Tip: If you elevate the front foot, you automatically lean forward when you do a backwards lunge, thus making the exercise much more naturally biased for glutes.

I've had to do forward lunges at a slight diagonal. Feels better on the knees. TKE banded lunges are helpful for knee pain too.

1st person I seen online actually loading the hip. The rest tilt their torso forward which out knowing why that is and their knee goes forward.

If it can go there, then it should be trained there and everywhere in between. Your mind maps your bodies movement in space. If you don’t expose it to range of motion it can achieve, then when an unexpected thing happens which requires you to be strong in that range, you’ll be inexperienced and at a higher risk of injury. Knees not going over toes is outdated and untrue. The knee flexes some 140 degrees. To only train it to 90 is neglecting 50 degrees of motion.

Look, I'm not gonna tell this man whose quads have quads that he's doing it wrong bc obviously he's not. All I'm saying is my physical therapists told me and hypermobile jello joints not to extend my knee past my toes on lunges, squats etc. Feel free to ignore me, as I look nothing like this God, but if you have joint problems, just consider it. Just sayin. Maybe do a little less at the end ya know. Just a smidge.

@@chilldoc9638depends on ones knees, my right knee can hurt with full range bodyweight squat, but going to parralel with highbar can do 70kg without problem, with lowbar even more, but 1 mistake and game over for mah joints xD
