Lupus - Diagnosis, Medication and Living with Lupus (2019)

In this video, I talk about what Lupus is, how Lupus is diagnosed, what medication you have to take and what it's like living with Lupus.
To begin with, I explain that Lupus is an autoimmune disease that causes damage and inflammation to health tissue cells in your body.
Following this, I highlight the different types of Lupus and the most common one among Lupus sufferers.
It can be very difficult to diagnose Lupus, even now in 2019. I go through the reason why this is the case and highlight what signs and symptoms people need to look out for if they think they have Lupus.
The reason why certain people are more likely to get Lupus is also an area that needs a lot more research. I talk about different ethnic groups and possible environmental factors that could be a reason behind this.
Next, I discuss what medication I took to control my Lupus and explain how important it is to take the right amount of medication, on time throughout the day. I also highlight what future health complications may arise due to Lupus.
Finally, I talk about what it's like living with Lupus. I talk about what it's like struggling with fatigue, going on holiday, planning your day around your medication and having to attend hospital often for regular check ups.

I was diagnosed with Lupus some thirty years ago & to-date have not taken any medication at all & that's the absolute truth. No medication for any ailments including arthritis, diabetes II & many other discomforts over the years, but eat & live sensibly - not allowing stress or anxiety to play a part and do not smoke, drink or take any allopathics whatsoever .

Thank you so much for sharing this video of your life experience of Lupus. I was diagnosed in2004 19 years ago, Nairobi hospital after a 3 yrs battling. Even after diagnosis it was had to get a right Dr here at home, made me to fly to india forth and back for 7yrs. I thank God that when i started attending Rheumatology clinic, am doing better. Even there are ups and downs here and there. With these experiences and researches are of great help. Thank you

This is a great video; thanks for explaining things in depth. I was officially diagnosed this year, but have had symptoms (elevated labs) with no outward symptoms. I did not experience outward symptoms until November 2020 and they just increased into 2021 ( hair thinning, hair loss, ulcers in my mouth, rash on my face, continued flare of hip and bil. leg pain, seizures, dizziness, etc. I am praying for all my Lupus family🙏🏽💜🦋 This battle is not mine; it’s the Lord’s. God will never put more on us than we can bear. I have 2 other incurable diseases I’ve been fighting since 7/2017 ( Empty Sella Syndrome and Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension). But Lupus has really taken a tole on my body. I refuse to allow any of these diseases to ruin my life. Nothing we go through in life happens by chance. It’s a reason why we go through pain, disappointment, ups and downs in our life. I just give it all to God and take care of myself, research, exercise and eat healthy. I got more life to live. The key to overcoming anything in my opinion is “Staying Positive and Prayed Up!”🙏🏽💜🦋

I was 9 years old when I was diagnosed and I'm 55 years old now. I've had so many different symptoms and it's been very hard on me. I've had 3 kidney transplants and hope this one it the last one. I can write a book on all the things that this body has gone through !! Thank God he has got me through this ugly disease! My mom had lupus so my 2 sister have lupus as well. I think this video is very helpful for people that have SLE Lupus.

I've been spending lots of money weekly on buying the popular Supplements just to suppress my Lupus outbreaks as prescribed to me in the hospital. Anyone who has LUPUS can attest this, with all the pains and embarrassing symptoms. Unfortunately, I have found out that those hospital recommended products are frequently not effective at taking care of the problem but rather make you spend all your money. Until I met DR.AVE UDUOGIE, the Herbalist. His herbal remedy will get to the root of the cause and cure you permanently rather than suppress outbreaks with Medical pills which Causes serious damage to the body. And you will be happier, healthier, and outbreak free. He also has herbal remedies that can cure HIV, HPV, hepatitis and so on. Contact DR.AVE UDUOGIE on his email Curingstdswithherbs@gmail.com or WhatsApp/Call +1(978)4896010. Thank you for your video. I don't have Lupus, however, I have Celiac Disease and DH which is an autoimmune disease. I see a similar pattern with autoimmune diseases. INFLAMMATION. Whenever I had a flare up, I lost my hair, had anemia, got a horrible blistery and itchy rash, suffered with muscular and joint pain, horrible fatigue, migraines and my blood felt thick and like it was on fire. Many people think that people with Celiac disease just have to stay away from gluten. NOT SO!!! I found out through my own experience that lectins (gluten is just one type of lectin), but lections will cause my body to go haywire. My flare ups sometimes last for 6 months or longer. Diet is extremely important for all people with autoimmune disease and not all doctors are trained in "nutrition", so they don't know and realize this. They are trained in medicine. Keep in mind, medications have long term side effects. Those of us out there with autoimmune diseases sometimes know more than the doctors because we suffer with the disease. Be your own advocate and take care.

