Side note for the bosses and the song. The FF14 expansion they occur in is the current one (Endwalker). The whole expansion takes heavily (and i mean HEAVILY) inspiration from greek mythology and Dantes journey through purgatory, hell and heaven. It is an incredible mix of these 2 lores. The tree symbolized an almond tree, born of Agdistis' blood. The boss itself has the same name; Agdistis. The blood was spilted because the gods were angry at Agdistis for being to arrogant. So they cut off his/her genitals (was a hermaphrodite). It also has some greek lore names fit into its encounter. E.g. one mechanic is called "Bow of Attis". Attis is the son of a fruit of this tree and therefore considered the son of Agdistis itself. In another version however is Attis the lover of Agdistis which was emasculated himself by the gods because of their loving relationship. The snake lady is hegemone, which is a greek god for plants (bloom and bearing fruits). However, unlike for the tree, I didnt care to find the connection to her mechanics yet, even though i m sure there are some. The song itself however is more inspired of Dantes journey as we are progressing through the circles of the purgatory.

Dedicated to Moonlight is great, but it benefits *so* much from the music leading up to it. The alliance raid soundtracks in general slowly morph through themes into their final forms and the journey is always a treat.

I can tell you the rule for FFXIV music is that: as long as there is gameplay in the back its okay. With a very few exceptions, I think the song Answers is one of them

The thing about these lyrics is about halfway through the song, the bosses realize you're not locked in there with them. They're locked in there with you and become terrified

thankfully, FFXIV is very lenient with reactions and their music, even more so than Rooster Teeth is with RWBY and Red vs Blue, so feel free to react to more music without worry. The soundtrack has SO many fucking bangers. "Fiend" and "Oblivion" are other great songs if you liked this one. "To the Edge" is top tier. (sorry if you reacted to any of these already :P)

Man, hearing this again after dropping ffxiv for a while is making me wanna dive back into these fights with my old static group. One of the few boss fight songs that never got old for me, other than the instrumental version from an earlier fight that just felt like a tease compared to how great this one is

Yes, this is a real boss, two of them, the Tentacle Lady and the Tree. The footage in this is from the "normal mode", made to be beaten by anyone without too much effort. There's also Savage versions of the fights, which requires you to coordinate with 7 other players to do a MUCH harder version of the fight, usually with entirely new attacks or even phase-changes.

you mentioned wanting to play Ico, I was wondering have you ever played Shadow of the Colossus? If not that's another game I'd highly recommend originally from the same devs as Ico. It's had a remake done of it now that's beautiful, and keeps everything in tact, so if you haven't I'd highly suggest playing that.

Fiend, and The Hand that Gives the Rose(phase 1)/ Unbending Steel (phase 2) are more great songs to the lists other have made. Honestly ff14 has some of the most out there songs that you think wouldn't work but the mad man that is Masayoshi Soken made them work. Honestly just getting the OST of the different eras of ff14 would be worth it for anyone as there is something you will find you love in it.

And it's my lonely opinion I think lol but shadows of the colossus was over-hyped... it was most a pain in the ass and the story was empty as the world... idk...it's still just me lol
