I actually met Michael Murphy's mom at a va hospital in Huntington, what a wonderful and caring woman. I'm sure her son is smiling on her from heaven, and I hope this movie impacts her life for the better.

Most inspirational film, not only great actors, but such a touching story. Really changed my perspective about the military and how much they do for their countries. It's truly the best movie i have ever seen and will never ever be replaced. This shows what they went through to help their country, they didn't have to do this, they didn't have to sign up, but these people chose to fight for their countries freedom. If you have not seen this film, or you are just simply looking at trailers and just flicking through, stop here, go to the dvd store or the internet or any place you will find this movie, and watch it, put your phone down, maybe even turn it off to keep you from distractions, 2 hours thats all. Just give all your attention to this brilliant film, trust me.

I don't understand some of the comments that seem to be negative about this movie and mark the others, the movie and what happened. None of us were there so we don't know how accurate the movie is in showing what happened that day. Luttrell and those that died obviously found themselves in a situation that none of us would ever want to be in. Many others have also died in similar situations and they should all be given our thanks and respect for the sacrifices they have made.

Marcus Luttrell: [narrating] There's a storm inside of us. I've heard many team guys speak of this. A burning. A river. A drive. An unrelenting desire to push yourself harder and further than anyone could think possible. Pushing ourselves into those cold, dark corners, where the bad things live. Where the bad things fight. We wanted that fight at the highest volume. A loud fight. The loudest, coldest, darkest, most unpleasant of the unpleasant fights.

This was definitely one of the most unique movies I've ever seen! I felt like a helpless observer, forgetting about the fact that I was in the theatre. It ripped my heart out to see it happen, even though I already thoroughly knew the story. It focused on the men and let the story happen; instead of lines there was dialogue. Undoubtedly an inspired movie!

This movie was inspirational. It makes me believe that anyone can become a navy seal if you but your heart to it. It told me that if accomplish my dream and become a navy seal, then I'll have people that will have my back and I will have theirs. No matter what, you never end the fight, you never stop, you protect your country no matter how bad it gets...... It shows brotherhood, bravery, courage, and that those men gave everything to protect the country they so loved. ~Amen

No one besides Luttrell knows exactly what happened that day. We know the details but that doesnt mean that we truly know what happened. This movie was th sadest thing I have ever watched in my life. There was so much sacrifice and pain in it but then there was also the love between the soldiers. They are brothers in their hearts. I think that for Marcus to share the whole story is etremely brave and I think that this memory should live on. The people who died died protcting others and made a sacrifice that many would not. If anyone has any negative things to say about anything of his then dont say it because it is plain rude and selfish and you obviosuly hav no sympathy or heart. Let them rest in peace now. RIP all soldiers who's lives were taken

I agree. I hate all of the comments I see that bash on America and say that these men were terrorists. They were not terrorists at all. In fact, they were trying to rid the world of real terrorists like Ahmad Shah. It sickens me to see people being so disrespectful to these men and accusing America of being terrorists. How much better are their countries than ours? Hell, many of their countries throughout history have been extreme imperialists. Look at Russia right now, for instance. Anyway, I'm ranting about the same thing that other people are. This was probably the best movie I have ever seen and had an extreme impact on my understanding of what these men do.

In case u guys dunno'bout the def of heroes, its the ppl who died(doesnt have to b all slow-mo and noble) for their cause, so their faction think of'em as heroes, but imma canadian i think they are heroes none the less, cuz they were fighting for the country they love, they didnt die in vain, they died as death for the country(which evry soldier, spec-ops operator must face, the fact that u might give ur lives to save ur country/cause in evry gun fight), in other words did they die in vain? They died the way we(soldiers) expected to die, they accomplished their mission, sure whatevr u think they fought for is bad, but they know about'dat god damn it, so, its not in vain if u know how u died and what u died for, it is in vain howevr, how they 'make use' of ur death. So the conclusion is, evr god damn soldier is a hero for their cause, nazis r heroes to well, nazis, allies r villains to nazis etc, vice versa...

It seems like the writer deliberately wants to ridicule our seals, but in a smart way. Because anyone with couple of IQs could realize that we lost and the Afghan man was the hero and he is the one should get an Oscar or Noble prize. He knew that we are attacking his countrymen with our drones, yet he saved our seal, despite the fact that he was going losing his cousin's life and his house to Taliban.

I'm sure this question haunts luttrell to this day.. ultimately, the reason they didn't was because we (america) fight war based around rules, whereas they (taliban) play by no rules, but at the same time, use our own rules against us. The Geneva convention states that you cannot hurt or leave willingly in harm's way any unarmed civilian. Read Lone Survivor, Marcus discusses this issue in great detail..

Five Branches I've had this same discussion with my friends and family. The only alternatives we thought were realistic was to 1.) at least keep their arms tied in the hopes it slows them down or 2.) take them as hostages until they get communications up and then release. But easy to be an arm chair commando and critique things in hindsight. I can barely watch the movie anymore because it actually makes me angry what happened to such great men. Just my 2 Cents
