This happened to me when I was in the streets. Im suprised she even went with you because guys are psychos and pray on homeless women. A guy offered me a hotel room and I refused thinking he was trying to pull some shit but low and behold, he took me to his house to get food for me then rented the room and left me there. He asked if he could stay because the 2 beds but I said I would rather leave. He told me he would give me privacy but talk to me in the morning. He left $40. I didn’t feel safe so I left super early in the morning and left a note telling him thanks. When homeless, it’s hard to get out because you don’t trust if someone is genuinely trying helping or hurt. I’m sure she didn’t go to sleep at all, she was too nervous. The streets end up feeling safer when you are homeless

James 84 she left because she didn’t trust you and thought you might bring harm. She realized she let her guard down. Believe me. It’s constant paranoia. I met girls on the streets who were murdered, raped or stabbed by strangers..... and it’s never just other homeless people. It’s by working class men with families and wives who are undercover psychos.. living 2 double lives. They get away with it by being nice to homeless women or prostitutes

I worked till I was 52, became too sick to work because of a heart condition. Two weeks after my 401 ran out I spent three years on the street fighting for my disability. Finally got it they only paid back pay for to years. I'm now of the streets, it's a sad thing to feel lost and hopeless. My prayers go out to all homeless wish I could help them all.

In Canada we pay so much for everything just because it is so expensive for anything we need. Like food and gasoline, rent and everything even supplies like lumber if a person needed it. Most people live paycheck to paycheck. A person here struggles to put any money aside and it always needs to go somewhere. Like oh shit I need winter tires or new work boots. And gas can go up 30 cents a litre in two weeks. Fuck I can't believe it here. They tax the hell out of us.

Taken into hospital and I managed to escape from people that wanted to put me in care in them days you were never treated right . I'm 59 now and never a day goes by that I know how easy it is to be back there, being diabetic I would never survive now, adds to the fear but I stay positive,I have too. It doesn’t matter if they are homeless, it doesn’t matter if they are addicted to drugs, it’s doesn’t matter if they are alcoholics, it doesn’t matter if they have a mental illness, it doesn’t matter why or how they got homeless, they are people who have feelings and don’t deserve hate. I stop and give what I can almost every time I see them on the corner. I don’t care what they use the money for. Once it’s out of my hands, it’s no longer my business but I make sure to shake their hands and converse with them while at the red light. Even a few words means a lot to someone. I don’t always have money on me but I always roll my window down and say words of encouragement. Little acts of kindness goes a long way.

  • @benvasilinda9729

all time it’s my money and I can give it to whom I want to. I don’t make assumptions on what they use the money for and it’s not my business either. After a long hard day I like a cold beer. I’m sure if I was in the side of the road with people yelling at me, I’d want a drink after that too. Plus I spent a long time in the Army and I learned real quick, when ur starving, u can’t sleep good. So after awhile they will buy food anyways. After all of my tax money that is given to women that stay at home and have multiple kids with multiple fathers and get welfare, food stamps and section 8 housing, why do the homeless deserve less? Better than giving it to woman who lays on her back with her legs spread just so she can collect free money.

Because most people are managing their own living situation like a piece of fragile glass....it could fall to pieces at any time. A person could be living in a shack that's crumbling down around them, but it feels like they live in a mansion cauz at least its theirs, and they aint out on the street. Man. People have GOT to take better care of themselves. Because Self is all we truly have.

Most people only have their own homes, they do not have extra homes. And, let's face it- most people are afraid to take in a stranger into their homes because they don't know what kind of people they are taking in. The person could be on drugs, be a thief or cause them harm. That is just the reality of things, not trying to judge or put all homeless people in the same class. But, one bad apple will ruin it for all. There have been people who took in homeless people to help them get on their feet and the homeless people killed the person that tried to help them. So, I'm sure we can understand that fear. Then, people realize that they themselves have to 'work' in order to have a home (and sometimes they are barely making ends meet), so they cannot take care of another adult. Another thing to look at is a person home may be full already, they have family in the home they are taking care of. Plus, people are going to or should be very careful who they bring around their children. There are just so many factors to look at. It's not that people don't want to help.

I am homeless. I also served 5 years in the Marine Corps. I have a daughter. She was abducted and then kidnapped when the mother left California and moved to New York. I haven't seen them in 11 years. New York says I owe child support for all that time. And there is an interest rate. I can't afford to pay the interest rate. So the debt continues to grow. Any money I put in the bank is taken by the state. My wages are garnished. I work over 60 hours a week, and I still can not afford a home. If I pay rent, I can't eat. So I live in a Semi Truck, where I work. And I'll have to keep driving a truck until I am unable to drive. And by that time, I'll be in more debt even though I am making payments. I might as well burn the money because it's paying the people who forced me into a hardship, to continue to labor with no possibility of retirement. I am not just homeless. I am a slave.