Love the video Mark! I would like to add that in most patients lupus is sensitive to uv-light. So even if you don't take a medication that increase the risk of skin cancer, it is important to protect yourself from the sunlight as not to trigger a flare or worsen the lupus symptoms. Looking forward to watch your other videos. Keep up the great work and take good care

I have SLE male 59. First incidents I was 9 years old. Symptoms came back in my late 40s. I worked for a few years sick and did not know why. I don't even go to doctors anymore. That's just me. I moved to Colorado for MM. I was a football player and wrestler. The fatigue never ends, normal bodies recover we don't. Our bodies are fighting the immune system at rest! So a good night sleep is rare. I'm thankful for SSDI and I do art because unable too do what I use to before the onset. You will find what's best for your Lupus. I'm scared of the anti-immune drugs.I feel so sorry for my comrades who have to take it for their say kidneys. We can get through. ❤️😎🔥

I’m a male with lupus also. Glad to see another male speaking up. I was only diagnosed October 7th, but probably have had it for several years based on my labs. I’m 58. So very outside the norm. Because I was undiagnosed for so long I wasn’t able to work for years, and my finances are in tatters. Also as a citizen of the US which pretty much has a “safety net” of 19th century Dickensian England. On the the subject of “race”; race is a poor human construct. Different cultures have different ideas of “race”. Most researched believe as the understanding of lupus progresses so will the understand of the demographics of the patients it’s found in.

I never used to get sick as a child, other than getting 'sick' to skip school. At 18 I got the sickest I have ever been, I was in bed for 3 days, and I believe that my symptoms started that summer with the nosebleeds kicking it all off first.

