in all fairness 1.6k for 8gb of ram is a bit funny. But, actually, one thing to look at it discounted m1 and m2 :D Price will be a bit lower.

In my experience, coming from a M1 Pro it doesn't worth the upgrade. Few people realized how much powerful are these chips. Tempted but not needed. Amazing video as usual!

Hi Aivars. I love your videos and streams, man. Keep it up. I want to get into iOS / Android development. I was thinking on buying a cheap macbook to start. Do you think this one is enough for iOS development? -> macbook pro 2013 quadcore core i7 16gb RAM. Thanks!

Not sure you will be able to get latest macOS and Xcode on that machine. Check if that is still supported. If budget is very limited, mac mini can be better deal.

As a software developer, any Mx cpu is more than enough. Even 512GB of SSD might be enough, although is on the lower end. However, I'm not working on any machine with less than 32 GB. Since most companies purchase, in the best case scenarios, 1440p screens, I prefer to look at a 16" laptop screen. The text that is not crisp enough really bother me. In my case, the only reason to upgrade from M1 Max, other than natural causes, is a much faster SSD. Not the case yet.

I just bought a new MacBook Pro with the M2 Max chip to focus more on iOS development. It's a bit sad to see that the M3 chip was just announced one week later :/ But for me, owning a MacBook Pro 2012 from before, this was a big performance update :D I have usually been programming on a Windows machine, but I forgot how great it is to work on a Mac. The experience is just so enjoyable, I can't imagine going back to Windows again.

M2 Max is more than sufficient for iOS development, another perspective is that you could have saved some money going with M1 chip instead. Max chips are more suitable for video editing and some ML projects. For mobile app development Max chips are itself an overkill.

16" is better. Bigger screen. Bigger speakers. Better heat management. And most important is that 16" has more area to rest your palms while typing, with 14" you will feel the palm resting on the edge , and thats uncomfortable

If anyone in the comments can please help me? I am thinking of buying a MacBook M3 pro 11 core, 12 core pro or a 14 core M3 Max, 18 GB or 36 would be enough, but I would like to know the difference when running MATLAB, Apple's office page is very ambiguous in the data, gives some graphs without specifying which test was done, and in the end he says little about what he did, such as the number 12 or the numeral 14-- for example the 12) Testing conducted by Apple in September and October 2023 using preproduction 14-inch MacBook Pro systems with Apple M3 Pro, 12-core CPU, 18-core GPU, 36GB of RAM, and 4TB SSD, production 14-inch MacBook Pro systems with Apple M2 Pro, 12-core CPU, 19-core GPU, 32GB of RAM, and 8TB SSD, production 14-inch MacBook Pro systems with Apple M1 Pro, 10-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 32GB of RAM, and 8TB SSD, and production 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7-based 13-inch MacBook Pro systems with Intel Iris Plus Graphics, 32GB of RAM, and 4TB SSD. Tested with MATLAB and Simulink R2023b v23.2.0 and Parallel Computing Toolbox using a vehicle dynamics model. Performance tests are conducted using specific computer systems and reflect the approximate performance of MacBook Pro.
