FUN FACT: The reason why the cut on thor's stomach that Kratos gave him with the axe hasn't healed because the axe was imbued with the venom of the giant snake from the first game. It was when Kratos tossed the axe into the water and the snake spit it back out. The venom was what truly killed Thor in real life lore. If you watch for the message "Eitr embued" pop up as soon as the world serpent spits the axe back to Kratos, you'll realize that it was preparing Kratos for his battle with Thor because this version of the serpent is from the future, having been sent back in time because of its clash with Thor during Ragnarok. Eitr is a substance that is the essence of life in Norse Mythology, and the World Serpent(along with other Serpents) produces it. Eitr is also very poisonous and is foretold to be the thing that kills Thor. He slays the World Serpent in their battle at Ragnarok, but after taking just 9 steps he succumbs to the venom and dies. Clearly in this game things play out different but you can still see that the serpent's venom is taking effect in weakening Thor. All the gods can eventually take time to heal themselves but that cut from the leviathan axe remained. Kratos took advantage of this in a future fight with Thor by shoving one of his blades of chaos into it.

no that is not true, the venom only weakens your opponent the reason it hasn't healed fast is because thor likes his scars and intentionally didn't heal it fast

@@houseofactionwtf, your logic doesn't even make sense 😂. Why would the writers abandon actual mythological lore over a character's supposed fixation with having cool scars? That's a character trait you assigned him on your own 😂, I won't even consider believing you unless you wrote the plot to this game. 😂

Nice but extremely subtle foreshadowing: whenever they talk about Týr they spell it with an accent over the Y, but the subtitles for fake-Tyr never have the accent.

I think when Kratos left he made the right choice and that allowed him to think because if he stayed I think he knew the old Kratos would return and he’d just kill everyone in Asgard and everyone that stood in his way

i don't think kratos was worried about old kratos returning, i think he was worried about boy following in his footsteps. he distracted him and gave him time to begin processing instead of jumping to action.

When Odin said looks like war afterall, I love how Kratos reacted when he said that, He was like NOO! and chucked his spear at him, cause he knows he now has to see his son go to war and he may have to become the ghost of sparta once again.

'Dragons that were dwarves' was seen in the last game with Fafnir, who in norse legend did indeed turn into a dragon. The bar brawl scene is masterful work, because after carrying him out I immediately got the feeling of 'you know, I kinda don't want Kratos to kill this guy'. In many ways he is a parallel to Kratos, having done atrocious things to sate his rage and the neglect of his father, but there is something broken in him and wants to be better, just like Kratos. It always felt weird that Tyr was kept in such a small security prison in Svartalfheim, which is why the Odin twist just opened up every answer imaginable, while tragically killing off Brok (the producers liken it to 'killing the family pet') - who has always seen through 'Tyr's bullshit - and like that we've also broken Sindri, no longer caring about cleanliness or composure. He's got a point too, we haven't really given the Huldra brothers much compassion in return, they did a lot for us but all we have done is take, the selfishness of -gods- video game protagonists. Also Hrist and Mist ain't shit

I'm so mad that the editor cut out the second half of Kratos' line at 21:30 "If you are to sail, do it towards something." It completely changes the scene, instead of Kratos being needlessly harsh in this moment of mourning like the edit makes it seem, it's Kratos tempering Atreus' desire to escape his mistakes, while still giving him hope that there is a path forward. This whole sequence is full of moments like that, as well as amazing callbacks to GOW 2018. It's just fantastic from start to finish.

Of course Thor still has his weapon in the bar. One, he's an absolute unit with a knack for ruthless murder. Two, he's Odin's son, so he probably gets a free pass. Three, he can summon his hammer to his hand at any time, so there's no point in having him check it in.

27:43 Surtr is by far my favorite character in the game🔥 even with very little on screen time, he proved what it means to be a good person and in the end he sacrificed himself for the cause he believed in!🔥🫡
