    Thanks for directly comparing these! I was feeling stuck between the mx master 3s for the magnetic wheels and the Lift for the new hand position. I think my hands and wrists are feeling tight and painful both from a lot of computer work and smartphone scrolling, so I wasn’t sure if the fast wheels would help me more than the vertical position. (I currently use the Logitech pebble) It sounds like the vertical position is going to make more of an impact for me. Thank you also for the tip about horizontal scrolling! I’ve never had that before without using a keyboard modifier in my software.

When I work on my other computer, I go back to the MX3S, but the Lift feels way more natural to me now. I had never heard of the Logitech Pebble before, but it looks like an Apple Magic mouse. Hey Aaron! I'm actually still using this mouse as my main mouse everyday for around 8 to 10 hours a day. I still use the MX 3S on my secondary computer, but the Lift is now my main mouse. I did notice some discoloration on the left side of the mouse under where the back and forward buttons are, but I've been cleaning it about once a month with a lightly dampened cloth and it removes the stains. I've also managed to keep my MX 3S clean by cleaning it with a damp cloth as well. It definitely is prone to discoloration. My room is usually kept at a comfortable temperature year round. However, if it was hot and humid often, I know it would be in way worse condition due to sweat, oils, etc. It can be kept clean with more frequent maintenance, but not everyone has time for that.

    @@DemCrumblies Thanks for your reply! I recently purchased a white Jelly Comb vertical mouse and with only 3 days of use it began yellowing around the thumb and fingertips areas. This white Jello Comb mouse can't even be cleaned with 91% rubbing alcohol as recommended by the seller, so I'm going to return it. Hey! Thanks for the review! It's really helpful! I'm leaning towards the Lift as a gift for someone who does graphic design. However, I've heard that the Lift causes you to rest the side of your palm on the desk/mouse pad due to its vertical shape (unlike a regular mouse where your hand is horizontal and your wrist hovers). Have you noticed this? If so, is that irritating to you, like the constant rubbing or something? I've heard some people accommodate this by slightly lifting their wrist off the desk/mouse pad or getting some sort of wrist cushion, but I'm wondering if it's really a noticeable issue for people? I'm not sure. :/

  • @DemCrumblies

    Hey DB, I think it would make a great gift after they got used to the new form factor. I do lots of graphic design and I use the Lift as my primary mouse. Even with a traditional mouse like the MX 3, I still found myself placing lots of pressure or weight on the right side of my wrist, so I bought a padded mouse wrist pad where there's a gel pad for the wrist, and a flat surface above that for the mouse. I use that with the Lift as well, so I have not noticed any issues with rubbing.

    Yea I hear you, and I was thinking why didn't they just put it when I first got the Lift. However, I now realize that the reason is mag scrolling works so smoothly is because there's minimal friction since to it being perfectly horizontal how it sits. If they put something similar on the Lift, the wheel would sit at an angle, so if you flicked it, gravity would pull it down to one side and it wouldn't scroll as fast or scrolling without making a grinding or grating noise probably due to the tilt. Hope they can find some workaround though.

    I recently tried a Jelly Comb vertical mouse for around $30 and although I would avoid the white version unless you're fine with rapid discoloration, I actually loved the extremely low travel distance and near silent clicking action on the main buttons. It spreads your fingertips a little wider from your thumb than other vertical mice like the Logitech and Anker models, and it's a little bit heavier but if your hand rests comfortably with thumb and fingertips about 2 in apart, that one might be worth looking into for half the price of this Logitech.

  • @nameuser108

    First question is that If a person works with writing on keyboard like coding or just writer - there is a lot of shifting of hand from and to keyboard from mouse. If the mouse is not sideways like this I dont need to rotate my arm every time. And with this mouse I imagine I would not only need to slide my hand to and from keyboard to it, but also make lifting up movement.

  • @DemCrumblies

    @DemCrumblies

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yep you have to intentionally lift your hand higher to accommodate for the height. It took me around a week to get used to retraining my hand so that I didn't hit the top of it. Once you get used to rotating your wrist in the air while transitioning over to the keyboard, you get pretty adept at it so that it isn't really a hindrance. I always held off on trying a vertical mouse, but I think the size of this one makes the transition easier over the larger MX Vertical.

    @Gail Cruz Yea they didn't include it on the Lift. However, if you click and hold the forward or backwards button down, the vertical scroll wheel will scroll horizontally temporarily until your release the backward or forward button. So that is a pretty good work around. Here's a video showing how to do that easily: kzread.info/dash/bejne/jIeqqpeSXZetfco.html

    Sure, the length from the tip of my middle finger to the base of my palm about 7.5 inches. While my finger does rest a little off the mouse, it doesn't feel like it is falling off, so if you have hands that are small to medium, this will be fine. I actually find that I have my fingers curved slightly and not pressed right up against the side of the mouse, so maybe that's why it doesn't feel like it's falling off for me. Larger hands will definitely need a bigger mouse though. Here's a quick photo I snapped. @@DemCrumblies Hey there :) Yeah there's trade-offs, but I barely feel the weight of the mouse in my hand. It actually takes up less desk surface space, but more upwards vertical space than a traditional flat mousepad. I'm just quicker and more accurate with a regular mouse so I like it. I have a vert mouse too, but I been using the mouseramp with a regular mouse 80% of the time as I do a lot of 3D modeling and photo editing... where my hand is on the mouse and my other hand is on the keyboard typing shortcuts. Plus it's pretty easy to rest the hand on the mouseramp. I basically alternate with a mouse on and off the mouseramp nowadays. Since I got this I've actually stopped using my vert mouse. I guess it depends what kind of pointer tracking situation you're using it for, and what trade-offs your willing to make in exchange for the advantage you want to enjoy.
