Loyalsock Trail Thru Hike - 4 Days of Adventure

Ойын-сауық

The Loyalsock trail is a 60 mile end to end trail. Typically hikers end in Worlds End State Park. Join us on a 4 day trip through rain, an ultra marathon, and a heat wave as we explore a trail that's been recommended to me for years!
Parking Lot: 41.36146475785427, -76.87708649390585
Day 1 10.8 miles (camp near stream)
Day 2 17 miles (camp near waterfall) (road walking 4-5 miles)
Day 3 17.2 miles (camp near state park office) (snack shop is open from 11 to 5, prices are high)
Day 4 14 miles (end at 41.447889555277676, -76.45372988492433)

Every time I watch you filter water I worry that you are applying a little too much pressure when you squeeze. It bothered me enough to go to Sawyers website , where I read that they do warn that too much pressure can damage or diminish the filtering capability. Obviously you've lived till this point but I wanted to say something anyway. Much respect for what you've accomplished and many thanks for putting it in such a watchable format.

That looked like a scarlet tanager on that branch. Very cool. Never seen one in the wild. Thanks for preaching on leashes. I met a mom with an autistic child who was terrified of dogs on trail. The kid panicked from 30 feet away when he saw my dogs. We were able to back up off the trail and let them pass. Can't imagine what would have happened if my goofy dog went up to him. Poor kid, glad we were leashed up.

Wowwie wow the editing and visuals add ons, love it!! I hear ya there’s a trail I run that’s a “dog” trail and there’s always that one dog that comes at me and the owner is like “oh he/she won’t harm you!” Bad dog parents!

Dogs hike on leashes, Yes! My son nearly cracked his head open on a rock once when he was three. A big boxer pup knocked him over. It was rather traumatic as my husband had hiked ahead out of hearing range, my son was scared and crying but I couldn't pick him up because I had to hold the dog off of him for ten plus minutes until the owner finally showed up. You never know who you will encounter on the trail! Thanks for evoking other good memories though as we have visited World's End before. I was watching thinking that waterfall looks familiar, and then the fenced overlooks. It 's a really cool park!

Everyone likes to see buddy on trail! That’ll make your day!😁 Some buddies of mine and I were camped at speck pond and up on the slope above speck pond was a barking dog that started barking around 830, after we had had a few cocktails. The three of them went hiking up the trail with headlamps yo see if they could find it but no luck. It was brutal listening to that that night. We woke ip the next morning and hiked the notch and back gor a second night and no dog so hopefully all was well. That’s one thing, besides bears at night, that terrifies me about possibly solo backpacking. You seem like alls good in the world. I prefer you use the hammock! 😃 Its hard for me to wrap my head around you with a tent, i gotta tell ya! Great watch man!

Not something I want to Google per se, but if you know of a good reference I would be interested. Another question, I can't recall if you have answered before. You don't have a pack cover, so what things do you put in that outside mesh that you don't care gets wet? What about things you don't want to get wet, but still want easily accessible?

I have the exact opposite question. Lol or statement. I like that u switched to a tent sometimes because as I've mentioned before I follow you closely and have gained a lot of backpacking and hammock camping knowledge from your insight/videos. One of the main reasons I use a Hammock, besides the pure comfort of course, is I'm literally scared that I won't find flat or adequate ground space each night for my tent. Do you have any suggestions on how to get over that fear, and how do you plan differently when you backpack with a tent compared to your hammock, in terms of miles and camp location planning? Great video btw. This LT is going to be my first thru hike this spring.

  • @FrozensAdventures

I enjoy my time out adventuring much more if I don't plan so much. All of my recent trips have turn out perfect even with little planning. I give myself an extra half day to either get out early or make up for time when I didn't hike as far as I thought. I haven't had any instances where I couldn't find a flat spot to set up in. On the flip side I have a few friends that are afraid of not finding trees the right distance apart. From this video you know my thoughts on those worries. Same applies to a tent. If you can't find a flat spot, I guarantee a mile or so down the trail you'll find something. Hope that helps!
