    @@russelyoung7104 Just remember, if you've been riding a motorcycle that has ABS, you're going to have to practice panic braking a lot. A lady swerved into my lane and I briefly locked up the front so I "dirt biked" my foot hard down onto the pavement in response, which hurt like hell and almost broke it. It was my fault for not being mentally prepared for a panic situation and also riding my SV in the dumb lady's blind spot. She never even turned her head.

    Well i think i did figure it out, even if i'm late to the party haha. On the SV 1000 the speed is mesured at the spocket, so if it's indicating a wrong speed it's probably because you changed the gearing ratio :p

    A stock one might not be able to but I have no doubt that a well built non-naturally aspirated sv1000 with a really close gear ratio could hit 180 easy. If people can build turbo busas that hit 300mph a well built sv1k hitting 180 should be a walk in the park lol.

I know my SV650s said it was going over 220 kph (136mph) on the speedo but on my Garmin GPS it was 198kph and the road and sides of the road were flying by much faster than your video (not to mention speed listed when driving behind traffic was more accurate for highway speeds of rigs and cars in kph).... so if I were to guess, either your speedo was set to KPH instead of MPH or it is insanely inaccurate.... and last I heard the SV1000's gearing and aerodynamics limits the 1k top speed to closer to 160mph or about 257kph

    The bigger rear sprocket just trades top end speed for acceleration. It's rare to max out a bike like this so why not have extra acceleration?

  • @Ebrakes

    @Ebrakes

    7 жыл бұрын

    internot not sure if that was a direct reply to my previous comment, but either way i would partially agree with you, having a closer ratio (smaller rear) allows more top speed which yes is not something you'd constantly be doing, but it also lowers your rpms for regular highway cruising...therefore better mph and easier on the engine for longer engine life at faster cruising speeds. but then on the other hand have shoulder tearing acceleration is extremely fun and absolutely has its place for wide sprocket ratios...so all in all everything has a purpose is what I'm getting at here!

    Wade Sanford couldn't say, I was just cruising around on the bike. I don't actually own it though sorry. It's still hasn't sold from Paulsons Kawasaki in lacey, WA if you're local and want to check it out.

    Just wondering what was done. I'm looking to do the same and I know that with the straight pipe scenario, it would probably run like shit without ECU flash or power Commander. Just trying to get a game plan.

    Wade Sanford full disclosure I know a hell of a lot more about dirt bikes than street, but a lot of knowledge still applies to street bikes and engines in general and with the fuel injected bikes I know you can change quite a bit of air flow properties without necessarily having it run crappy like it would on a bike with carbs. Of course having a fuel map that's meant for the air flow set up you have will make it run top notch. It's all about how much money you have to throw at it basically. next time I'm working there I'll see if I can find out more info on it for ya.

    Ray yeah haha, since this video they changed the price to 4888 and put some viper mufflers on it. are you talking about that price or back when they had listed for like 6?

    Yeah, I saw the price last year and talked to one of their sales guys that thought they should have never took it in on a trade because with the exhaust. That was within $1200 of what I paid for mine new back in 06'.

    Ray yeah, the bike is in great condition for sure, but not 6k good haha. Yeah, it was really loud with those pipes, they were looking to put real mufflers on it for quite awhile. I thought about getting it for awhile but ended up choosing a sv650 for the gas mileage.

    Not even with a supercharger kit,stop lying on your balls,heck not even the tlr1000 could do 180,you would have to go full blown,boring bigger pistons, turbo and so many other things $$$$$$$$$ to get that motor to hit 180,might as well get a gsxr 1000,stock they'll do over 180.

    I dont mean to argue, but sv1000's top speed is around 160mph, so the lie is not that obvious, with some mods it might be possible to reach 180, that's what got me curious about watching your video, then get deceived... Regardless, sv are awesome, and even if personally i think you should have sticked with the 1k instead of 650, cheers from an sv rider to another
