Looking for turnarounds from their stars, Mets try to push through struggles | The Mets Pod | SNY

Спорт

On the latest episode of The Mets Pod presented by Tri-State Cadillac, Joe DeMayo and guest co-host Danny Abriano break down the downturns for the Mets, as the team looks to break out of slumps and struggles. Joe and Danny do deep dives into what’s going on with Francisco Lindor, Edwin Diaz, and the third base platoon of Brett Baty and Mark Vientos. Later, the guys bust the Mailbag wide open to answer questions about the high number of walks dished out by the pitching staff, whether or not Jeff McNeil has any trade value, offseason free agent targets to improve the offense, and also both sides of the MLB Trade Deadline - including what the Mets could do as either sellers or buyers this season. Finally, the show goes Down on the Farm to cover the recent promotions of prospects Blade Tidwell and Nolan McLean, and the overall aggressiveness of the organization towards minor league promotions so far in 2024. Be sure to subscribe to The Mets Pod at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Players that hit really well usually doesn't do as well defensively and the same is true the other way around. A player that can do both really well at this level is rare. That why Ohtani is getting the most money of any player. I get the Vientos and Baty comparison and why everyone is going with Mark , with the need for right now, but I personally am thinking long term between the two and I believe Brett will be worth waiting for.

I really hope you're right about the Mets being willing to add some bats this off-season even if Juan Soto isn't a possibility for them. Because right now, I feel they are just so hard to watch from an offensive perspective. And are they really going to basically go with a line-up of all their prospects/young players next year?

Jesus Luzardo or Jazz Chisholm. If they are in it AT ALL, I like these two for the Mets come 1 August

This! Catchers don't only catch, a good catcher knows how to call pitches at the right time.

What do you guys think about the Jomboy video where he demonstrates how the Mets don’t try to break up double plays compared to the rest of the league? Do you think this could be an example of some of the criticism from Tommy Pham last year? If so, how do the Mets retain guys like Pete Alonso or attract other players who want to compete? Steve Cohen may have deep pockets, but Jomboy’s video is a little alarming.

Can we give Vientos the full time job at 3rd base, send Baty down, he's a bum

Diaz's poor performance won't matter much the rest of this season considering how lousy their starting pitchers are, how many runners they strand and the opposition stealing bases at will. I believe I saw Kodai Senga's picture on a missing poster...any day now...any day...

This team is toast, but then again, didn't we already know this before the season started? Same basic core as the last three years. What changed? Some bits and pieces.
