Lol it will only get better not worse, U know what apple is like. The M2 or M1X will be supported native X86 apps without emulation with a 110% boost in FPS from the M1 chip and 85% boost in performance on CPU tasks from the M1 chip with the new M1X/M2 chip.. Knowing apple, it will go down that path.

Hate it or love it, Apple is good for technology more than not. They push the market forward and lead other companies to try and improve themselves.
As a windows person, this has single handedly convinced me to try a macbook for the first time ever.

Likewise and loving it, it’s stunning fast… bought the mini m1 with 16ram, which replaced air m1 with 8ram as I realised I don’t need mobility, which replaced surface book 3 high end spec with 32ram which was sluggish as after using it for a year

I love MacOS BUT also need Windows. After mucking around M1, Parallels, etc I have settled with Intel MacBook Pro with dedicated graphics card. If you plan to use anything on windows, do yourself a favour and stay away from M1. As such intel MacBooks are pretty fast for my use - Photoshop, Web, Etc.
Suddenly the M1 Air looks to be the best all round laptop, just like when the Air first came out.

Yea man, I have an XPS 15 and the only thing keeping me from selling this one and buying this is the screen size lol. If they release a 16-inch version I'm probably switching, especially if the graphics performance is comparable.

I think its pretty much done for them now, atleast for a couple of years. They can't just lower the prices down for the offered performance because that'd look really bad on them looking at their history. The only option that they have is to come up with something really amazing outperforming all competition, which is again extremely hard since they have little control over other hardware that goes into the system as opposed to apple. Thank god now there is healthy competition for companies like nvidia and intel.

@@theojones6129 Fan's just aren't a part of apple's "sleek" design language. This is what they wanted all along and Intel couldn't provide with their space heater CPU's. Even if they could, I bet they were aiming at making their own silicon for macs for a while now, it was inevitable after the success of their mobile SOC's.

if you're interested in video editing stuff, check out Max Tech or Max Yuryev channels, that's what he specializes in, and the M1 kills it in that space. Faster than their $15k Mac Pro.

Intel is good for reliability and I am team AMD. There is a reason why when Apple announced that they are moving, Intel stocks didn't fall rapidly because that isn't Intel's market, servers side is where Intel makes a butt ton of money

Just because you cannot change simply a RAM/Storage/Some part of the Mobo, but you have to trash the old and replace it with new generating more waste and complications! Because of such attitude makes apple more money off of people and yet doesn’t provide REAL SERVICE, just ripp offs!

on that video i found an explanation of why we can´t measure the m1 chip against intel/amd: ''The M1 is a RISC CPU based on the ARM instruktion set. Intel and AMD build CISC CPUs use the x_86 architecture with alot more special instructions. The performance of all RISC architectures is very workload dependent. Thats why we need a comprehensive performance test. RISC CPUs have mostly/always very high IPC because they have simple and small instructions. The downside is, that there are certain calculations, where Intel/AMD only needs to execute one instruction, but the M1 might need multiple. Thats why you don't compare IPCs and clockspeed across very different architectures.'' so even if the chips are this awesome, they can't be compared against the others because they don't work in the same way..

I think one kind of big aspect about the M1 Macs that’s not really brought up that much is the price. If you buy the cheapest option for any of these Macs, you still get the best performance possible. It’s a pretty significant difference when you used to have to pay to spec up from an i3.

Microsoft doesnt need to be scared lol. Huge amounts of people are not going to switch to Macbooks just because they started to use ARMs... People do not care about that, they care about apps that windows has, which so far has bigger amounts than Macs. And anyway, Windows is not their main source of income for like 10 years already. It makes less than 15% of all profit.

@USSF - United States Space Force Yeah, but mine has a cracked screen and trackpad, bad battery life, old HDD, and the system is like 6 years old so it can die anytime. It’ll probably be best just to get a new, more powerful laptop.

My MacBook Pro mid 2012 has seven years and is still keeping up for music production, hardware wise impecable, but its time has come, I’m upgrading to the macbook pro M1 so i expect a massive upgrade, even with Rosetta 2 emulation.

Mr. IDGAF changed it to an ssd and upgrade the ram, i did that a year ago and has gave me sometime to save for this new ones, but maybe your hardware is too bad to keep up.

my mac pro is the first unibody design which is mid2008 and even with after the upgraded maxed ram and ssd it still stutter like crazy and battery is dead so it's always plugged on which is why i just use my desktop most of the time xD
Just a note, Rosetta 2 isn’t emulation, it’s translation that is done on app launch.

Rosetta 2 is the equivalent of IBM TIMI which is why it is so effective

@@videosuperhighway7655 it’s not, TIMI has a Machine Interface, which is a virtual machine. Rosetta 2 is not a virtual machine, it translates the binary into native machine code.
