The Awakening is a stone cold CLASSIC
Rakim, Kool G. Rap, Kane, LL Cool J, KRS One, Slick Rick & Lord Finesse basically laid the Blueprint for every lyrical rapper that came afterwards. If you listen to any lyricist from 1990 - Present day you will find elements of influence from one of these Mc's...
“Keep the crowd listenin, I’m so magnificent, it even says finesse on my birth certificate”….
Lord Finesse is a true legend!!
I can listen to Finesse punch all day
“I get ahh’s and ooh’s, not boo’s, cause I’m real smooth. Fuckin with finesse is the wrong career move..”
Lord Finesse was KING of the punch lines. It's a shame , too underrated. Peace to Talib for the interview. Well deserved
Respect Lord Finesse.
You better step to the next man, because the greatest soccer player couldn’t kick it like Finesse can. 😎💯
Definitely a gem. Id like to see more of Lord finesse

Bro, i HOPE you mentioned the Percee P battle at some point during the interview.. talk about one of the most magical golden era moments caught on tape
Smooth rap maestro wild like a psycho, step to this and get sparked like a light show.
"Now its the dictator who's style is greater. It's the man with more wild flavors than mu fuckin NowNLaters"
He has a point that today's rhyming/battling is so predictable. Everyone is shit scared to be who they really are on M.I.C
@konrTF

That's not what he said. He said that when something IS predictable in modern battle rap you'll have people predicting the punch etc. but that doesn't mean it's more predictable now on average lol
@TheSupremeDunk

Thats not what he said.....He's talking about in Smack URL type leagues when cats battle....in the middle of their rounds when doing a set up for a punchline...the opponent we'll say your punchline BEFORE or with you if it was predictable! Example: if im battling Charlie Clips and said..."Look at you overweight ass hole/ I bet when you were young your friends called you ....." and Clips will look at the crowd and say "Fatso"! To show his opponents punchline was predictable.

One thing I liked about Finesse is that he always had a cool arrogance in his vocal presence. Like on his song, "You know What I'm About," he spits in a smooth conversational style that drips with arrogance and conceit; it's as if he's saying, "c'mon yo, how many times I gotta tell y'all... you can't fuck wit me, yo" in every bar.
Outstanding interview! Lord Finesse is definitely a true Emcee who represents the essence of the art form of Emceeing! Essential Elements of HIP-HOP! Talib Kweli must interview O.C. too. Peace & Respect.
DITC!!!! The dopest crew ever!!! Only Juice Crew and Hit Squad are close!!
First Redman, then Ali Shaheed and now Finesse … thanks Talib and Jasmin ! Peace from Brussels
I got it locked like a warden, rap without Finesse is like the NBA without Jordan. 💯
Rhymes stay fresher than a virgin in a refrigerator...🔥🔥🔥
Damn this man made dudes spit they best....very very very underrated a true HipHop legend amongst legends Lord Finesse

I'm gonna watch the full interview right now but Lord Finesse is one of the greatest to ever do it. Just from this you can see this man is a lyricist. This interview and all the Preemo interviews have made these last few weeks an amazing Birthday month for Hip Hop. Thank you.
Thank You!!!
I don’t stutter I’m so butter like no other word I’m that funky type of soul brother.
Awesome 👍🏽😎
💯💯💯
I’m smooth and wise l, skills I utilize, lyrics so advanced you’d think my brain was computerized.
I hold the title because I’m a cool champ, if rap was money you’d be rated as a food stamp.
That first album was an all time classic
lord finesse in my personal top 3 greatest mcs of all time his track S.K.I.T.S. will always be one if the greatest tracks in hip hop - timeless - educational and his rap battle with percy pee is 🔥

Lord Fineese is the king of "like.." in his rhymes.

Agree with him about some rappers today going for punchlines every line. Cardi B’s ghostwriters I’m looking at you.

Props to my buddy Jet who had me getting to talk to Lord Finesse on the phone. He was so sweet and chill.

How come UPROXX never makes closed captions available on their videos? They really help hearing impaired people follow the conversation, but they never have that feature available. I'm beginning to think UPROXX hates deaf people.

I wonder is he gonna speak on Mike Smoothe. I guess he was the dj. But I'm pretty sure most if not all them scratches on the 1st album was Premo.... Then after that, dude just disappeared. Can't really say he was needed obviously. Lol
Toast MC's, eat 'em up with margarine
This comment section for the win 🏆😁
Finesse is genius. the end.
I’m stupid but what if someone took a spiral cipher and applied that to rhyme scheme? Like if you were to go like 2 syllables 3 syllables 4, but format that in a spiral.
you dig me like fossils
You can tell Finese don’t even fux with Kwel
I think everyone who is a beginner sounds similar

I’m all for going down memory lane but I came up in that era too and I saw over 90% of those punchlines coming even from you Mr. Finesse. Good vid tho
A punchline every bar is overdoing it. It sounds forceful; there are other games you can play between the bars to build up to an awesome punchline. Doing it bar after bar at times can be anticlimactic. If its gonna be every bar it better be brilliant
