You nailed a key point: One of their strengths is that Midori and Miyako are actually so different in style and tone, which makes their duets all the more powerful. Midori is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako ("the hot one") is the introvert, with the more soulful feel. Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion and pinch harmonics. Miyako writes most of the band's songs, but Midori writes her own solos within that structure. Either one can obviously smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reactor said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band together."

@@TheChampOfMedium They don't just do Power Metal either. They can hold their own in Thrash, Power Ballads, Power Metal...the only limit is their imaginations. They remind established bands how it should be done. Metallica could use some lessons from them, for one. They're a solid unit who are true friends, not just musicians contractually obliged to be on the same stage.

Hey, nice reaction. Although they are known for power metal, Lovebites songs go from Heavy rock, thrash metal, power metal, ballads, with this much talent they play a wide variety of styles. Miyako (black hair guitar) tends to go for a more melodic approach on her soloing i feel while Midori (blond hair guitar) loves to shred and so her solos are usually faster and more aggressive. Just like Band Maid, if you aren't watching them Live you are missing out! Amazing Live band. (just avoid Bloodstock videos, bad audio mix on that show) Try Break The Wall, Hammer of Wrath, Holy War, Swan Song, all Live, from their Five of a Kind show. Stay safe!

I've been fortunate4 enough to be able to land their live DVD "Five of a Kind".. That is one hell of a live gig. I think much of their lilve material here in YT is from that show. A couple from the live shows to check out for future reference would be "Thunder Vengeance" (the show opener), "Raise Some Hell" and for laughs I'd look at this one and "Shadowmaker" for a point of reference. Miyako (the dark haired guitar goddess) is the lady who also dabbles on the keys.. and when I say dabble I really mean virtuoso.

Also I don’t know the timing since I’m crazy excited about bandmaid’s next single being an anime opening, but lovebites will have one of their songs be an anime opening soon as well! Super excited just to see power metal open an anime!

This song was written by Miyako(dark haired guitarist) I believe, with lyrics by Asami(singer). Miho(Bass) also writes some of their stuff. Unusually for a Japanese band, virtually all lyrics are in English. I would suggest trying: Don't Bite The Dust Golden Destination - Saw them live last year and although it's to fast to tell I like to think I appear in their music video outside the venue waiting to get in :) Break The Wall The Crusade Journey To The Otherside - I heard Miho wrote this about her father. The live video brings a tear to the eye.

With Lovebites almost all their songs are in English. The only songs in Japanese are from their first EP. All the songs from their three full length albums are in English. Edit* Miyako the guitarist with the Dean guitar wrote the whole song. I don't know if Midori the other guitar player with the white ESP wrote her solo or not.

Excellent reaction! I don't have any insight, but it would be my guess that Midori and Miyako write their solo parts together as a team. It's the only way they could pull off what they do. Miyako (the dark haired one) was classically trained as a pianist from a very early age (as you'll no doubt discover in subsequent reactions). She has a very unique shredding style that always intrigues me. She approaches the fretboard at an angle all the way up the neck, and she tends to favor her middle finger for deep bends. Midori's style is more classic "shredder" as she rotates her hand perpendicular to the neck as she goes up and bends with her ring finger. Not being a pianist myself, I wonder if Miyako's approach comes from her piano technique. Ever have a pretty girl give you a sultry look while performing arpeggio sweeps? LOL

I'd bet it comes from years of piano playing, you build a lot of strength in your wrists and fingers, also the the use of all ten fingers independently playing at the same time. Listen to Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata 3rd movement (kzread.info/dash/bejne/dIprtM1-fJnVgsY.html) as a good example of the dexterity needed for a top level classical pianist and compare that with top guitar playing.

Miyako writes a lot of the songs including the musical score for each. She was trained as a concert pianist from age 3 and didn't pick up the guitar till she was 18 but Mom exposed her to all kinds of metal music growing up and it shows, all members of the band play multiple instruments (that is why they are so insanely talented) this band is the real deal, again LIVE is the way to go !!!!

I’m not sure of this song but I read their interview in Japanese that Miyako (right side with Dean guitar) writes songs and also solos for both with considering Midori(left side)’ s playing style. Musically Miyako has got classical music background since very young and only started playing guitar after 18 years old. So there are some heavy classical music influenced songs, such as Swan Song, Above the Black Sea or Under the Red Sky.

Yeah mate you have to check some songs from their last concert Five of a kind in Zepp Diversity Tokyo from this year like Thunder vengeance, Holly war, Rise some hell, Break the wall, Hammer of wrath even those 2 songs Shadowmaker and Signs of deliverance they perform in the concert. What can I say they sound better live than the studio. The Midori (with the blonde hair she influenced by the swedish guitarist Yngwe Malmsteen and also like Kiko Loureiro the new Megadeth guitarist) she is the aggressive guitarist in the band her solos is more aggressively and speedy on the other side Miyako the second lead guitarist she is influenced by Gary Moore, her solos are more melodic and a bit slow. She can play fast as well, but that combination is unbelievable. Also she is magnificent pianist. You should check also the songs with piano and keyboard like Swan song, Epilogue, Edge of the world, Liar ,Burden of time. Enjoy it and thanks for the reaction.

Great reaction bro! You need to check out some of their live stuff from their latest tour. Check out "Thunder Vengeance" from their Five of a Kind tour in Zepp Diver City Tokyo. It's a super thrashy Metallica-esk kind of song. Also "holy war" from the same concert is a must.

Hello. I've loved metal since I was 10 years old, but that wasn't enough to eat, so I was a Jazz pianist in my 20's. I'm a Jazz pianist in my twenties, and I rarely subscribe to your channel because I'm very annoyed by the pauses in your regular REACTION videos (especially when you make noise during the solo parts lol), but your analysis is even more detailed and brilliant than mine, so I had to subscribe to your channel. I learn a lot from you! (Sorry for the machine translation!

