Good job on building a fantasy revolver I Love. The revolver mechanism and hammer you need to use is that of the Italian Mateba. Though the Mateba is a solid frame semi-auto revolver, it does fire from the 6 O'clock position of the cylinder. The hammer of your model is set-up to fire from the 12 O'clock position.

Vash the $$60,000,000 is what made me fall in love with Anime all over again, it's a long story but it's kinda short... Trigun came out around the same time as Cowboy bebop I want to say (or maybe just when all my friends were getting into Anime) & as all my friends were talking about Spike, Jet, Fay, Edward and Ein.. I was on about Vash, Wildwood, the Gun ho Guns, Nives, Rem, Milly & Meryl, the Nebraska Family, Frank, Kuroneko, Legato Bluesummers, the Floating Ship, Julian & Moore, Elizabeth and Soooooooooooo Much more... I've been dreaming about this moment where I can get my hands on Vash's 45 Long Colt (EF Auto Ejecting, Double Action). Thank you 😭😭

Love the build, perfect copy of the anime gun. One small problem I noticed the anime gun would never fire in real life due to the barrel being on the bottom and the hammer hitting the round at the top of the cylinder. The barrel should actually be on top not the bottom for it to fire. Otherwise a very good copy of the anime gun.

There are guns with the barrel on the bottom. I would say modify the hammer if it wouldn't work as I find the barrel more iconic for the gun. Chiappa rhino seems to be the most common revolver if you Google inverted barrel revolvers.

Ideally the hammer system would have been modded to account for this, but considering he copied from a standard 12-o-clock revolver it's a minor issue. Years ago I believe there was an airsoft mod kit for a Japanese Mateba revolver ( 6-o-clock alignment) that let you wave this thing around, so the 6-o-clock alignment definitely works.

Vash's pistol is modeled after a real steel firearm made by an Italian company called Mateba. The Barrel is lower down, lining up with the bottom chamber of the cylinder, as opposed to the more traditional style of revolvers. The hammer of the Mateba pistol is actually a false hammer, that in reality is the gun's safety. Clever mechanics inside the receiver/body of the gun itself conceal the actual firing mechanism. It's a really cool weapon that you should look in to if you're a real steel guy.

A lot of nice detail work there. However... It does appear that the cylinder's chambers don't line up with the barrel. This would cause some excitement when fired. Also, the hammer seems to fall on the top chamber, which is the one furthest from the barrel. I shoot real ones, and this design just makes me itch. But it is great workmanship - so there is that.

  • @itsagundam79

@Michael Jordan This model is true to the anime in design though. While I understand the point about the hammer striking the top chamber as is, why can't the firing pin be mounted lower on the hammer assembly, (for a real steel version) instead of in front of the thumb pull? This is a far future sci-fi Western show with alien technology incorporated in the pistol, so maybe in the future they've designed a functional hammer of that type?

@@muselessmusician I did not know that about the Mateba's hammer! Cool! Being a GitS fan I've definitely heard of the mateba, and there's an Old West pistol with the break action, think it was a Webeley(sp?) revolver & I think there's another bottom chambered revolver as well. I wanna say a Rhino...?

He's using a gun for reference that fires from the "12 o clock" position instead of the "6 o clock" position!! This could be the issue as to why barrel and cylinder isn't lining up correctly.

So cool! I've got an old CR10 printer, an airbrush kit, and my dad's garage full of miscellaneous tools, and I insist on using my own 3D models that I make in Blender. I've always wondered how people make such cool things especially with moving parts, and this helped me to realize that more than just precise measuring, you need prototyping and patience, two things I lack very much. Most of my projects I refuse to let go longer than a week, and even then most of it is done on a weekend. I've made some cool stuff, but this video is a great way to show off what it takes to take props to the next level. Now I know I really can start producing better quality items with some more patience and effort.
