in the 1950s there was a model called the trap door otf stiletto switchblade when the knife closes the little metal flap closes over the hole you can do a search on youtube there is a video on this old and very rare knife when they open they push through the flap and lock they stopped making the otf stelettos and only did flick versions with picklock and lever lock for a really long time i now have one of these modern ones in blue and i love it

I bought this knife two months ago and so far three different screw and came loose and the knife is literally falling apart with my just opening and closing it indoors. I have used it to cut anything at all to keep the blade sharp. I picked up the 4 and a half inch blades version for $62 on some site. I would say when you get this knife it’s best to either use LockTite to keep the screws in places or just super clue them in. This knife will fall apart on you but only the clip and scales. The main structure of the knife is solid and has a powerful addictive and snapped action. This is the funnest and most addictive knife I own. It was genius for them to make an OTF stiletto, so much better and fun and addictive than the out the side (OTS) autos. For $62 I would buy this knife again if I lost this one and I would recommend it to a friend. The knife is sturdy enough to use for self defense. The blade is so narrow and so long I wouldn’t want to get stabbed by this. It would go i to someone like butter just like traditional stilettos. Over all I would like to see a high end version built for self defense with scales that have lots of traction like the Benchmade Fact. Because when you stab someones repeatedly your hand slides down the handle. This knife does have a hilt (blade guard) but it’s sharp when you hand slides down it and hit so it. It’s best to know have your hand go anywhere than to have a hilt but I like the hilt anyway because it helps it look like a traditional stiletto. Overall if you can get this knife for around $62 I’d grab it. Some sites sell it for $94 which is way too much for this.

Reading the reactions, I become sceptical. The screws and spring seem to be cheaply produced, and I would want to see a stiletto that can penetrate when held against a watermelon or steak. If they show thát on films, and make the 4 fingerstopplates massive instead of hollow (that looks really cheap) then I will buy one. I am not convinced now.

this style existed back in the late 80's and early 90's when what you now know as a standard OTF currently was just becoming popular; it just had a different handle and fittings, they took away the guards and all of the style to make them more "tactical" and streamlined. this is literally 30+ year old tech that is being rebranded as something new. but i do love the style though. however, these blades, for whatever reason, the bodies are way thicker than the originals. they had the same profile of an original italian stilleto. they were not this thick or heavy and worked the same. so why are these mago ones so big and clunky?

Update, the knife had a tendency to go off track, the tolerances seemed tight and i had to disassemble it to grind the lower lock release to allow more spring tension to open. I also had to sand down some pitted aluminum to allow the blade to move freely in and out. Not the greatest build quality but it’s still very cool

Some OTF knives can be very stiff right out of the box, they take a little wearing in to get to that nice rapid open/close stage. I have an F-16 that was also very stiff at first, but now it fires like butter.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought otf's were for slashing and side opening was for stabbing ? This would make this knife more or less useless because every budget otf I test in a stabbing motion against card board or a book the blade goes back in and pretty much useless in a real scenario unless the person is really scared of knives, we'll see tho, I'm still waiting for the knife to come in so I can really make my analysis.

Are thes better then the Chinese made ones from blade city? If anyone here knows anyway cus the ones on blade city or like 80$ but I'm almost positive they from China also the ones that called the don something by viper tech and are thes better then the Chinese made ones from. Slash 2 gash they like 90$ but the description for them says they are the strongest out of all of the ones like them but if assume they may mean all the Chinese made Italian style otfs that look like them and thes but if thes ones are truly from Italy then I'd imagine they should be better then them let me no I'd any of you have delt with thes ones from video as well as the others I mentioned thank you

Hi I have a question. I bought the 11 inch version and I got gunk inside mine so I took it apart and cleaned it out. In the process I lost a screw for the black outside case part. I was wondering if you guys could send me a screw? I'll pay for it.

Love your channel. Were these knives common in the 50s? did they use coil stilettos back then or are these kind of knives a new thing? - also do they have ones with push buttons instead of sliding ones? --- sorry for all the questions. thank you so much

Strap it on your hand, attach a string on the switch and a ring, attach a rubber band to the switch to the bottom end of the knife, and Wala, you got an Assassin's Creed hidden blade!
