But he wasn’t Assyrian though. He was Hebrew. Serious question, but aren’t the dialects different?

@@IntoTheNothing1The existence of something called the "Hebrew language" is very doubtful. The Jews had their religion, but they did not have a language, their own language, so they took a dialect of Aramaic that they spoke and they added, changed, inserted, removed... and with history The Jews are now able to speak a language that they claim is theirs. I don't have a hatred to them, but I make it clear that Hebrew may be, to a large extent, a dialect of Aramaic, and it changed with history to become a language in itself.

@@user-rr8jh3ln6gYes, as an Assyrian I came across once said "There is no Assyrian-Aramaic,only Assyrian". But if you do the research, you'll find that after the Babylonian exile, Abraham's parents migrated to Chaldee in Assyria, (Chaldea also known as Babylonia)and as people did/do,they "adopted then adapted" the language of the Ashurai,as well as the culture, the religious ideals, etc etc. The Jews,Hebrews,Israelites, etc did this repeatedly when in exile in other countries, over the centuries. Do you speak Ktav Ashuri as it's a long dead language? As I have a "mentor" - a native born Aramaic speaking translator from Bet Nahrein (Mesopotamia) who speaks the modern vernacular but coming across the original hidden and preserved manuscripts in a bible format,of the original church of the East, he bought from a high priest of that church... He found a way to revive that old dead language - Ktav Ashuri - in order to translate that ancient (very old) language - the Lshana Ateeqa,Suppraya in the closest English equivalent, while staying as close as he could to what those old manuscripts actually say, without the common translator's need to be bias, prejudice, twist it add their own flavor etc... Do you speak Ktav Ashuri as it's a long dead language? The Aramaic in the video may be Syriac....a modern derivative...The NT Aramaic that translator Vic Alexander uses MIGHT be a Chaldean - Aramaic dialect.

For the past couple of years as I read the weekly Torah portion I also follow the custom of reading it in Onkolos' Aramaic translation. This custom developed when Aramaic was the common language and Hebrew was becoming forgotten, but for me I'm becoming familiar with Aramaic from the English translation and the Hebrew. I've been told that Onkolos' translation is a different dialect from the Aramaic of the Talmud. The Aramaic here is probably also a different dialect from that of Onkolos; though I could recognize half the words they were pronounced slightly differently than the nekudim (supplementary dots and other vowel marks) in my Torah translation.
