It's crazy to me but, looking back at it, it really was a 50/50 in all fairness. I'm not a PSG fan by any means but I always wondered how things would've changed if Mbappé had buried his shot instead of passing it straight to Neuer lol

Had he won the final with PSG I think people would remember his time at PSG much more fondly, and might even argue that he’s fulfilled his potential, even without a World Cup or a ballon d’Or.

Lockdown football was mad. Manchester United were unstoppable on their travels, Lingard was ballin like he did under Mourinho then with Moyes and West Ham, Arsenal fan TV was peak, City won the Premier League title comfortably and they were 8th by the half way point, Liverpool were ravaged by injuries and Chelsea won the Champions League. Even Bruno Fernandes was putting up KDB numbers and took us to the Europa League final and secured 2nd place. Let's not forget Bamford and Calvert Lewin were scoring goals for fun. Since the fans returned, all three of them reverted back to their average skills. We'll never have another era in football than the lockdown era. It was utter chaos.

That season was probably the most I’ve ever enjoyed as a West Ham fan. Rice establishing himself as world class, lockdown Soucek, Craig Dawson becoming a fan favourite, Lingard playing the best football of his career, Ramadan Benrahma, Coufal and Ogbonna being absolute nutters, going from relegation candidates to finishing above Spurs and Arsenal and getting Europa League, nearly bottling a 3-0 lead in 3 straight games, the most undeserved win of all time against Villa, Coufal rattling Grealish in the return fixture, Antonio’s overhead kick against City, Lookman fucking up a Panenka with the last kick of the game, beating Leicester and Wolves 3-0 and 4-0 without Moyes, the 3-0 comeback against Spurs and *that* Lanzini goal. That season was so much fun given how low the expectations were.

I for some reason stopped watching football for all of the 20/21 and 21/22 season and only started watching it again in the summer before 22/23. I really wish I could've seen my team lose 7-2 to Aston Villa and then go on to hammer Palace. I wish I could've seen Alisson's header to send us into the top 4. I missed so much I'll never see again. It must've been special.

Arsenal during lockdown was the funniest football team in recorded history. The manner in which they’d concede/ make mistakes was hysterically funny as a neutral. AFTV was even better. It was like a social experiment to see how fast a team could drive their supporters to insanity.

Gotta disagree, peak AFTV was during the Wenger Out years. Lockdown Arsenal were essentially a mid table team who won the FA Cup because of Auba. AFTV during the end of Wenger's reign was pure toxic entertainment, with the Wenger in vs out crowd, and some fans still convinced they were a top side that could get back to challenging for the big titles even though they were getting pummeled by Bayern Munich

In terms of points accumulation lockdown football was so weird. None of the league winners in the top 5 leagues even won their respective leagues by hitting the 90 point mark. Also home and away records were blown out the door, because home teams lost their advantage of having fans in their home ground stadiums. The premier league was so weird, throughout the whole season Leicester, West Ham, Spurs, Leeds, Everton, Villa and Southampton all had once ended a match day in top 4 without finishing around that area. In the 19/20 season top 4 only required 63 points and in 20/21 top 4 only required 67 points.

My favourite moment of lockdown football was Allison last minute header against West brom cause if he didn't score it they were guaranteed no ucl for the next year
