It was Frank Sinatra himself who said "Lou Rawls has the smoothest voice in the business." Thanks to my parents and relatives, Lou's music was part of the sound track of our family picnics, beach parties and other events. Thank goodness for Lou and his Philly based producers, Gamble and Huff! A bygone era for sure!

I saw in at thy #boutwellauditorium in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1974 or 75 with my parents. I was 4 or 5. I was surprised that daddy wanted to see him because he preferred traditional jazz. But, Lou managed to meld #RandB with jazz. Perhaps he was the first to do it highly successfully. That night was electric. He and his band sounded great, the sound system was 10 star, beautiful women danced in beautiful clothes, and I was enchanted. I'm 54, but I'm still right there, every day.

This dude was loved by EVERYONE.

His voice.... wow

Lou Rawls during his time with Gamble and Huff had great producers and arrangers for his music such as the Greats Jack Faith (who arranged this one), Dexter Wansel, Thom Bell, Bobby Martin, etc. They put the magic into the music you hear from the Great Lou Rawls and so many others.
