US tanks operated by US army along Swedish army's Leopard 2 during exercise in Sweden. No Ukrainians - not in Ukraine. If the mud is soft enough ruzzian tanks get stuck as well - they may have wider tracks, but they also have a lot less horsepower.

This looks like a recovery training exercise. Western tanks have rubber pads, fine for the road but not much use in thick mud. That's why Russian tanks have all metal tracks, they are better in conditions like this. Regardless, it's all too little too late.

Western tanks use rubber pads when they can. But in combat situations on muddy roads or terrain they use steel pads.

@@Slaktrax No, they are not. All you have to do is kick out the rubber pads, and put steel pads in exactly same spot. I know it because i have done it so many times. It is the same way tank crews replace worn out rubber pads, Out with the old and in with the new.

@@artugaradukin6119 And how long is that going to take replacing 4 x 96 track pads. No they are not kicked out you need to use a sledge hammer and either a crow bar or drift pin. That's going to take most of the day even with a full crew working on it. I've heard of grousers being fitted but not to replace the whole track with them. As I said, with 96 links per track and each has two track pads it ain't going to work regardles of what you think.

@@artugaradukin6119 The point is the Russian tanks are more suitable for muddy terrain, they don't need to do any corrective maintenance. But as usual you need to start splitting hairs.

This video is showing US M1A1 Abrams tanks from USMC on training in Norway with norwegian tankers.

It seems some people took the videos seriously, so here is a fact check. The first video, "This Vehicle Can Free A Stuck M1 Abrams Tank", was shot in Setermoen, Norway, in 2016. The second one, "M1 Abrams Stuck in Mud / M1A1 OFF Roading", was uploaded on KZread in 2010. The third one is from US Marine Corps training in Storas, Norway, in october of 2018. Nr 4, "STUCK in THE MUD! How to recover a VERY EXPENSIVE military vehicle with an M984 WRECKER!" was probably shot in feb. 2018. The footage was provided by Fort McCoy military base (Wisconsin). So none of these videos are from Ukraine. Leopard tanks are already in Ukraine. Abrams tanks are nor.

The video of the M1A1 “self recovery” is old footage from the Fort Moore Armored Training School in Georgia U.S.A. Not Europe. And yes, 70 ton tracked vehicles get stuck in non supportive terrain. Hence the training & use of recovery tactics and vehicles. The only vehicle that I know of that hasn’t got stuck in the mud is my 1964 VW Beetle. 🤪

"Russian footwrap" always lie

As far as I know, none of the Abrams has been delivered to Ukraine yet. So this footage is either from another country or it is not Abrams/Leopard 2 in the video. Third option is that this is from exercises before the war but I don´t think Abrams ever visited Ukraine as they did not have such massive exercises.

None of those tanks had been filmed in ukraine. However it's easy to imagine that unkranian mud is as nasty or most probably much more nasy than this. Leo2 and Abrams were designed to be used in theatres with well-developed road system, as far as i know ukranians are yet to built one.

At what point was Ukraine shown in this movie? . The starting point is Norway. The next part they speak with an American accent. Part 3 of the movie unmarked. 4 part 7: 35 mins. movie. Looks like Americans. The last part - Americans hear the words. Not a single minute of this video comes from Ukraine.

Instructive video from US-Norwegian exercise. You can clearly see norwegian nationality signs of the personnel.

We were always taught to rig the towing cables underneath the belly of the bogged tank to it's far end towing eyes. That way, when the rescue tank pulls the victim tank, it breaks the belly suction/friction..... A messy job to rig, but you can drag the tow cables just inboard of the victims tracks usually....
