    @@Aecor not gonna happen anytime. The titanium PowerBook G4 only lasted for 2 years. Whereas since 2003 Apple has been using Aluminum with their notebooks. Al is a better conductor of heat than Ti so why tf would Apple switch back?

    I mean not really yes their prices are off and their 10th gen chips were garbage but their tiger lake chips are actually half decent on thin and lights and their graphic capabilities with the xe are much much better than the m1 .I think intel although are under pressure I think they did enough to make them an option with ryzen and apple.

    The “what if it was carbon batteries” argument really hit home with me. I really think people would see these DRASTICALLY differently if it was something like that even if the specs were exactly the same. Which kinda says something.

    @Iqbal Muhammad Yet no one has even claimed to have 20hrs of batfery life before. It might not actually reach 20hrs on every unit they sell but it will definitely be significantly more than previous macbooks. It also makes sense technologically, the M1 is ARM based and apple is able to integrate that hardware with their own MacOS. I do not use macbooks and I am not a fan yet of apple computers because I game, but this one is indeed impressive.

    @Iqbal Muhammad I'm sure these numbers are only in ideal scenarios, but the difference scale would still be similar. If the older Macbooks lasted 8 hours instead of 10 or 12, and this new one lasts 16 instead of 20, that's still a huge improvement.

    actually there are a lot of ppl who buy a laptop as a desktop just for the size. esp ppl who move a lot and students. the battery is only used as a UPS. So it’s not that useful to have 50% more battery life

    @@silphate9836 I can't recommend it personally since I've also never used a Mac (mainly because of the availability and pricing in my country). Do look out for some reviews before buying it though. Also, the transition might take some time to get used to. Good luck!

    The other good point about that battery life is that, in 5 years, when your battery is weaker, you'll still get a good 8 hours of use out of your macbook.

    video playback battery life is skewed because it gets hardware acceleration (it closer to double for video playback) . but on average the battery life across the devices is much closer to 50%

Xps13 - 12h - real life testing Spectra - 13h - real life testing Mac book air intel - 11h - real life testing. Considering that this is just apple claim and many apps will be simulated, battery doesn't seem that impressive. I was hoping for 30h for video playback, but apparently apple had to make the chip more powerful, and that reduced power efficiency.

    Thank you! Someone spoke about the battery! And yeah. I'm super disappointed by the same camera and the very expensive upgrades 🤦‍♀️ but I ordered my macbook pro yesterday as I was waiting for this launch since July. Also, my old laptop was the hp envy 2015. So this will definitely be better (though I still love my old laptop, worked for me so well for 5 years)

    @@emperorcyber509 I really don’t want to be that guy, but my xps 9380 was broken recently within 2 years, and it cost me hell a lot to fix the motherboard. Can you believe it? A £1700 device doesn’t even last two years, it overheats whenever it is charged, their software especially support assist and memory management is so bad, one of the keyboard key broke and dell propose to change the whole keyboard, and now the screen doesn’t turn on anymore. There are just so many small issue that annoys me from time to time. I don’t want to start with how bad the fan is draining the battery life all the time. Yes, I am pissed because I really want to love xps from their simplicity design. Dell laptop quality control and reliability is so bad, just head over to their forum and see those issue I mentioned is not uncommon. I feel that the overheating is the one that damage my motherboard and caused it to be completely broken right now. I am so into their new xps design this year, but sorry, I had enough with dell premium range laptop.

    @@theoneonly5368 Man this is why I don't like Apple as a whole; though I like their products. Their fanboys are just like Trump supporters lol. Dell products might be shit, but they've been making billions in the corporate industry for years. Apple may have revolutionized the laptop, but companies like Dell and HP revolutionized manufacturing and supply chain. It's why you see so many companies in even the gov using Windows and not Mac, but that might change soon.

    @@echovd7824 Because its more powerful then any windows laptop of the same formfactor, has double the battery life of its predecessor (which was already had WAY better battery life than any windows machine), and looks... great. This is coming from someone who has built multiple PCs and uses a Pixel, btw. Blindly hating on apple, even though their hardware AND software outperform their competitors (in a lot of situations, anyway) is very sheep like. Dont be a fucking sheep.

    To be fair, battery life is far more important that bezel size though. Sure the MacBooks still for whatever reason looks dated, but at least this new M1 chip if the marketing holds up aims to actually to address the more important things. I guess Apple may eventually update the design soon. That 720p low quality web cam has to be improved for such an expensive machine.

    @@kornkernel2232 I think they wanted to keep the MBA at 999 so developing a new chassis/bezel-free design would have pushed the price up too high. Especially with the pandemic. I think the iMac will be the first of several new designs rolled out next year, with the 16" (or 14" if they're developing one) being the first laptop getting restyled.

    For the Macbook Air you get 512GB and one extra GPU core for 200$ more. 256GB, 7 cores 512GB, 8 cores And its probably one of these high Performance ones. So you get double the storage und better GPU.

    Also, the SSD speeds of the old macbook air are 1000mb/s reading and writing. The new model has 2000mb/s if that is true what apple claims. So it is not a cheap SSD. Its probably still 50$ too expensive but hey its Apple...

Since the 14” will come next year on the higher end model, to give ppl another reason to upgrade to the more expensive MacBook pros before bringing the bezel treatment to the low end models. I hope they finally put HD webcams though
