That's how MCs battles were back in the '70s until Kool Moe Dee changed the game and started dissin'. His battle with Busy Bee is what sparked lyricism and dissin' in hip hop, but MCs like Busy Bee were mainly "hypemen" for the DJs before they became lyrical swordsmen.

Meh. Percee P for the easy win. DITC was always a favorite of mine. Finesse is great with a crew. I have a couple of his solo albums, though. Can’t sit through it for more than a couple tracks at a time. Just gets a bit too caught up in the punchlines for my taste. Just personal preference. I can still see where he’s high up in the pantheon for many. I guess, all things considered, he is for me too. Just in small doses.

The DJ at the end is just sick!!!!!!! Bananas!!!!!!! Real hip hop will never die!!!!!!! The hard stuff!!!!!!

what a sick rap battle... for me Lord Finesse is one of the greatest lyricist of all time but Percee P was also really dope so yes there is no winner.

I love that people here aren't really trying to determine a winner for once and are just enjoying the music for what it is. Hip-Hop at its purest here

Yeah, that's why I can't get into the battle rap scene today. All that posturing and they don't really flow. They just talk with no beats. They stop and start over. The long pauses and the fake crew beefs. A lot of people like it, but I don't like. I think the battle rap scene peaked in like '03 and diminished by '09.

Percee's verse is Jordan in '92. Nobody's beating him.

Back in the day, word was that LORD FINESSE was considered the best freestyle rapper.. 👍👍
