Not too bad. With my recycle bin, trashbin, and compost bin, I pay $62 every month for trash service in the city and they expect a 10% increase. I don't use the big bin too much anymore so im getting the smaller one but the most it will go down is $5

Great video! Our transfer station charges $35 per mattress and we have 2 of the to get rid of this weekend. Don’t get me started on the cost for appliances lol. Insane prices. Keep up the great work.

@@jacquethirlkel3001 Its what our town refers to "the dump" as, most of the items brought there are eventually transferred out to bigger facilities to be properly disposed of.

Nice video. You may want to consider Tung oil to finish the inside wood. We used it in my wife's she shed all tongue and grove pone. We purchased 1/2 &1/2 from the Real Milk paint company. It comes premixed 50 percent Tung oil 50 percent citrus solvent. Very easy to apply did not darken the wood an smells like oranges.

Hello happy new years 2024. Best wishes in your channel:) can you make a video about to explain how do you prepare your offgrid living when you are not at home. In order to avoid freezing pipes, food etcetera. Thank you.

Wishing you a happy New Year as well! Thanks for the nice comment. We don't really let the cabin freeze up when we're not home. Usually we don't leave for more than 10-12 hours and are home in time to stoke the woodstove. If we go overnight somewhere we will run our backup propane wall heater which will keep it warm in here. We also don't have running water so the pipes won't freeze up if it did get cold in here. I worry about my plants so I try to keep it warm enough in here for them:)

Nice cabin! Our log cabin is a tad larger at 20x30. We also have 10” logs that are Swedish coped on the bottom then a special caulk between the logs inside and out. We ended up staining the outside with a light amber colored stain and used a clear lacquer on the inside logs. Our transfer station is similar and located in Gordon. Happy New Year!

Thank you! Your cabin sounds super similar, I bet it's beautiful. I like the idea of the clear inside too - I want to do something around the cook stove for sure because I need to be able to wash off the logs better. We know where that one is, too. Wishing you a happy New Year and loved your comment.

Thanks for the nice comment. So the cabin is actually 430 sq ft on the bottom not including the loft. It's more like 600 including the loft. Thanks for watching... Hope you have a happy New Year!

Great video. I was wondering why you don’t have your wood pile closer to your house so less distance to move the wood to the cabin porch

  • @KrumriesCabin

Thanks for the nice feedback. As far as the woodpile goes, we don't like it too close because of the mess it makes up by the cabin., which we had in years past.

Curious why you're not using the truck or the little scooter with the trailer. Using a wheelbarrow seems to be a lot more work. Other than that I am truly envious

I think Shane puts the wood far away because then we don't have a bunch of wood chips close to the house. A couple years ago we had it by the house and it was a mess. Thanks for your comment and for watching!

with living conditions of homesteaders why not have short hair?

  • @KrumriesCabin

Yeah, that might make things easier - especially when my hair drags in the chicken coop, yuck, lol! I've always had long hair though and love it so I need to keep it as long as it's still here. Thanks for commenting. Have a good night.
