    I kinda love how emet's voice is gentle, after he starts speaking about the wonders that we have yet to see. He starts mentioning them after our reaction his passing. And way he speaks is encoruaging, like as if he is trying to encoruage the next generation to take up the mantle, and carry on the duty of the ancients, of Azem. Same duty which he took it upon himself once upon a time and only recently decided to hand over, after we proved that yes..While ours is a fragmented existence, perhaps it is a right one. Perhaps one needs to be fragmented to see more, to strive through hardship, to adept and learn to deal with. Deal not with the monsters, but of despair of the mankind itself, for unlike the ancients of the unbroken world, we of the fragmented existence grew in despair, knowing our days are numbered yet carrying on marking the sands, and creating a path for the next generations to carry us, the mankind ever forward. You could say that it certainly is a new dawn for Etheirys, without the mother crystal, and zodiark---And ancients. Mankind on it's two feet, with it's destiny in their hands, and their heads held aloft. Not with pride but with wisdom that was earned from the mistakes they have comitted and overcome, together.

    Man I was crying so hard at this point when I played through, and the soothing gentleness in his voice at that part was just. Everything. He realizes we don't want him to leave.... but because we are Azem, he knows how to comfort us. New adventures. Piquing our curiosity and our interest, and giving us the full responsibility of our old selves. Giving us his blessing and fully investing in us as the last scion (not Scion) of the Ancients. Accepting us as what remains of his dearest friend. And with Hythlodaeus in his rightful place at Hades' side again, he'll no longer be alone. He's at peace, and he wanted us to be so as well. And he knows the best way to do that is to give us Adventures.

    @@saralovelace7219 And also...the words: "And so, as a show of respect to the last of ***US***, I make this declaration. You will not end ***OUR*** journey! That is ***OUR***answer! The answer of all lives of Etheirys, past and present!" It is a really nice touch, such a change from the ending of Shadowbringer. Where Emet is a skulking man, walking with his back bent as he was carrying the burden of all his kin and the responsibility to bring them back. Seeing us only as mere fragments that are not even sentient beings on their own right when compared to the perfect world before sundering. I love how they didn't make Emet suddenly go: I AM GOOD NOW. But instead he says that his goal is simply not attainable, yet he sees us worthy of defending the star, and to me at least there seem to be a sense of relief within him. Same for Vena/Hydalin, when she died, she looked tired, exhausted yet relieved. WoL truly took upon the torch and their burdens and set these two ancients free of their burden and despair.

  • @saralovelace7219
    @saralovelace72192 жыл бұрын

    "You will not end our journey. *That* is our answer. The answer of all lives of Etheirys, past *and* present." What a fucking powerhouse of a line. And Rene's reading of it is just. God it makes me cry every time. Talk about thematic payoff. From "Answers" at the end of 1.0 all the way through Meteion's search for answers at the behest of a nihilistic mad scientist who couldn't find one within himself. And talk about *character* payoff. Not only is Emet-Selch getting to face down the very thing that took away from him everything and everyone he held dear, the thing that turned him into the sort of man his younger self despised... but he's facing her down and answering her challenge on the behalf of not only his own beloved people, but the mortals that until so recently he claimed to despise and hate. (I say claim because I think he's a damned liar who hid his broken heart and repeatedly dashed hopes for mortal mankind behind snarky claims of hatred and disgust.) It's a stellar moment of character and thematic payoff wrapped up in one amazing line.

    i think the implication that Ardbert's voice at the start and end of tht walks is that he's the one reminding you of all those who are relying on you. It's shown that he's still 'there', thanks to our brief moment in SoS and when we allowed him to take over our body to speak with Seto, so i think the theory has some merit. Even so i just love this part :'3 and i also believe that what was preventing us from reaching Meteion's nest by this point was our own despair, the despair of being alone, of carrying this weight that he had been sharing with the Scions and so many others. it's brief, but we nearly gave in.

    I heard few comparisons, but to me, Emet is one of the best villains we’ve ever faced. Our ideals clashed, we butted our heads, but he had a reason to. He was devastated in what he lost and fought for it. He did it for his greater good and most of us understood that. That line about him being defeated, but his ideals were invincible, that determination what made him an interesting antagonist. Course, he lost someone really REALLY close, mainly Hythlodaeus. Having to suffer along, knowing his friend sacrificed himself to save the star. He really wanted his friends back. Can’t imagine what was it like for them to finally reunite after so many years and knowing that his friend finally can be at peace and not be stuck near Zordiark. Then there’s you having to endure so much and remembering all those people that you met and your comrades being by your side again. There’s a reason why people said don’t skip the cutscenes. All that build up really paid off! Last thing to note is Meteion. Personally, she’s a victim that was overwhelmed by negative emotions and making the song of oblivion with her sisters. When she finally cracked upon seeing the field of flowers, that burden was lifted. The finale awaits!

    The scene where you had to walk was also a reflection of Emet. Just a taste of what he went through for a thousand, thousand life times. Not just remembering your loved ones, but having to bare what would, and eventually did happen, to 99% of the people that he knew. It's storytelling that takes time and patience to craft. All the more that this story comes now. All over the world, people ask what's the point of it all. The ending to this ten year journey, carefully crafted, was great. Can't wait for our friend here to finish it.

Nothing to live up to what Zidane was going through that required the strength and love of his friends to bring him back. I still found it a powerful moment though. First hearing those lyrics when G'raha sacrificed himself, I started feeling considerably emotional. Losing the twins hit me much harder. But 'The Walk', as it's called... and hearing Haurchefant's line... I got as far as Aymeric's line before I just had to stop and cry. Endwalker just knew how to hit us all squarely in the feels. One way or another, Ultima Thule brought most of us to tears along the way.

    Emet-Selch isn't just arguably the best antagonist in the entire media series bearing the "Final Fantasy" title, but one of the best-written *characters* to boot. It also doesn't hurt matters that René Zagger turned in absolutely stellar performances thus far as Emet's VA, granting a unique personality, a theatrical flair, and yes - that damnable swagger - to a man who loved his world and its people so much that he would see himself become (what some would consider) a wretched, abominable, genocidal villain just to attempt to be reunited with those friends he lost (& sacrificed, in the case of those souls who became part of Zodiark) to the first Final Days and its aftermath. "But more than that, the future you seek is not the past we loved. That is why we fought, and why I lost." - Hades AKA Emet-Selch, Third Seat of the Convocation of Fourteen o7

    Knowing bits of the out of game side stories you can get and realizing that Hythlodaeus will literally jump at the chance to do things with you makes it all better. Especially if it leaves a mess for Emet to clean up. Apparently that volcano incident mentioned in passing in Elpis? Yeah our excuse was we saved an entire island from a krakatoa event........for grapes. Hythlo bypassed all the regulations to give us Lahabreha's ifrit concept which we congealed the volcano's energy into and kicked its butt. And then Hades had to clean up all the paperwork. All four of us together were basically a standard FF14 party. Goof, headstrong, the one guy holding sanity together, and the multiclasser. ...Also the fact Hades finally acknowledged us as true enough to his old unsundered friend to the point he cared enough to cheer us up so he could leave with a smile on our face.

    I love how in Shadowbringers you kinda assume maybe it was the years of loneliness and resentment that made Emet a salty boi.... but no, he was just always a crusty old man lol.

    the people in the comments, New Game+ is for people who enjoyed the story and want to relive it... not for punk boosters who paid to skip the story. I loved the comment "I can understand wanting to play" so why pay to skip 90% of the playing? obviously you dont want to play. this endgame is the only game is a cancerous wow ideal that needs to die a thousand deaths in the pits of the seven hells.
