I mean so far in the ufc, no one’s had even close to an answer to what he does, including volk. Herbert rocked him, and that’s about the ONLY time in the ufc he’s been remotely in trouble or behind and he ended up knocking him dead. And that was one kick, one second of zigging when he should’ve zagged. He’s beaten just about every style already… a bjj/ leg lock wizard, good wrestler, heavy handed fighters, all around great, long n lanky, short and powerful. And he’s not just barely scraping by in these fights… he’s dominating all of them. He’s a high level grappler who has high high level hands and very good defense. I’m not sure that we have seen a fighter like him… if we had, there’d be more available outlets to beating him. How would you say someone can beat him? I know they can and will eventually, but how would they do it? He outwrestles wrestlers, out grappled high level black belts, and beats up everyone on the feet. What do you attack ?

Honestly, Ilia was knocked out in that Herbert fight, and if it wasn't Herbert's debut, I think he would have finished him. Instead, Herbert got too excited and missed the opportunity. Ilia looks more human after the Max fight at UFC 300. I can easily see Max winning the standup since Justin is probably the harder puncher of the three, and Max has never been knocked out. I'm only responding, not because I hate Ilia, but because this narrative that he is some superhuman is enabling him to duck fighters when he hasn't even defended the belt once. edit: he might just be talking crap to be the "MMA bad guy" which is fair play but he needs to fight soon as Max is looking like the more dominant fighter with a better resume.

What DC did is very unprofessional. There’s people competing and you’re not one of them.

Paul Felder is an example of an apologist analyst. Just about any time he even mildly criticizes a fighter during a broadcast, he almost immediately backtracks and soft pedals it to the extreme. It's pretty clear he really wants to avoid beefs with active fighters, for better or worse. No issue with DC standing his ground against Buckley, but can sort of understand the fighter's frustration... the whole MMA space including the broadcast team had already panned him for the callout, yet DC still spent the first 15 minutes of his Monday show with Chael just digging in on the callout. That was what set Buckley off.

They booked it before Aspinall was champion because nobody else deserved a title shot either. That's different now and Aspinall will get the next shot after, but that fight is happening when Jon is ready

Those situations aren't analogous at all, GSP was 26 when he lost to Serra. Literally nobody has ever won a FW title fight at Volk's current age, let alone after a devastating KO. I do think that Volk deserves a rematch if he wants one but he should be a big underdog if it happens.