I am currently waiting on testing right now because my doctor believes I have the Vista. Well by was the first one to bring it up because I didn't entirely too much Google research... But initially I in no way thought I had anything like the best... I thought I was having an allergy to some kind of bacteria or turgeon excetera because my skin was going insane every winter over the past three years but more this one than any other. It was just stressed last winter but this time it started affecting my scalp and got to the point to where I don't even feel comfortable leaving the house because it's so incredibly embarrassing. Also I am so tired of the time that getting ready it is seem like a five mile marathon. It's so incredibly frustrating! It's also proposed that a lot of what can help to eliminate the things that are irritants in my room re-read since to me such as UV lights lol it was really the link between sensitivity to light a UV light 6 cetera and pain in your eyes that was the first to link for me. All of the stores rashes acne bug bites excetera I was looking at up just run out me since the day I kept coming back to psoriasis or eczema and I started to think over here I will obviously big things are going on internally and it is coming out of me and showing up all over my face and now in my hair... Yes it is the winter but I used to love the winter what is happening... therefore I started with what diseases cause can the end hair issues and went from there left probably read that over 3,000 articles in the past 2 months LOL but not lol... It's probably watched over 30 videos no I'm just lupus but they are all overly technical most likely for nursing students to study from or just for some student to want their big words excetera and they come away understanding maybe two new fax but not with what I wanted to I guess not. Or videos telling me the list of celebrities that have it how they deal with it when they found out they had it excetera excetera. You brought up maybe one or two and your video and it is inspiring to know that these beautiful energetic women usually have Lupus especially in dealing with the skin and hair issues that I am... But an entire video dedicated to basically you which celebrity has what is really not helping me understand what type of why and if I have it then what... this just the rest of my life that free winter and extreme fatigue and pain, extreme sensitivity to light and UV light in artificial heat brain 4-0 motivation are concentration memory loss swollen hands depression infections and more sicknesses then often and 326 more months in the house because I don't know what's going on with me and do not in any way one to risk going out getting food and bringing it home around my parents that 68 nd 70 with pre-existing conditions. My mother is epileptic has high blood pressure and my father had throat cancer yet they are both extremely healthy active and social they definitely have a more active life then I do like specially in the past 3 years. But the point I wanted to make is that they're all of the videos I have watched of this one definitely giving the best takeaway adults with the night now feel that I know more what to expecting that there is hope... It can't get any worse than it is right now... I'm already used to real feel about that at this exact moment but do do in our way of things you spend more times than the average so-called healthy person in the hospital. So and autoimmune disease just. Housing person makes sense and being is the this this aware a check mark symptom list check for every single one except for New Jersey yet I am on an anti-seizure medication that doubles as an anti-anxiety medication which is what I take it for. My mother is Left Electric and started having seizures around the age of 25 and I have been taking the medication since I was 27 I could have avoided that not fun part. T really is the battle though... Right now the battle is my skin and my hair but getting up getting in the shower and dealing with I'll have it feels like a 5 mile marathon... My bones hurt but bye-bye contributed that to the way I sat in my bed and I still do but they are very tender as well. I have always had swollen glands and bladder infections in a few kidney infections... They have actually subsided in recent years whereas everything else has increased. I kept skipping over lupus because they kept showing that one rash straight across the face that. Nothing else but that is not The Tell-Tale sign I have also seen you in the brown spots on the bottom of your feet and bull's-eye rashes on your back being held how signs Etc I don't know I just believe what people who have it or diagnose it and work with it Tuesday. And I am I under President positive yet but it does make complete sense and have an answer about why I am so incredibly tired and can't sleep for two-and-a-half days literally without a break for water was to go to the bathroom who would be a relief of a guy yes it would be very scary though. Having to switch up my diet and deal with even more medications would definitely suck but right now I'm to the point that I'm not even leaving the house to Jared Barris minute because of the issues I am having with all of the buildup in my scalp that I have never experienced ever before and just like I had never experienced the skin issues I was having fryer which both could be because of an allergy only happens in the cold ones... But all of these other names because I absolutely hate my doctor and was afraid but a specialist would not take my insurance such as a dermatologist rumtalogist nd now know that that is not necessarily true. It may be true form certain procedures especially thermal to logical.... Yet prescriptions and appointments, know which definitely comes me down a lot. What really had me of Whitt in the doctors with the fact that my doctor and many other Dr just want to take me to the fire but I had to as the tell all of any n everythinh extremely hard rating. Obviously she could not tell me that that is why I am having all of this scout build up and the issues with my skin all though she could say that I am so depressed and I am not practicing proper hygiene or something who the hell knows... He told me when I came to her when I could not gain weight and have lost a bunch of weight that I am perfectly on the BMI chart although it was not normal for me and I know what's normal for me! Nd about my eyes n migranes due to them that you believe this has more to do with my anxiety it is stress excetera I need to learn to breathe correctly... The correct term is inhale and exhale properly from my diaphragm and I believe she was referring to meditation speaking to me like I was an idiot... LOL but I guess when you have a mental illness make a call but learning disability I don't know. I could be because she has such a Russian accent and just sounds incredibly rude but she has refused to order test for me so I just stopped trying... I did find a new doctor though so that is awesome and the dermatologist that takes my insurance company and I would ask me I will have to see what happens I'm here now but I have got my blood tested I guess from what you said I will most likely have to get some more testing to make sure it is live is which is what I kind of assumed because I heard it was hard to diagnose. I'm not banking on it being this for anything I just want to know already what it is. It would be great if it was just some kind of allergy and maybe a deficiency to a vitamin... But 2 literally have every single symptom except for seizures and to have had some of them as far back as 6 years ago it was very scary to me. But intensely only about 2.5 years ago. Also letters around the time the my environment changed and Other than the environmental components it'll just clicks. And this video all made it click and therefore thank you for being intelligent but not too over-the-top and inspirational but Honest about a world I could potentially have in front of me. I will fight this video or a different one and let you know. You may have questions and I would like to ask someone with it instead of a doctor who knows. But again great video thank you merry Christmas and happy happy happy New Year every day end of 2020! I hope you are safe tonight in numerous ways. LOL 🎉🎄💜

