Bernard Hill, who played King Theoden recently passed away. He gave such life to the character and his ride out of the gates of Helm's Deep is one of the best moments of the trilogy.

This is probably my favourite trilogy of films, ever. I grew up reading Tolkien’s books and they are rooted in European folklore. So glad you guys are watching this. You are going to love the third film.

The actor who played Aragorn had the idea to have Brego, the horse, kneel down to save him. He worked for months training the horse to do that scene of kneeling and allowing him to climb up.

I’m not sure if anyone else mentioned or maybe you already noticed, but the actor who plays Legolas is also the main character in the movie Kingdom of Heaven. He looks so different with the blond hair. These movies are so good, they are my absolute favorite. The moment Gandalf comes down that hill with the cavalry, and the music along with it, gives me chills every time. I can’t wait to watch you react to the last one. Thank you ☺️

they should of just threw the ring into Éowyn's stew im sure that would of destroyed it to 🤣 and one of my favourite quotes from anywhere is "“Their Coming Was Like The Falling of Small Stones That Starts an Avalanche in The Mountains”. Gandalf Speaks of the Awakening of the Ents.

the Uruk'ai using ladders to breach Helm's Deep, is a real war tactic. Alexander the Great used war ladders to breach many cities & kingdoms. a little historical fact. I believe the writer of the books, Tolkien, was also a history professor.

He also was a soldier during WW1, hence why the books tended to have no glamor for battles, but yeah the ladder was an easy and cheap way to get past city defenses, well easy in comparison to digging tunnels *under* the wall, since ladder men & siege tower soldiers were often times the first casualties in direct battle.

Why Frodo? He's still the least risky option. All other possible options - a dwarf, an elf, a man or a wizard - they would have failed and taken the Ring far earlier than where Frodo has reached now. A good example is what happened to Boromir. Yes, hobbits are physically weak, but their minds can resist the Ring on a different level.

Viggo Mortensen, who plays Aragorn, certainly appreciated his horse in the movie and his stunt stunt double. He actually purchased the horse and gave it to the stunt double. Viggo started in a few movies I think you'll like. In 2004, he starred in Hidalgo, where he plays an American cowboy who takes part in a race across Arabia. He also started in "A History if Violence," "Eastern Promises," "Captain Fantastic," and "The Green Book."

@49:23 The Ring uses its bearer; amplifies their useful traits, and vices to further its own agenda. Hobbits are not warlords, wizards, or kings, and Frodo accepted the ring without wanting it. What can it do chained to a hobbit; it can't abandon him, and can only tempt others?

The elves are not originally from Middle Earth. They come from a place over the ocean known as Aman "The Undying Lands." They've always just been visiting Middle Earth. So when we see them leaving/talking about leaving, it's leaving Middle Earth for another realm of existence.

So, I found something a few weeks ago that explained why Pippin is so childish. If we go by the way Hobbits age then Pippin would be considered 15 years old in our terms. He's childish because he's still technically a child, while everyone is an adult. In the books, Frodo is 51 when they leave the Shire. In hobbit terms he would be in his mid 20s. Merry isn't much older than Pippin, but would still be considered an adult as far as I understand it.

  • @CaseyQ

@Marianna55776 they are objectively bad films, riddled with poor, over the top cgi and extended further than needed to be for the sake of money. A cash grab show lacking the same innovation and ambitious artistry the first contained. Lotr aside, they are bad films. My 9 year old likes them though so I get it.

@@CaseyQ A LOTR stan claims their opinion is objective and tries to patronise me in the process. I could never have predicted such a response 😂. All of those points are valid… to you. If ‘ambitious artistry’ is what you seek, there are plenty of other pretentious movies for you to laud over.

OK now in these movies you will see the Easterlings in this. You may like an explanation 😄 The East is were the Dark Lord has made his home and manipulated the Easterlings in to fighting on his side for thousands of years. He is like a dark angel. The men of the East are not evil, there are just some who have been bent to The Dark Lords will. There are two more Wizards who drop out of the sky and go to the east and are never heard from again, The Blue Wizards. They work with the good Easterlings who don't want to serve The Dark Lord helping to reduce his power in the war. Know one knows what exactly they did. Tolkien hinted at that part but it was not like in a movie. The Author was a professor who did world history and languages. The world he crated is really rich and Dungeons and Dragons is it's child. 😄 There are more stories than just Lord of the Rings from this world but LOTR is the most completed story. 🧙‍♂

The elves are eternal. They were meant to wake the world and pass the world to men when they proved themselves worthy. I guess "god" in the world gave them a "heaven" that they are able to travel to when they are finished with life. Her father is saying it's time for us elves to pass the world on, and if you stay, all you know will die while you're stuck here forever
