500 without significant modification.

Adjustability…can easily change length of pull, comb height, various sling options, ability to attach accessories to the forend using the MLOK slots.

@@scotteger6271 thanks. I’m planning on getting a Mossberg 590S once my shoulder heals completely from surgery. From what I understand the 590S is the only model that will also shoot mini shells without an adapter.

I just bought my first mossberg 500….so when I first unboxed my mossberg shotgun…. I went to pump it but I wasn’t able to press the action sliding release lever because it was inside. ( the lever wasn’t down so I couldn’t push it) Is that normal? So the first pump I don’t press on the action sliding release lever since there is nothing in the chamber? Please I need help! Thank you!

If nothing is in the chamber or mag tube, you should have to press the slide release. I would try dry firing it empty and see if that maybe resets it.

The 20 gauge and 12 gauge receiver are the same size just different internals as far as I know

Found this on their website: : Not compatible with the optional Mossberg heatshield, removal is required before use. Also not compatible with 14" 590 Shockwave, 500, 535, Maverick 88, and AOW models.

I made it fit my 500A. Chiseled down about 2" of the polymer on the muzzle side of the forend. Also cut maybe 1/4" on the action side, just where the action touches.