IQ matters, some people just know how to invest, sell, and manage. It’s a complicated world and there is no place for people who can’t hack it. We have to do a better job of offering hots and cot as cheaply as possible. The problem of that solution is people would rather use drugs on the street, then stay in a situation of three hots and cot and no drugs allowed.

There are so many nasty things people are saying here. Not everyone has a healthy mind. The majority of homeless are mentally ill. They can't afford medication and unless you have been even close to mentally sick you have no idea why or how they got where they are. I don't understand why the ones that are so angry about this girl watch the video and why do you feel the need to write something so awful. Why not just move on? I'm thinking several people that are so offended by her have no idea what REAL struggle is. I don't mean just regular life struggles either. I mean the serious shit. People are so fast to just judge. I'm sure I will get some nasty comments but it's fine.

Yes, people can be amazingly ignorant. Everyone can have something happen but many have something happen or something worse without reliable supports. People are becoming more and more isolated and disconnected from community and agencies might not be reliable or known. Notice she was asked to do research for police in exchange for the police taking care of the crime that was committed against her, when she should have been helped as a matter of course and was probably too worn out from it all to do anything. It is amazing the extent to which people judge, judging when many are a step away from it themselves and would not recover without secure supports. Some simply have lost these supports and things happen. On a side note, I heard a high percentage of people by their 40s in the US have had some period of homelessness, the difference perhaps was that they had a way to be helped out and backup resources with trusted friends’ or relatives’ sofas to sleep on.

All it matters is who can push and shove you out of the way to prosper in life. In smallest things you will encounter normal decent people doing little tricks to get ahead of others.People who you otherwise will not regard as crooks but are clever and mean too .Those who cant do it are good hearted people who gets hurt . Beautiful story, almost made me cry. I'm from Mexico and in my country we don't have the programs and resources to help homeless people to get back on their feet. I'm a homeless man myself, I can speak four languages and have a master's degree in business, but no one wants to employ me because I'm 63 years old. Watching this amazing young woman I feel like not giving up. Thanks for this great article.

I am so proud of you you are a very beautiful girl and I speak to my grandchildren and my two young grandchildren who are going on 11 and I speak to them about how we should be so grateful for the food that's put on the table weather Grandma makes makes it good or not I'm not the best cook but it is food it is sustenance I always try to explain to them how there are so many people in this world that suffer from homelessness starvation abuse and grow up in ways that I could never imagine and as I think they think it or they know it they don't really see it so you're an inspiration for me to teach my grandchildren to not be so self-absorbed and think of others and to give to others and to start saving in they're little Banks to give to the homeless and yes there is a stigma with some homeless people where you feel like you give them the money and they're going to just go buy beer or drugs yet when I see them standing on the corner and I'm able to roll my window down and give it to them I give it to them graciously without any expectations and believe me I'm on a very fixed income because I'm in poor health and the poor health was because I abused my body when I was younger yet I had it all which means I had and upper-middle-class family a loving mother and father who were married for 60 years and I had very strict rules and I would run away and that would cause me problems because I felt they were too strict but now looking back on it I knew that my parents were right and for the times that I ran away it was disgusting it was horrible and the things I had to do for a roof over my head and or sleep in the elements was horrible so as I wasn't actually homeless for long periods of time I experienced being on the streets by my own choice and I know how hard it can be so my dear friend I hope you reach all of your dreams because you are a beautiful girl and I see the strength in you and the willpower and I just know that you're going to go places keep kicking it Forward girlfriend and keep us informed on how you're doing

I've been homeless and told nobody, lived in my car or tent while working several times. Used to manage a clearance furniture store in Atlanta. Guy came and bought my cheapest stuff all the time. One day he tells me it's all for a homeless shelter he managed. Floored me. I asked how he got the job. Said he used to be a resident. He then asked me a few questions, I told him I was married and had a son. He said if my wife left me, I might be there in a few weeks. She did. Have some sympathy y'all, it's not always as it seems. And I myself have been childish and currently can be lol. I would personally like to say thank all you of for taking 8 minutes out of your time to watch and listen to me, I had no idea that this would go viral. And hi to everyone that recognized me. Those of you who know me, and have witnessed what I have been through thank you for being there for me when you were. I hope that my story has been able to lift those that are down. I hope that I can inspire you to want a good LIFE and to go get it. I didn't realize that my video was going to be used for donation purposes to the DOWN TOWN STREETS TEAM. And I don't mind I love the down town streets team and want to give back as much as I can! I will contact the people who filmed this and you can look at me now....
