This song is from the movie of the same name, starring the late, great Sidney Poitier, the first black man to win an Oscar. It’s a poignant story of a new teacher who is tasked with taming a classroom full of very tough, angry British teens in the 1960’s. They learn to respect him and love him. Lulu was in the movie and sings this at the end to thank him for sticking with them and helping them in countless ways. It’s a fantastic movie and you should try to see it. Nice choice and great reaction. 🌺✌️

First of all, 'To Sir With Love' is a classic film and one of my all-time favourites. Secondly, I had the pleasure of meeting Lulu backstage at Glastonbury Festival a few years back. (I worked as a stage manager on another stage but went to help out on one of the larger stages she was performing on.) I 'melted' when she was walking up on stage, turned around, looked at me and winked.

You know a gal can sing when she's chosen to voice a Bond movie theme song, and that's exactly what Lulu did on, *"The Man With The Golden Gun"* circa 1974. Lulu's voice definitely "breaks out" in the song, which I rank 2nd among all Bond theme songs, behind only Shirley Bassey's iconic, "Goldfinger". If you react to Lulu's Bond song, I suggest this link of the End Credits, as it begins with an absolutely gorgeous instrumental before Lulu comes in: *"The Man With The Golden Gun"* End Credits song: kzread.info/dash/bejne/rJ6Hsaascri-h5s.html

Great Lulu song as is 'The Man Who Sold The Earth'. There was Lulu, Dusty Springfield and Cilla Black all 60s icons. Cilla worked at Liverpool' 's Cavern Club where the Beatles started out. They invited her on stage to sing and her career soared. She became great friends with The Beatles and became a household name as a singer and TV presenter. Check out 'I've Been Wrong Before', an incredible song which Dusty also recorded.

Lulu began her career in the UK before becoming internationally known. She had a big hit with the song "To Sir With Love" from the 1967 film, which she also starred in with Sidney Poitier. She also did the title song to the 1974 James Bond film "The Man With The Golden Gun". She also did the songs "Boom Bang-a-Bang", "Shout", "Leave A Little Love", "Try To Understand", "The Boat That I Row", "Oh Me Oh My (I'm A Fool For You Baby)", "I Could Never Miss You (More Than I Do)" etc. Lulu was married at one time to Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees.

If you want another female artist, Kate Bush is a phenomenal talent. There has never been an artist like her. She was discovered by David Gilmour of Pink Floyd when she was still at high school and he organised for her to be able to master some demos that got her a deal with EMI, but the record company supported her to develop a few more years before she started recording in earnest with them. Her first album came out in early 1978 when she was 19, with some songs she’d written as a 15 or 16 year old. But it was incredible and almost like the work of a 30+ year old seasoned artist. She went from strength to strength, often taking years to painstakingly put albums together. She’s like a female version of David Bowie, as the best comparison I could give, but that doesn’t do her justice. Some of her songs are more eccentric than others. Wuthering Heights was her first single and it’s sort of a signature tune for her. If you hit that first it’s worth noting that it comes from a book about a girl who haunts an old lover, a spirit lost on the moors of an old manor house in England, and Kate is extremely theatrical in her performances so she tries to capture the essence of a ghostly voice. Not all her songs are like that, but she does approach vocals with creativity, like in Violin, Rubber Band Girl, and How To Be Invisible, just to name a few. She also brought forward the technology of headset microphones. They had been invented, but not really used in a serious way. Her first concert tour (technically her only tour, after that she only performed isolated shows or one run of shows at the same venue decades later) she turned into a theatrical extravaganza, with costume changes and choreography and dance, where she needed to be able to sing and dance at the same time, so she worked to bring the radio headset mic into serious reality so she could free both hands and move all over the stage doing a full movement performance. She’s nothing short of phenomenal.

Great British singer (a bit like Dusty Springfield). Lulu was in the movie (To Sir With Love - 1967) and sang the title song. What a melody. "Sir" is referring to British term for teacher. So, this is a song to give him credit. The teacher in this British movie was Sidney Poitier, the great actor. For suggestion, you have not hit Cilla Black yet....check this out.....kzread.info/dash/bejne/maCkq8mnna7YisY.html The song is a Burt Bacharach song "Alfie" and Cilla does a great job! Her voice, this song and the movie!! She was married to Beatle George Harrison. The British Invasion gave us Baby Boomers so uch great music and artists in the 60's.

Lulu & George weren't married. Lulu was married to Maurice Gibb, 1969-1973. George was married to Pattie Boyd, 1966-1977 & Olivia Arias, 1978-till his death.

Great song but this seems to be the only one that people know. She did an excellent duet with Bobby Womack called "I'm Back For More" and a fabulous cover of David Bowie's "The Man Who Sold The World".

Dude, you MUST watch the movie (of the same name) "TO SIR, WITH LOVE". If you want to understand what this song is about, you have to watch the movie! Watch the movie! It's only an hour and a half. Watch the movie. It's beautiful. It's dated. It's a little unreal compared to today, but it's about the 1960's and it's a great insight to what this song means.

You must watch the movie with Sidney Poitier to understand the true meaning of this song. Lulu was also in the movie.

You should do the real version from the movie video clip. It's the theme song from the movie. With the mind benders band.✌️❤️
