I’m a hardcore Islam fan, but I have a deep respect for Dustin Poirier. He’s a true warrior and a beautiful soul. Please, don't fight again-you’ve already achieved everything. God has blessed you with prestige, a championship belt, money, and a wonderful family. You gave it your all in your last fight, so let’s hang it up on a high note, champ. Remember, Islam will eventually have to do the same, and the next champion after him will too. It’s the cycle of the sport.

Yep If dustin doesn't want to start talking like stipe miocic and nate diaz he better retire soon. The only fights that would be good for him would be a rematch against oliviera for his legacy or fighting volkanovski too could be great for his legacy if he beats him that means he would have had wins over two of the greatest 145er in history (max, volk), than he should retire after that. But anyway just retire dude for your health, you didn't win the undisputed belt but you beat a long list of former world champions. , be proud of that at least. Look at it this way, what would you had preferred? Wining the undisputed belt but in your career you couldn't beat any legends or hall of famers or former champion in your life and lost every time like Micheal bisping.......? Or your legacy where you may have never won the undisputed belt but had killed so many legends and hall of famers in their prime in your long journey? With victories over (geathje, conor twice, eddie twice, max holloway) your were the undisputed king of violence and wars........what more do you want? Retire with grace or stay to long and get run over by the fight game like so many fighters that came before u not capable of learning from the mistakes of the fighters of the past......

Plus even tho poirier performed very well in this fight and his last fight as well, I re matched some of his previous fights to see if his speed and reaction timing has declined and buddy it did, he clearly is declining in speed. I re watched his fight with (eddie, geathje, max, khabib) and compared his speed and reaction in his last two fights, poirier definitely slowed down, he was faster 5 years ago. He can compensate his decline in speed with his experience to a certain extent but there is limite to that too... Also it's a lil off topic but I wonder how much 302 did in ppv numbers,a journalist should ask him next time, since the ufc doesn't release the ppv numbers anymore.

Poirier and Gaethje are incredible. The improvements Gaethje made, to destroy Tony, beat Fiziev and KO Poirier, after originally being collapsed by Poirier and Alvarez were insane. As was Poirier's improvement in the grappling department post Khabib and Gamrot training. To defend 11/16 takedowns from Islam is crazy, especially how after so many of us wondered how he'd do given the Khabib fight.
