    I love how later in the clip he says he goes to the artsy theaters. I don’t know one person who hates foreign films that have subtitles and still goes to art house theaters. Opie is such a hack.

    I watched this movie as a kid on cable tv back home in Vienna. I remember feeling sad for the teacher, hoping that I’ll never hurt like her when I grow up.

    It's a masterpiece, from the direction to the performances. Yes it's dark, but it's a perfect study of psychology, and that makes it one of the most interesting and profound movies i've seen. Also Huppert shows the best performance in a movie i've ever seen, she's hypnotic.

    Are the scenes where Erika cutting herself prevalent in the film? I'm asking this bc I was really disturbed when she did that and if those scenes arent that prevalent then I can skip that part and get the film continued

    Yeah but he's talking to a bunch of douche bags. He's not likely to address the scene where she is sniffing the tissue as a painful study of one woman's pathological inability to connect emotionally to her environment. It's not the right crowd. And as the scandal that's currently enveloping C.K suggests he has his own psycho-social problems. He probably did connect with the film on some level.

    No man, he is just playing the role of "the stupid american who doesn't understand art, psychology, and philosophy." His purpose is to dumb down the film so that the average american at least might be interested in watching the film later. Judging from the kind of stand-up he does, he understands that the film is a deep investigation of human sexuality, but he cannot go on there and talk about Lacan, if he wants any americans to watch the movie :D