You can contact him and get a permanent cure to your genital and oral Herpes,HIV Aids, Lungs cancer,HPV,Lupus,Cold sore, Blood Cancer,Diabetics,Herpes virus E.T.C...

Thank you so much for your comment I have not been diagnosed either but I am just looking for answers because for about a little over a year now I have had muscle soreness, fatigue, chest pain , occasionally dizziness, constant headaches, and lately I have experience mouth dryness 🤦🏾‍♀️. I have been so scared to talk to anyone because the couple people I have told made me feel like I’m ok, like it isn’t that serve but it is though. I’m alway in pain I hate it so much and praying to God I be ok. Keep seeking help I believe we will find the help we need for whatever is going on 🙏🏾

I'm convinced that I could have this, but I'm so aftaid I'll be phobbed off. I have alot of the destinict symptoms, I have the butter fly rash, I continiously have protein in my urine, when I've been in hospital for other things like a broken hand o was asked if I had lupus I said no, they said I should get my GP to refer for testing but when I go oh it's always some virus or no explanation.

You know what I hate? When Drs. & others downplay the effects of this disease! I tell them walk in my shoes then we will talk! Really angers me. I was suicidal as I was so sick but took 10 years to be diagnosed! They kept saying it was fibromyalgia! Despite horrendous symptoms. Incompetent Drs. Flare from hell got me diagnosed after a month in it!

It always tricky with work especially if you have a stressful job. I worked in a school as a teaching assistant during my hardest years of Lupus. My advise would be to explain as much about Lupus to your work as possible. I took leaflets in and chatted with everyone so they knew how difficult it was for me. That way, when you take days off for illness people understand a little more.

I am delivering a sermon to you 🙏😊 please read Consistently Pray for forgiveness, guidance in a good (positive) direction, and for help against evil. Pray to be saved from hell (whatever that may be). Pray for your friends and your family too, it only takes a minute or so/less at a time to pray. Do it and your life will slowly get better, or maybe quickly. It probably just depends on you and the kind of person you are/have been. Don't wait until its too late and you have to suffer the consequences of built up bad karma from immoral acts/unrepented sins. Maybe together we can help make the world a better place by changing ourselves for the better, and changing things around us for the better. And addressing/thanking the CREATOR, LORD GOD at the beginning and end of your prayers would be a good idea 😊 Or just be my friend if you don't want to say the prayer 😄 I'm trying to help you get right with the LORD 🙏 Amen. I have worded a short prayer for you to say if you are not sure what words to use, it may not be the best but here it is 😊 '' CREATOR, LORD GOD, Please forgive me and my friends and my family for our immoral acts, please help guide us in a positive direction and please help us against evil. Please save us from Hell and have mercy on our souls. Thank you CREATOR, LORD GOD. Amen. '' Please say this at least once a day for at least a month, do it longer if you want to and can 🙏 You should prostrate yourself if you don't want to do spoken prayer, or do both 🙏😊 Please worship the LORD GOD and not any idol. Please put your hands together 🙏 bow your head and say this prayer: "CREATOR, LORD GOD, please know that I worship you and not any idols. Thank you for everything CREATOR, LORD GOD. Amen" Say ' Om Namah Shivaya ' out loud or in your head 108 times, or try to do it 1008 times 🙏😊 try to do it everyday if you want repeat this aloud for as long as you want to, try to do it for like an hour a day or say it in a prayer "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner" You can also say this prayer once a day or repeat it aloud as many times as you would like to: "Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen." Thessalonians 5:16-18 "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." "O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You!" Repeat this aloud at least 3 times or as many as you want, do it everyday if you can I apologize for all the words 😊 I know how it may look
