Goes to show that Conan Doyle was completely wrong, the homeless can't emulate Neville Saint Clair and make a living spouting poetry or literature at passers-by.
Oh ancient footage of the glorious times where you could walk up to strangers and talk to them without the constant fear of infecting them with a potential deadly disease. Most excellent, good Sir. Keep up your valuable and educational work.
I grew up in London in the 80's and my Dad would take us kids on massive walks around different parts of London and tell us the local history. Now 30 odd years later the brilliant and entertaining Joolz is doing it. I love binge watching this channel as I no longer live in London but sometimes miss it like an old school sweetheart.
Hi Joolz, I loved the old newsreel style commentary. Well that was an interesting choice of drink to finish with!! Tally Ho Old Bean
I can't walk out but I feel like I've just had a diverting walk in the sunshine - thank you
As a WWII history buff that intro was quite possibly one of the best things I have ever seen. LMAO
It is really weird to see London this empty, it's surrealistic. This video will put a lot of smiles on people's faces with your uplifting talk. And the vintage Jules fits in perfectly.
Thank you so much. My heart is crying for London and the world. Stay safe.
@ds1868

No need to cry for London. It's endured far worse incidence in history than the current pandemic. The last wave of the Black Death in 1665 was far more deadly, then the City was virtually wiped out in the Great fire of 1666. Nearly one third of central London was destroyed during the German bombing 1940-44. The current pandemic wlll pass just like everything else. The City of London is nearly 2,000 years old and will always survive.
You were featured on the Australian news doing a brief standup interview about the lockdown. Great to see you still out and about on your walks.

"Woulda been interesting, HAD it been a Roman Bath" Such insubordination from the crew!!
Thank you so much for another interesting and informative video. I was especially pleased to hear your commentary and watch the footage about Joseph Bazalgette as he is a distant ancestor of mine. When he died in 1891 he left around £16.5 million. None of this money, however, has trickled down to me! 😊
My daughter and I used to spend a few days of our summer holidays in London since 2015. This year we wanted to bring my parents with us to show them the city. Booked the flight and hotel in January. Now it's unsure if we can come at all. Your video reminds how much I miss London... It does look strange without the people.

I live in Canada but grew up in London in the fifties.Used to watch Pate News at the cinemas, you really nailed that! My dad moved from Vancouver to London during the war and I was always asking him what was so great about London.Imagine!

It's really nice to see what Central London looks like without all those humans and their assorted paraphernalia cluttering up the place.
Wonderful!! I have family in England. Up until recently they were all Londoners. I began coming to England in 1968, & my last trip was 2019. I could write a book about how I have watched things change. I love the Embankment, & taking boat rides on the Thames. But... “Oh, the Roast Beef of Old England!”
