I´m 38 and a Windows user for 25 years. Got a MB Pro M1 from our company to test for 2 weeks and I was blown away so I ordered a 16GB MBP with 512GB myself and cant wait to get it on tuesday. As much as I like Windows Laptops and I will still continue to use them for work, it´s the first time in my life I will own a Mac and i Think it´s one of the smartest IT decisions I made in the last years.

Buddy, you might regret your purchase... These things use the SSD's for virtual ram and 16GB is really not that great, even with the hardware optimizations. People who are using their mac's for work are reporting extremely high wear rates on the SSDs. Some people are reporting up to 10-13% SSD usage in just 2 months.... that's abysmal for any computer, especially computers with un-swappable ram or storage. Anyway, you're way past your return date now, so hopefully your work IT job doesn't require your computer to do any "heavy lifting".

I like apple for that, but I do, however like the power to the performance of a windows laptop for gaming because I like that kind of stuff, but if you are looking for something that just works, apple is the right thing for you and the m1 has benefits like battery life like days of use, the power to do some creative work, and the silence to not annoy the person next to you or the people next to you in the Starbucks you are working in while sipping a latte working on that paper you had to get done yesterday in highschool or college

In 1899, people here in the States were polled on the future of transportation and most stated either: A) More railways & B) Faster horses. Not many people saw the mechanical motor/cars being part of that future. I feel that we are at a similar precipice where we've all being boxed in with AMD/Intel/Nvidia sandbox and haven't considered that we are at a place of stagnation. Apple seems to be breaking that stagnation. Let's see where this ride takes us....... Ravi Peiris M.D.

It's a tough call for me. The most heavy work I foresee doing is music recording, likely through Logic, potentially recording multiple tracks simultaneously with multiple plug-ins and such. I just don't want to run into a situation where I run out of power or things start getting choppy. I really have no idea if this type of workload is more or less than mild-moderate 4k video editing. Either way, I want to see what M1X will offer and for what price. I debate Air, M1X 14", or wait even longer for the new Air.

I thought I was a Windows user who couldn’t switch to MacOS but since most of my work stuff is cloud based it was really easy.
