I’ve seen comments that mention the dark skinned characters in FFXIV but also keep in mind that your character that you create is also a main character in the game. You’ll always be seeing your character in the cutscenes, it’s great.

Fun fact: The vocals were provided by Sam Carter, lead singer from Architects! And as per usual, great and energetic reactions we love to see!!!

As an FFXIV player and a long time viewer of your videos, I'm so happy that my worlds are colliding here. Thank you for your FFXIV reactions, I love them!

This trailer was so hype when it dropped and some big streamers got into the game because of it so there were HELLA new players all joining and playing through old content together. It was so dope.

One of the best thing about this trailer is thought out you hear the other trailer main songs remixed, like during the dragon bit you hear Dragonsong, the bit after that with the tower has Stormblood in it. It totally makes the fact Endwalker was to finish the story started back in 1.0 of the game. (Endwalker release was 6.0 as a heads up) And don't worry, we have more trailers to come, just totally new story focuses so how much of the old cast will come back for the new start in 7.0 is something we will have to see come the Fanfests (events held for the game as a whole as a love letter to the community and the place they tease the up coming expos and other things like new jobs)

So happy you reacted to this. FF14 is truly a masterpiece of a game and there's still more to expect from it. Also yes, there's a handful of chocolate folk across the FF series. To name a few I can recall right off the bat in FF14, there's M'Naago, Gaius, Arenvald, Erenville, Raubahn, Grynewaht, Curtis, Ilberd, Meffrid, and Magnai if I'm not mistaken. I think Lolorito was one too but I could be wrong. I'll have to check all the characters again.

you won't have to worry about Copyright because the songs are all made for the game and you can even listen to them ingame with a certain item! The composer Masayoshi Soken did all the music for the game and even the trailer music is self-made! in this case he used elements from all prior expansions to make the music since this expansion for the MMO was the ending of a very long story bit that came to an end. The game isn't going anywhere though and the next expansions are already in the works :D

Alisea had NO problem with the Warrior of Light stepping up to protect her. lol...

Final Fantasy in general, yes Barrett from Final Fantasy 7 would probably be the most famous black character. Fran, the bunnygirl from FF12 as well. In FF14 specifically, also yes. There's a myriad of different people in 14. General Rauban aka The Bull of Ala Mhigo. And, new from Endwalker, the bunnyboi Erenville. To name a few

It really depends on what you mean by "black characters" there are certainly an array of skin tones. "Black" generally refers to people of African decent. In which case, technically no, there aren't. Unless you overlay the geographical positions of the continents of Hydaelyn to those of Earth, Aldenard would overlay Africa. Which would mean everyone from Eorzea is African adjacent.

The nice thing about FFXIV is that it's not like most MMOs out there. It's a final fantasy rpg first and foremost. The story is what you're there for, and so it really is beneficial to take your time and enjoy it. You don't have to spend hundreds of hours every week playing just to get to the "good stuff". It's all about the journey. There is a free trial that consists of the base game and the first expansion (basically the story from level 1 to 60) if you're ever curious about it. Again it's something you can easily sit down and chill for an hour with, enjoy it, and then move on to other things and come back when you want. Very player-friendly. It's the only mmo I still consistently support because of that.

Little late to comment but in case it helps: the story keeps moving to explore new places with each expansion and so far we have not had one that is predominately populated by people with darker toned skin. If we compare in-game countries to real life, we've started in Western Europe and seen the near east, the far east, south central Asia (India), and Northeast Europe. The next expansion appears to be taking us to a place corresponding to pre-colonial America, likely central or southern. So we do get some of the more middling tones (and your main character has many options). All of that said while dark-skinned people are not common, there is still plenty of reason to believe we will see it happen at some point that we travel to such a country/continent. There have been hints of a 'southern continent' which may very well correspond to Africa in general. If you are willing to google it or have any FF14 friends you trust, maybe you can get them to show you screenshots of the followers for the goddess Sophia. They might be the best example of what I think you're asking about at the end there. There's a prominent story character named Erenville as well who has a dark complexion. I'm not sure where his homeland is but if he comes from the 'new world' maybe we will see some communities there sooner.

Just did a quick search, loved your reactions to Heavensward & Stormblood a little bit ago! You asked at the end if there was more. I couldn't find a reaction video for the Shadowbringers trailer. Shadowbringers is the expansion between Stormblood and this one (Endwalker) It's a solid trailer, I strongly recommend reacting to that as well! (Fire music as well)

28th of July 2023, will be when Fanfest will be held in Las Vegas. If previous years are anything to go by, we'll have a new partial trailer for a teaser with more revealed in the European and Tokyo fanfests later on

Seeing that blond guy with the scythe was how the new Reaper job/class was revealed, the weapons are how you tell them apart. You make a pact with a void creature to feed them energy from opponents and may use their powers in exchange, and sometimes you fuse, but you only unlock the class after a lot of story that explains the worlds involved, what the voidsent/demons are and similar. I play particularly slow and like to clear out all quests, so it took me 1000 hours to reach Endwalker through the 10 years of game, but I hear 200-250 hours is the average time

Endwalker is currently the most recent expansion for FFXIV so there's sadly no more trailers like this... For now... As for black characters? Well... There's Barret in FFVII but that's about my limit of knowledge on the franchise XD

This team is also going to make a single player game FF 16, with most of crew of FF 14 making it.

It depends on how you skew 'black' when a couple races can go crayon!black. Won't lie, vast majority of the cast is pale and pale-adjacent, but the non-human races hit tones of red, green, blue, purple, and grey as well as natural skin tones, so beyond hyurs, it's rough to judge where to draw the line beyond personal preference. Outside 14, off the top of my head there's Barret from 7, Leo from 6, Kiros and Raijin from 8, Fran from 12, Ash from Stranger in Paradise, and Sazh and his son in 13.

A sucker for a good scythe as always i see.

Yup there are black characters.

Other than player characters, there are a handful of character's that are like dark skinned black, and a decent number that are brown skinned, but I don't think any of them are African influenced. It's likely to happen eventually though. We have your European influences, both western and eastern, some vaguely Mexican, some middle eastern, some east Asian (mix of Japanese, Chinese, and a tiny bit of Vietnamese that I'm aware of), as well as Mongolian, and in this latest expansion some Indian influences. Note they're not meant to represent these regions/cultures directly, just take inspiration from, and the team does its homework, and general reception has been respectfully referenced. I wouldn't be surprised to see some African influence in the next expansion or two though.
