I’m on the waiting list for the next batch of white dial. Beautiful watch, perfect size, great look. Only concern is the Chinese made movement, but good luck finding a manual wind, relatively thin, mechanical chronograph for $500 with a Swiss or Japanese movement.

Plexiglass crystal is actually more expensive for them bc it's not standard and harder to make water resistant. They do it on purpose for the better optical quality, vintage vibe, and distortion. Easy to polish in a few minutes at home once or twice a year.
@ilmostro164 жыл бұрын
You won’t get a domed and boxed sapphire at this price point on a mechanical watch. And if they used a cheaper flat sapphire, the watch would lose a lot of vintage charm which is the whole point here. So they’d probably have to charge more to get a boxed sapphire and it wouldn’t look exactly the same anyway since plexi has a different affect on light and distortions than sapphire.

I really like the look of their watches. I know they’re going for a certain look and found it with plexi but at that price I’d expect Safire.
@Emaratilfy

That's fine but the glass isn't proportional with quality. You can get new Omegas with plexiglass. It's easy to maintain and it doesn't shatter in thousand pieces - unlike sapphire.
@ilmostro16
4 жыл бұрын
The price isn’t the issue. Like Emaratilfy just said, a new $4000 Omega Speedmaster moon watch comes with a plexi because that’s the vintage design and style. But that being said, you might only get a flat sapphire crystal at this price point. You will not get a mechanical watch with a very domed and boxed sapphire (its not just domed but also has raised curved edges) as that is a more expensive piece of glass. If they used a flat or only very slightly domed sapphire, you’d lose a lot of the charm of this piece. For example, the Christopher Ward Trident watches have a boxed sapphire crystal (not very domed though) and they cost north of $800. Yes they have ETA movement, but non chronograph at that price either.
@Random14599

Yup I have a hesalite moon watch. The domed sapphire just ruins the vintage appeal. It has a milky ring around the dome and it's kind of body. Domed acrylic is superior on any vintage reissue pieces. The price isn't going to matter unless your buying like a seiko. Where i would choose pieces with sapphire instead of hardlex.

@MegaBlackley4 жыл бұрын
It's pretty attractive, but my biggest issue is that I don't really care for chronographs. I used to; back when I didn't know much about watches a chronograph kind of seemed like a swiss army knife of watches (I mean, look at all those dials, they have to do something I thought), but as I've learned more I don't really care about the features of a chrono to, say, a watch with ABC features. I like watches on a steel band to have clean, unobstructed faces with perhaps a date window being the only thing marring it up. As far as chronos go this is a beauty though.
