Lyrics:
I don't wanna be a soldier mama
I don't wanna die
Well
I don't wanna be a sailor mama
I don't wanna fly
Well
I don't wanna be a failure mama
I don't wanna cry
Well
I don't wanna be a soldier mama
I don't wanna die
Oh no
Well
I don't wanna be a rich man mama
I don't wanna cry
Well
I don't wanna be a poor man mama
I don't wanna fly
Well
I don't wanna be a lawyer mama
I don't wanna lie
Well
I don't wanna be a soldier mama
I don' wanna die
Oh no
Well
I don't wanna be a beggar mama
I don't wanna die
Well
I don't wanna be a thief now mama
I don't wanna fly
Well
I don't wanna be a church man mama
I don't wanna cry
Well
I don't wanna be a soldier mama
I don't wanna die
Oh no

Oh what an immense surprise and blessing to watch finally those unreleased songs from the live at the Moore, and this one... wow it's outstanding! How couldn't it feature with Wake Up in the original video tape?!!! Uncountable thanks to the person who filmed these from the balcony :)) and to (probably) Mike and Barett who released it!
@commenter6763

Always wondered why "Wake Up" wasn't on the VHS release. Since the Deluxe Edition of the Above album was released, it has the live performance from the Moore show of that song. In it, Layne forgets a part of the lyrics. I think back then for a commercial release there was more pressure to have things be flawless or close to it. But I'm just guessing.
If Lennon could have heard this... Layne's like having 4 extra musicians on stage.. he's like 2 more bassists and 2 more rhythm/lead guitarists inside his angst, and being, that come out thru his vocal chord's.
Great recording! Just fucking cranks on my stereo! Beautiful human beings!

Great John Lennon song. Mad Season tore it up!!! FUCKING AWESOME!!!
The 90's were a great time for music and freedom. So many great albums from every genre. Above is easily in the top 3 albums of that decade. All killer no filler.
Considering the plight of the Seattle band front man (20% survival rate) and speaking from the perspective of a combat veteran, I think Lane would have had a better chance of surviving life as a soldier than he did as the very gifted Seattle front man he was. (Arguably the best of the top 5)
