I remember this when it first aired with Bubba, way back when. I don't think it's necessary to line the pan with foil or anything else. It makes it very messy to cut, with the chance of getting foil in your portion. Wouldn't use plastic wrap either. I've made this in my largest glass dish, a much prettier presentation.

One of my 1st jobs was at Dairy Queen, it was rare someone actually ordered a banana split, but when they did they were fun to make.

@@charitys.3862 Oh my, that's all I've been doing! Besides keeping up on all the watering, I did another bushel of escarole, and have canned about 24 quarts so far. I am busy!! Lol. Maybe the comment police won't like we are chatting...read that today. Wow, there are so many rude comments, including hers, not to mention all the spam porn, that she picks on us for commenting pleasantly on the day's recipe or our gardens. If we could text or email, without broadcasting private info over the internet, we would do so. Have a great day!

Lol. Gonna bring my own snacks though, not just to save money but that stuff is so unhealthy! Anyways just had to share that unrelated chat, with you!! Haha 😄

I made something similar for my son’s birthday. He’s a foodie and loves ice cream. It was delicious.

That looks like it’s easy to make and YUMMY to eat. And best of all, on the first day of summer there are ZERO calories in it, so make sure to eat it ALL T😳DAY!!

Yeah, gotta agree with Chefy Momma -- Paula, you're a legend. Love your warmth, spirit and zest for life. OH ... and your recipes, too!!!

I got a Cortizone shot in my shoulder a few months ago and it helped tremendously. But then a couple months after that I experienced the worst pain in my neck, upper back and down my entire right arm. I never knew that pain could be that bad and me not pass out. I couldn’t talk to anyone I couldn’t do anything but rithe in pain and the ER couldn’t help me. It turns out it’s a pinched nerve in my neck so I just got an epidural injection a week ago and it helped so so very much. I can have another one whenever I need it (have one done lower because I still have total weakness of tricep muscle- it just doesn’t work) I hope you get your pain taken care of. ❤️

@@lauratohome noooo!!! I went to one 3 times in a week because folks told me it could take a few times- but I got worse- WAY worse by the 3rd visit. He never x-ray me & I think damage happened.

Thanks Paula for this quick and refreshing dessert. I made one like that except it was just the ice cream sandwiches and cool whip. It was delicious!

I use to make one similar to this recipe with the ice cream bars and it is delicious. But I didn't use the foil in the pan. I think I just sprayed the pan. Might be better than risking the foil in your mouth. eEEEEEE. foil on filings is not good.

Amazing! I made it but I used strawberry sandwiches for the bottom layer/vanilla on top and instead of caramel, swapped it out with pineapple topping. Left everything else the same. Yummy!

This type of creative dessert reminds me of when I had sweet tooth munchies and created a dessert using all the sweet type food I had in the kitchen. No matter what I created, it would always turned out absolutely fabulous.

good luck with your shoulder. I’ve had that needle in my shoulder before, oh my goodness it made me cry, stamp my feet, my doctor told me to stop acting like a baby. Lol. This sounds absolutely amazing, next time I’m going grocery shopping since I have to take paratransit, I’m going to get the ingredients to make it this for myself for my birthday in a few weeks, I’ll be 62 years young.

I had to put Bio freeze on my shoulder Hun.

Paula our shoulders are wore out from working so hard..I have the same problem..some days ..some weeks is awful...I won't take anything but tylenol.some days it's hard to be nice.so I stay away from everyone.... Then when the shoulder doesn't bother you ..I take advantage and work and work and work.. and end up the same way. But I sure know how it feels and how u feel.

I’m only 49 and the pain is horrendous from arthritis in my cervical area w pinched nerve... if not for injections, I don’t think I would have a will to live- it was that bad.

I think the foil was to “lift” the entire dessert out of the pan, slide it onto your serving plate, cut and serve.

Unless you're going to lift it out to put on a serving plate, which I don't see the necessity for since it's in a nice glass pan, you don't need to line it with anything. It'll cut just fine from within the pan.