The lyrics are all or almost all written by the vocalist (Asami). About half of their music is written by the brunette guitarist with the Dean guitar (Miyako). Also the Bassist writes some songs (Miho) and also the drummer (Haruna) wrote a few. Midori( the blonde guitarist with the ESP guitar) wrote at least 2 songs ( Dancing with the devil and Glory to the world. They writes their own solos. Also they collaborate with Mao (a legendary keyboardist and composer) for some songs.

While I am not a fan of this band (question of personal taste) I am still very impressed by their skill and talents. This is a phenomenal band by any standards....those two lead guitarists just blow my sock off. Their singer is amazing and the drummer is a drums worst nightmare. However, their music just does not click with my soul (it is an amazing song none the less) ...I still remain impressed and if they did a show locally I would definitely attend it.....

The keys you hear are Midori (the one that plays the Dean guitars; she's featured exclusive artist of theirs; they just sent her a guitar she designed). She is a classically trained pianist as well; to the point where she plays both on the same song, live. She's heavily influenced by Gary Moore and Dimebag Darrell. Miyako (the blonde) is exclusive to ESP. She's heavily influenced by Yngwie Malmsteen (he's HUGE in Japan, along with Marty Friedman). As you can tell with Asami, she's got pipes, but she used to be an R&B singer. But with her voice, she can easily challenge and outpace Bruce Dickinson. Obviously, all of them are influenced by Iron Maiden. However, you're only seeing one side of them. You need to see them live, as they bring in influences of Anthrax and Slayer. React to "Thunder Vengeance" and "Holy War" from their live show Five Of a Kind, at Zepp Diver, Tokyo. After that, you need to react to their song "Hammer of Wrath" from any show that is *NOT* Bloodstock or Grasspop (the sound engineer at those shows needs to get an Acme anvil dropped on their head, the mix is that bad) You will thank us later.

I've noticed a few people saying Miyako and Midori write their own solos, but it is not that simple. It varies from song to song. Early on Miyako did almost all of the music composition, including solos, while Miho (bass) and Asami (vocals) would write the lyrics. A quote from Miyako, "For the songs that I wrote, I make a demo with all the parts arranged and have the other members copy their parts. Then other members may arrange their parts differently, but generally not too far off from the original demo. We have a sixth member of the band called Mao. He composes with us and co-arranges with members or by himself." Midori did most of the songwriting for "Dancing with the Devil" from their newest studio album Electric Pentagram, but other than that most of the guitar music has been written by Miyako, Miho, and Mao. Not trying to take anything away from Midori as she is extremely talented, but this is just what I've learned from reading/hearing various interviews with various members of the band.

Merci encore.

Dude, seriously don't waste your time on MV and just watch them live! They are WAY better live. Just avoid bloodstock 2018 - very bad audio quality on this recording. But anything else is gold. Especially FIve of a kind (Tokyo Diver City 2020), Daughters of the dawn (Tokyo 2019) and latest studio live Awake Again 2020. If you want some recommendations then "Screem for me" is very fun song to listen, and has some sick solo battles :) "Under the red sky" is epic as hell. "Edge of the world" is some insane progressive ballad, "Thunder Vengeance", "Break the wall" and "The Hammer of Wrath" if you want some trash metal on the highest level. For some more calm experience i suggest "Epilogue", "Empty daydream" and "Liar". And for some more crazy ass power metal check out "Golden destination" and "Holly war". But honestly, they don't have a single bad song, everything is just awesome! :)

They are, to me at least, the best band currently. The sheer talent is unbelievable. You have not yet seen their epicness. They are all multi-instrumentalist. Miyako (Dean - right, also a classical pianist) wrote half of their songs, while the other half is done by everyone else. Asami - singer wrote most of the lyrics, though they all have done it. Basically, Shadowmaker, When Destinies Align and Rising are M/V introduction to them. They cool though, but you really have to watch their live performances, Zepp or Five of a Kind and be awed. I recommend Epilogue one of the best ever ballads (Miyako plays acoustic guitar then switches between piano and electric guitar), Swan Song, Edge of the World, Thunder Vengeance (awesome stage opening), Signs of Deliverance (dual guitar overhand tapping on catwalk anyone?) and so on. There isn't a single song from their three albums that is bad, meh or even "its alright". They are darn good. Watched their Live Stream and Miyako playing guitar and keyboards at the same time. That always puts a smile on my usually grumpy cat face :D

Champ, watch their live ones. MV's are tame. Also, DO NOT watch the "BLOODSTOCK" live ones. The audios are god awful and do not do the girls justice. They are very bad clips. Watch any LIVE from their Zepp DiverCity 2020 concert. Oh, and yes, they do write almost all their songs.

Love the way you take the time to break this down. That last two parts of the solo where you think it is going back to the chorus but extends to another solo is a lot of what Ritchie Blackmore would do on something like A Light in the Black. Definitely a double (triple? quadruple?) crescendo. Really effective. This song was music by Miyako, lyrics by Asami, arrangement Lovebites (each arranging their own part) and final arrangement Miyako. Miho contributes a some music and lyrics to songs, too. Mao is their programmer and does some keyboards writing some of the music. Asami can also write music. Just a multi-talented band. Check out Miyako's new axe. It is a Dean V-series Signature Guitar. Showing off her new baby with a demonstration in English. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y2yExrCJp9ypmbQ.html For some fun here is DragonForce with Midori and Miyako and Farming Simulator. kzread.info/dash/bejne/faJ7sryxlrKnnco.html
