Lyrics:
My pain is self-chosen
At least, so the prophet says
I could either burn
Or cut off my pride and buy some time
A head full of lies is the weight, tied to my waist
The river of deceit pulls down, oh oh
The only direction we flow is down
Down, oh down
Down, oh down
Down, oh down
Down, oh down
My pain is self-chosen
At least I believe it to be
I could either drown
Or pull off my skin and swim to shore
Now I can grow a beautiful shell for all to see
The river of deceit pulls down, yeah
The only direction we flow is down
Down, oh down
Down, oh down
Down, oh down
Down, oh down
The pain is self-chosen, yeah
Our pain is self-chosen
Down, oh down
Down, oh down
Down, oh down
Down, oh down

@@kimberlydrak4681 No, he was sick even when he was high. I mean look at him, he was a shell of himself wearing gloves to cover up tracks and couldn't stop even though it was going to kill him. If that's not an illness, I don't know what is. By the way I'm an addict as well, trying to get clean but struggling. I just feel diseased like I don't have a choice in the matter. Not fun. Congratulations on being clean though, that's incredible. I always feel like I'm worse than most people who end up getting clean though, like the ones who get clean weren't shooting the amount I am, like I'm too far gone to be saved at this point. Always happy for the ones who make it though.
His voice is just insane. I don't think he's ever sounded better.

I hope he's in heaven. I hope he accepted the Lord when he was 80lbs, taking his last breath. I heard he was something like Christian science but I don't know if it was the same thing as Scientology. If it is, I can't blame him for drifting away. I just know the Bible says to stay away from witch craft and sorcery, etc. And I really wonder about when they were touring for Dirt in New Orleans in 1992. It's weird that just Layne and Mike Starr went to the voodo shop, thought it was harmless fun, yet after that is when both his and Mike Starr's addictions really took that turn into something neither of them could stop through many stints in rehab. In 6 months, Starr was replaced with Inez and Layne was a huge mess in 93, while still touring for Dirt. The label forced him into rehab that year. It's too much to be coincidence that both Layne and Mike Starr went to that shop, Starr was the last person to see him alive and in less than 10 years, he too had died. That Wicca voodoo, black magic Ouija board stuff is really nothing to play with. I truly think that was the turning point that lead to their untimely demise.
