@@BlackcountryhistoryhunterBCHH ever since I was a kid I would walk the dog and always go right off the path looking for old bottles and stuff. I love industrial archaeology. I was brought up around Cradley and Blackheath area. We lived just off Waterfall Lane which is a fascinating place for old mines, and workings and old houses. If you ever want to wonder around there I would be honoured join you. Free offer and no pressure to accept. Check the old maps though, so much history hidden around there. Peace.

OMG! In the 1950s, stories of a ferocious family called 'The Chopper Gang' made sure us kids would never venture down there. Mrs Gardner had her shop just there at the entrance to Lowtown. That helmet could be an ARP helmet.

My one half of my family moved up country as the cottage industry for weaving ended and slowly made there way up to the Black Country from Somerset. They worked in the mines and made nails. Likewise my dads side came down from Glasgow to work in round oak steel works during WW2. As they were metal workers from ship building. We had outside lav with newspaper on a nail lol and spiders.

my grand parents and great gran parents were from Lowtown and am fascinated by it.. They were the Edwards family and were relocated to the prefabs in holly hall & the brand new Russells hall estate after the slum scrapage in the late 1940s (I think)

I'm not sure your brodie helmet is of museum condition, you can get one in mint condition for less than £100, there were over 7 million issued.
