Icaros are shamanic songs that Peruvian curanderos sing during Ayahuasca ceremonies. With the help of ikaros, the shaman manages the ceremony, communicates with spirits, treats patients. Different icaros serve different purposes. Some icaros help to expel negative energies, purify the physical body, spiritual purification and healing, protection, and the return of the soul. There are icaros, with the help of which the shaman receives various abilities for his work.
Icaros can be divided into 2 types.
There are icaros transmitted from teacher to student. All shamans working in the same tradition know such icaros. But there are also unique icaros that were given by spirits to a particular shaman and that only he knows.
