M12AR Shotgun!

I'm amazed at how this gun is so incredibly cheap! I wish I could talk about how few "doll hairs" you have to exchange for this thing, but then I'd get demonetized, get a channel strike, etc. With a little research you can find out about this bargain sporting/home defense/plinking shotgun!

Sportsman's is a sham and they treated us like real trash during covid and kept the transfers they denied when the state didn't answer in 3 days here in Oregon. Who else uses Mark Serbu's videos to fall asleep with because his voice is so soothing? My sleep is all messed up because of medications I take and I have to nap during the day sometimes due to that, but Mark comes through for me every time. Every video is great and interesting and I love the content, and I love falling to sleep on them because it makes for some pleasant dreams of automatic weapons dancing through my head. In one of them, Royal Nonesuch was running toward Mark and me across a large green field in slow motion, carrying something of a strange shape and yelling out, "I made a machine gun out of mechanical babies...!" I really liked that one.

They will ROCK AND ROLL! Auto sear tripping surface needs to be lengthened about a 1/4”, the bolt rides quite a bit higher in the upper than standard m4/m16. Needs a tinyyyy little bit shaved off the front of the bolt carrier to clear the sear as the bolt comes back. And then for the bolt I pinned a piece of shaft with a small arm sticking down off of it into the rear of the bolt carrier to trip the auto sear. Gun got registered on a form2 a couple years ago, got just a touch over 22-2300 rounds though it since then! Cycles great full auto with 2.75” buckshot and most 1300fps+ stuff, 3inch shells are kinda iffy, runs some hotter #7 and 8 birdshot on semi auto without the added weight of the sear tripping pin in the bolt carrier, but It LOVES Rio Royal 1345fps 2 3/4” #00 buckshot with the giggle switch on! I can send you pics and videos, I think there’s a few on my Insta ripping up a car door too

Saiga 12 did the same wrecking of the hull...when it threw the hulls 15ft away...... You needed a lot of pressure in a Ponsness Warren reloader to get that hull base reformed... and that only worked with brass bases of course. The red dot sight (even a cheap one) was a lot of fun with the Saiga when shooting clays. Learner shooters understood immediately to fire when the red dot was on the clay....and the clay was rising in a straight line away from the shooter. Couldn't miss....... and that instilled confidence.. and kept their mind off "the fearsome 12g recoil"....

Serbu's insight into R&D is so interesting and inpiring! I've been obsessing over the lever delayed blowbacks lately. The Rudd wedge delay AR is particularly interesting. I believe a Famas style action would be well suited to the AR18 package. I also believe a lever delayed blowback AR18 flipped for a beltfed would make a very reliable SAW. My state is very strict. As an unlicensed amatuer, I have playing with wood blocks just to see what layout is the most promising.

I have to say I love this gun. I bought a Chinese AK rifle in 1999 and still have it and it's never had a malfunction. They are capable of making good reliable firearms in China. This company also has several AK versions of this shotgun. I wish more American companies did things like this. I saw a lot of innovative things on this. I would trust it for home defense after running a few boxes through it. The website does say that it shoots both 2-3/4 in and 3 in shotgun shells. They also have a 10 round magazine for this.

I have the M12AR B1 , hand guard is like the M16 A2 and has the metal front sight w/ adjustable pin, also comes with a adjustable rear sight that attaches on the rail. It functions identical as this model. All the same choke adjust, and screw in choke barrel, chrome lined barrel. Had it for two years, I keep it oiled well, like my old M16 A2 when in the Army. I run 1330 or higher 2 3/4 quality shells. In the break in period, it would miss cycle once in a while, but now that its broke in and well oiled, its a smooth cycling semi auto. Ive run bird, buck, cut shell and several types of slugs through it, handles all well. Like a AR15, keep it oiled good and use quality shells, that is the biggest part of good cycling, those cheap 5.56 for AR15 screw up too in the rifle, it very picky for good ammo. For cheap practice I use winchester fast dove 1350 which cycle well, then from there i increase the FTPS . I trust it for home defense.

I believe that spring in the buffer is a dampener for if/when it bottoms out in the buffer tube. Maybe it’s there to limit damage if someone shoots a hot load when the gas port is all the way open. I’d be concerned if it was bottoming consistently though. If it’s slamming into the back of the buffer tube, it could tear the threads out or break the end of the tube.

I mean for the price. That is normally the price of a pump action so worth it just to see if the thing works. You got the cool color I can not find anymore.

Looks like those dents come from the base of the shell hitting the back of the ejection port.

I built a 10" SBS off one of these with a collapsible stock. I trimmed a standard buffer and spring down to make it work but I can't get it to run with anything but buckshot.

I'd like to know what the metal quality is like of the critical components. I got the AK version for $250 and it ran great. Front trunnion looks cast though so doesn't inspire confidence for longevity. I would love to hear from anyone with a high round count through it.

I think it's funny they used the Ming font for the engraved lettering. It's one of those things that just pops out at you after a while, smacks you in the face, and screams "China!".

Serbu, what happens when you fire a 223/5.56 down a smooth bore barrel? It's not a rifle, nor a pistol? Cheaper to produce? Legal in more jurisdictions?

If that lower receiver works with a dpms 308, than it would be worth having. outside of that. I like how its made, or at least the principal of how its made and how the handguard mount.✌
