Pavarotti was already sick at that time. He sang until he dies. He was one of the great voice of that generation and loves to sing duos with pop or jazz singer. I heard he was very kind and patient. This version of this song he likes a lot is a great rendition, not long before he lose his voice and finally dies. He will remain in our hearts. Thank you Amicy for this raw comment ❤️.

Pavarotti sung this while dying from pancreatic cancer. He was an absolute LEGEND as was James Brown. 2 fantastically powerful voices despite being passed their prime age wise. Crazy they're this good.

That was one of the best concerts EVER. Sad that neither of them are with us anymore.

Pavarotti was sitting because he was suffering horrendous back pain, his father and mentor Fernando Pavarotti also passed away 2 days before this performance. He lost his mother father and only son in the space of 12 months

So bittersweet, both men towards the end of their careers. Pavarotti, no longer able to stand during his solo but still belting it out. Two giants in their fields!

He was unable to stand due to back problems not because he was near to death, his death didn't occur until 5 years after this performance

This is a benefit concert. It is something Pavarotti always wanted to do, to sing popular songs with popular stars. After retiring from the opera stage, he organized this concert series to aid Afghan children living in refugee camps in Pakistan. He raised 2 million dollars for the UN Refugee Fund. He shares the stage graciously because this was not his concert it was Pavarotti's. These concerts were an annual occurrence known as Pavarotti and friends and they all happened in his home city of Modena. All proceeds went to refugees and to date no other performer has raised more for charity through benefit concerts and volunteer work than Luciano Pavarotti
