What a ripper you need to run something preferably owned by JH

I found it funny how you kept underestimating the tank, only to realize that its a tank. 🤣🤣🤣 I've seen what tanks can do up close and personal, so I just got a chuckle every time you said something like that and waited for your shock as it handled it like nothing. Edit, I feel like I should tell you the weaknesses ahead of time so you don't have to find out yourself. #1 This might seem obvious, but they don't float and they aren't submarines. If its a couple feet over the tracks, you might want to stay out of it. #2 Cliffs or steep inclines should always be taken head on. DO NOT try to traverse them from the side. Its not weak to it by any means, quite the opposite actually/damn near impossible to flip; but if you do actually flip a tank, its really really really hard to recover it. In that moment, you will hate life. #3 The tracks themselves are the weakest link. Always give them a once over before you go out and rip her. #4 Trees and barbwire fences aren't really an obstacle for a tank until they are. I hope you never find out what that means. 🤣

Cleetus did clip a tree already though in the video when he picked it up. Wasn’t anything major because it’s a tank but I don’t wanna know how hard you gotta hit a tree for it to be a problem in a tank.

The best part about these videos is that he makes money on them. Cleet is literally making money off of having fun. He’s literally living the dream, the hard work he’s constantly putting in pays off for him

There were escape hatches installed, unless they were removed. The design and development by the Howe Brothers was on discovery or TLC. I think it was on for a couple of seasons. One entire episode was dedicated to a roll over water and escape of the Ripsaw. They also make mining equipment.

The absolute joy on Garrett’s face is amazing! Such a humble and loving guy! Much love from central Massachusetts!!

I do not know why, but watching the RIPSAW at work just puts a smile on my face.

Cleetus is definitely the perfect owner for the Ripsaw!!! He is actually using it the way it should be used. Great video!

You should do a timelapse when cleaning the ripsaw. It would be very satisfying seeing all the mud being removed from the tracks!

One of my favorite things about Cleetus is that he lets his friends use his equipment and NEVER blames them if something breaks.

@@ash.ton998 My father is in motorsports and I now he would not loan his car to anyone. Then again if he crashes it he just shrugs his shoulders and says, that's racing for you. If someone else crashed it he would be pretty upset. Cleetus is respected not for his content but his attitude to life and his generous nature.

When you replace the skid plate add a thick polymor sheet like the ones used on airboat. It's a slick material that protect and helps you slide over obstacles. Airboat use it to run on dry land.

You want HDPE or UHMW, and don't use more than one sheet...just get a thicker sheet.

Think there needs to be a skid plate up grade and maybe some conards to deflect water from washing over the windscreen. Loving the Ripper content. One of the reasons I enjoy this Chanel so much is it has a bit of everything. Drifting, drag racing, skids and off-road stuff too!

Been a longtime cleetus fan (since his days at 1320 video) and I can't imagine how lucky maddi must feel lol. You're an amazing person, an awesome inspiration and it's made me smile recently thinking what she's put up with being with you🤣 after your hovercraft incident it wouldn't surprise me if she was scared, worried but always having a blast being with you. i was a Tank Commander on the Leopard2 Tank and i can say: Driving a real Tank through some heavy mud and terrain is one of the most incredible feelings you can get. its just unstoppable (mostly :) ) one of the most terrible things that can happen is to trow a track on heavy terrain. dont turn on the spot if you are in heavy mud ;)

I drove and gunned and commanded a Warrior APC in the British army there’s nothing like ripping across sand and dirt in a tracked vehicle 👍👍👍 but getting them really really stuck is a royal pain in the ass. And definitely an expensive proposition when you have to buy the REME guys beer for pulling your sorry asses out of some massive mud hole on a training area 🤣🤣🤣

I drive a mini excavator. It’s basically a rip saw without the ripping. Dip saw, slow saw, dig saw. Hopefully we don’t get a r.i.p. rip saw anytime soon.

Be pretty cool if you could run an actual tank obstacle course like what they use to train the M1 Abrams crews. Probably have to go to Texas or Idaho for that. Ripsaw vs Abrams time trials and drag race and tug pull. Be hilarious if nothing else :)

I know just before Howe & Howe sold it to Textron they had a Ripsaw that would do 70MPH off-road. THIS obviously isn't one of the later models though. It would be interesting to see that competition though.

Not much of an "obstacle course". I went through in 2010 in Kentucky, and it was basically just a bunch of deep holes and trails out in the middle of nowhere. That Kentucky clay is something else though. Let it get damp and packed down, and its like ice.

Heavy tanks don't like steep climbs. This is a light tank. It will happily climb a 45 degree incline or 50 degree gradient. (The approach angle of the nose will stop from doing more than 45 without an eased approach.)

@@martindinner3621 The ripsaw is not technically a tank. More of a tracked utility vehicle. Couldn’t even call it armoured personnel carrier as it has no protection for occupants from enemy fire. Maybe a tracked reconnaissance vehicle at a push owing to its speed and manoeuvrability.

Vehicles with gullwing style doors like this have solved that problem by adding explosive bolts to the door hinges that fire when accelerometers detect a roll over event. AMG uses something similar in the SLS series. I don't think this vehicle is street legal so they wouldn't be held to those type of safety standards. It very well might be a major safety risk that doesn't have a solution because it wasn't legally required to address it for a recreational vehicle.
