Difference is that Bobby Fisher actually was the best in the world. Ding is not and everybody knows this. Ding is No.1, because Carlsen refused to defend his title. And, with respect, I can understand it, because as of now, Carlsen has no real opponents...maybe besides Hans Niemann...

Magnus reminds me of Val Kilmer from Real Genius-where they all sit around the table until one of them cracks from tension and then the next in line inherits the seat. That’s what this scenario reminds me of.

I know its a fact. But maybe media need to not much exposure ding mental health state. Just feel not right about it. If the Comunity caring enough just give support already good no need to post pic that projecting ding in despair moment 😢

He’s the world champion and he’s playing like a 2500 on a bad day. That is big news. In the chess world. He’s not a victim of the media. He’s a central figure in the chess world, and they’re being ridiculously respectful to him about this. You don’t even know if he has mental health issues, you’re speculating. That’s far worse.

God speed to Ding the way he denied a draw and beat Nepo to become world champion will forever be iconic hope he returns to that confidence level soon.

Dings heart wasnt really in it prior to winning the candidates and the world's. He unexpectedly won when he was considering retiring. He will be gone soon i think.

I just can not start to imagine the kind of pression he was under and the kind of fears he dealt with beeing the hope of this country maybe for so many years, with the kind of officials they have and the image they want to push etc...

This is a general thing, pattern with Asians, not only in Chess. No patience, quick, fast, superficial, learned by heard success, not even time to enjoy is taken. Sure, one can achieve great with it, even outstanding, but it is not complete.

Sounds like Ding is suffering from gut issues. Many dont know this but most mental health issues stem from an unhealthy gut. Speaking from experience with anxiety and depression and refusing to take benzos or antidepressants
