Loved this video. Between 1969 and 1971, Soho was my patch. I rented a tiny little basement photo studio in Gerrard Street, opposite the Tailor & Cutter magazine. To contribute a couple of personal musical reminiscences I once saw John Lennon and Yoko Ono leaving Lee Ho Fook's, in Macclesfield Street. I made De Hems, the Dutch pub which was just opposite, my local, and there one afternoon had the honour of buying a couple of pints for Eric Burdon (of the Animals). To shamelessly take this name dropping to the limit, I should also mention that I also photographed Mary Quant, the inventor of the mini-skirt. Ah, the swinging sixties...

Excellent stuff Rob. I used to work at Keith Johnsons on Great Marlborough Street in the mid-eighties. Walking down Wardour Street in my lunch hour one day, I literally bumped into Phil Collins as he stepped out of a doorway on to the street. I nearly bowled him over!

OMG, I used to hang out with that bloke in the shades at 11.30. His name is Guy and was one of Bromley's top punks decades ago, and has run a punk club and magazines in Germany ever since. And yes, he was in a Billy Idol video. Billy's mum lived round the corner from him and they were close mates. Great geezer

I've forgotten how great a city London is but your videos are reminding me again. In 1997 I stayed a week near the British Museum and would walk to and fro from Soho and Soho Square every day. It felt like the center of the world at that time. Have been to the city 3 times (from Canada) and am vowing to go back in the not too distant future.

Steve Jones lived there. It was their rehearsal room. They filmed a few videos in there most notably the footage for No Feelings. The guy who owns the guitar shop likes to mess people about saying you can go see then drawings, and then pretending he's not the person you spoke to... The first ever Pistols gig was there indeed and they fell out with Bazooka Joe and had to wheel their gear over the road from Denmark St. I could go on and on about that area. Goth started in Leeds and Wakefield of course, and I remember going to the Batcave when we played down there. Also the Marquee when that was on Wardour St. Soho was a great area.

at the back of what was/is Andys guitarshop in Denmark st, a 16th century barn was discovered and converted into a very small but perfectly formed music venue called "the twelve bar", very trendy, it became quite the thing to do a gig there in the late eighties' ? I don't know if it still exists.
