ABSOLUTELY STUNNING !!!!!!!!!! I LOVE ALL THE COLOR !!!!!!! that is one thing that I find strange or frankly irritates me a little, is that some people/gardeners feel like you can't mix colors, or have a riot of color. How can you go wrong with what mother nature gave us ? Embrace the beauty of what God created.

My backyard is a mix of all the lovely colors I love. After all it's for my pleasure anyway! Trying to keep a smaller color pallet for front yard though.

Our tastes differ totally, Linda. On my part, my eyes (and my brain) can't handle a 'riot of colours'. It hurts my eyes for real! I guess, just as with clothing styles and home décor, some of us prefer a 'riot', while others, like me, prefer softer colour schemes. - I did find some really beautiful plant combinations, (if I just squinted my eyes to the most clashing signal colours), and I did get inspired to try out a few new combinations in my cutting garden. :) // Ingela, Sweden

  • @snu3877

I could not agree more. I am fascinated by the fact that colors that would clash horribly in an outfit, somehow do not in a garden. In fact, a 'clash' can be more exciting than a demure mix of expected colors, such as pink, white, blue, purple. I wish I could credit the author, but I remember reading that a gardener mixed all blue and yellow plants, and she said it was as dull as the flag of Sweden on a windless day. She popped in some orange to go with the blue, and wow!! Engaging and vibrant.

@@inglishhomeandgarden8386 I am with you. Some of the mixes just clashed with me. Of course, that is a personal preference!! They were still beautiful on their own.💐🌿🌾🌻🌺

This should have been obvious to me, but for some reason I never put it together: the gardens are for tourist season, tourists like color, and it doesn’t matter what they look like year round, as long as they’re impactful during high season. Thanks for that insight!

I’ve been to the Texas hill country to enjoy the wildflowers. I’ve been to the Biltmore Estate in the spring, summer, and fall to enjoy their gardens. Just loved it, pointing out what you viewed, brought out things I would never have considered, Mackinac Island is on my bucket list and I hope to get there someday. Would love to have seen more gardens, thanks Erin, that was like going on a short vacation for me!

This is my favorite place to visit in Michigan. Thank you for sharing. You’ve done a phenomenal job videotaping and narrating with the unique details about each plant and flowers. This is a beautiful n great job done! Love it!!

Reminds me of Nantucket, Cape Cod, Jersey shore. Something about the light near a large body of water makes colors jump at you. Also it seems the flowers never die or need deadheading.....wonder if there are midnight gardeners that make the rounds.

Not midnight gardeners, all day everyday gardeners that are busily mowing, weeding and upkeeping. You see them everywhere.

Great advice to get away and great tour. Beautiful gardens up there. I enjoy Jack Barnwells videos of homes that you would never see as a visitor up there! Thanks for sharing!

I love all different colors and plants mixed together . I really think that looks so beautiful just what Mother Nature intended. I think only people have rules for what plants and colors should be next to each other.
